Were you more encouraged or discouraged by the Mavs near comeback against the Clippers?
Dallas can beat bad teams, is competitive against mid-tier teams, and cannot compete with good teams. That won't change when injured players return. Luka & Kyrie still don't have a consistent chemistry, because they rarely play together and Kidd can't coach. THERE WAS NO COMEBACK. They lost.
This team has no offensive actions .. yeah it’s still top5 but you’ll never get consistency if 98 percent of the game one man has the ball and everyone’s sitting around .. and you really can’t cut all that much cause he needs the entire inside of the 3pt line to go off .. at some point you need an actual offense and let Luka do what he does within it incorporate high pick in rolls while still doing more plays maybe hand offs that are apart of offense & not list ditch efforts to make a play happen .. accountability if Luka was on a roster set up like the Brooklyn nets I’d have more faith bigger wings defenders shooters and basically a full developed lively minus the shot in Claxton .. but that ain’t the luxury the Mavs have .. reason being because you’ll get enough stops to allow for you to have similar slumps the team has now and still pull off wins against above 500 teams

Love the effort in that third quarter from the small lineup. Luka usage has to go down, can’t afford to run him into the ground again. Overall impressed with the depth of this squad but need to get healthy and add some athletic defenders with size that don’t sacrifice speed.
I'd hate to be the fan of a team where a single player determines if you win or lose, other options are there but no, it's all gotta go through Luka
Its encouraging in the sense that I think we win with everyone healthy, but also a discouraging reminder of the terrible injury luck this season.

Even in the stat of playing banged up Luka leads the team. Maxi and Green should be ashamed.
Mavs put up a great fight tonight. But I just can't wait for Ky and DLive to come back.
Without Lively and Kyrie, they are just not an elite team. The amount Luka is playing is not sustainable. He looked tired and frustrated in this one. THJ has been great for the most part this season, but his maddening streakiness has been creeping back in. He's just not reliable enough to ensure those 3-pointers are keeping us alive against a team that punishes us close to the basket. Exum and Derek are the brights spots among "the others". Grant is solid, Hardy can get hot, but is not reliable at this point either.. There is not much else really. You can't blame Kyrie for being injured, but he's kind of known for not playing, for whatever reason. Let's see if he can play once he's back. Need a better back-up center than Powell and Holmes, that's for sure.
Trade THJ+GRANT for DFS+Spencer & Maci+Holmes+Hardy for J grant. Without involving FRPs in both trades.
FLUka donbric doesn't get enough flack for failing to show up in the clutch, he's the most coddled superstar in the luke with the highest usage rate

i was discouraged not because the team Is shit. but because this shows that even of fully healthy at the moment there are at least 4 teams that are better than us just in the west. to make te finals we need a big move but we don't have the right assets to do so

Mavs has an excellent offensive player in Luka. Train the rest in defense more. If they are inconsistent in offense, you should make it up in defense.

At what point does kidd realize powell is the worst starting center in the nba and for some odd reason it takes us getting down big before takes him out he can't score rebound or defend stop starting this guy everytime I see the green shoes I know we will be down digits in a few minutes
Luka was gassed. You could tell he was already tired by half time. Gotta find a way to play with Luka off the court. Everyone played hard, can’t even be mad at the loss.
Only two starting centers last night in the nba who started on weds had at least 8 rebounds except Toronto center(5) and dwight powell(1) i cant make this up playing him makes no sense

Can't believe Powell is playing over Holmes. I don't understand why Kidd only plays him vs the Lakers, it's not like Powell is defending better on small ball/stretch bigs team. Smh.
It's difficult to assess this team without our 2nd and 3rd most impactful players. I do remember that we were very optimistic about what we saw when they played. I do agree with Slightly that the ambiguity of when all the guys return is very frustrating in the moment.
This should've been the game you rest Luka for. Clippers were coming in with an 8-win streak, and regardless of Luka being on the court or not, the defense was never going to be good enough to hold back the Clippers. Ideally now with the next 2 games being @ Rockets and vs Spurs, you give Luka a rest in one of those games. Because if this team can't beat either of Houston or San Antonio without Luka, then it shows how badly constructed this roster is. If we don't rest Luka soon, he's gonna be broken by February. Do exactly what Philly has done with Joel Embiid. They rested him in the big games vs Timberwolves on November 22nd, vs Pelicans on November 29th, & vs Celtics on December 1st.
If that means not playing Luka on Christmas vs the Suns, I'm happy with that. And go further even, give him a 3 game stretch rest to include the back-to-back after the Xmas Suns game against the Cavs & the Wolves.
