Found this article from July detailing some of AJ’s mental battles and unfortunate family issues. I know a lot of us are looking for answers but this is a lot of context imo.
I really hope he gets the help he needs.
Some things are bigger than basketball.
Dang yeah I forgot that his brothers child passed away over the summer. Probably a lot of pain being felt in his family rn especially with it being the holidays.
Damn I really he can pull through… this explains those religious “outbursts” he was having over the summer. Dealing with tragedy can really make you question your own beliefs.
I think a lot of people were being uncharitable to this young man and his beliefs – I know it’s not popular on Reddit but people having troubles should seek solace and refuge wherever makes them feel better, and if that was faith for AJ then that’s completely fine. It’s his business and his business alone.
I hope whatever has been affecting him gets better and he’s able to return to the sport better than ever.
