Funniest thing is that when Embiid is off the floor, even Tobi passing up open shots like he always does doesn’t work to make his effeciency not awful. Tobias Harris is averaging 63.9% TS% in minutes with Embiid & 54.1% TS% in minutes without Embiid this season.
In previous seasons, there was an elite playmaker (Ben Simmons aswell as James Harden) to hide how much of an Embiid merchant Tobias is in the regular season but even they aren’t able to hide how much of an Embiid merchant Tobias is once the playoffs start which is why our NET Rating is better without Tobi than with Tobi every year in the playoffs during our miserable 5 years with him on the roster regardless of if Embiid is on the floor or not. In recent years its gotten worse though. Tobias has a putrid -9.14 NET Rating in minutes when he doesn’t have Embiid next to him over the past 3 seasons in the playoffs whilst Embiid is a +9.18 without Tobi in the last 3 seasons in the playoffs.
This year we don’t have an elite playmaker when Embiid is off the floor so there’s no one to hide Tobi anymore when Embiid isnt there to hide him. The people that haven’t realised how bad Tobi is now know he’s awful.

That doesn’t really make any sense, there’s something else going on. But, I don’t think his strategy is to make a lot of 3s early in the year and never shoot again, even if it’s an open look. If he had that much control, he’d continue to make them.
Had a crumbl cookie today…wtf is Daryl waiting for?!?!?!!
He needs to go. Hopefully 6 more weeks of Tobi and he’s gone.
Rent free in your head 😂
So last night’s game his usage rate was 7%, which was his lowest of the season by far, and explains why his point total was so low. He started out very involved in the first quarter but that faded fast. The question would be why he wasn’t more involved in the offense, because he was definitely active on the defensive end.
To be completely real, efficiency is king in today’s league. A scoring guard who doesn’t play defense and can get buckets at high volume, with low efficiency, and play bad defense is not the rarest of commodities.
There are some popular stars amongst casual fans who really don’t contribute to winning basketball (Westbrook, LaVine, Josh Giddey, Julius Randle and I would also throw DeRozan and maybe Sabonis in there).
I tire a little of these random twitter accounts extrapolating data and trying to paint these hyper focused criticisms of players when for the first half of the season Tobias was being praised by other random twitter accounts.
Tobias is a team player who glues it all together. He’s not just about efficiency, but elite shot selection. He takes shots he can make when the team needs them most. When he decides to sacrifice his numbers for the greater good, it’s up to his teammates to take advantage of his crazy gravity and make their shots.
At the end of the day, you have to realize you’re not getting a 6’9” forward back who can damn near shoot 40 percent from three, guard the other team’s best player, shoot close up, drive, play 70-plus games a year better for Tobias Harris. We already have the guy we need.
I promise you if he’s here after the deadline and we make no move I’m not watching shit
We have a PG that averages damn near 8 dimes a game and would average more if more than 2.5 players on this team could hit an NBA jump shot.
The insane-level of production needed from Embiid/Maxey is ridiculous and it’s why a true 3rd option is needed.
