Hawks vs. Grizzlies Postgame Press Conference: Quin Snyder

Hawks vs. Grizzlies Postgame Press Conference: Quin Snyder

I thought that was one of those games it’s played at a a high level um obviously defensively in the first half we were we were good and um Bane got hot and that was uh they got we missed some shots and they converted on the other end and

There were some key plays there was a goal 10 that I’m not sure that didn’t look like a goal 10 um thought that was a big play and then we had to take foul that was a tough break and we’ve got to play through those

Things um and that’s part of it for us is just you know adversity late but I didn’t think we got rattled and we kept playing some loose balls really hurt us late too Quinn what did you feel like was the biggest difficulty guarding Bane in that

Second half as he went off well I think that the posted us early with Jackson and we broke down a little bit but then cleaned that up um he got some things in transition um some clean looks and you know we started trying to Blitz him in pick and

Roll um but there were some loose balls where he ended up with there was a few broken plays where he just ended up with the ball and um and then I thought there was a few times we we guarded him well and he made shots um and that’s really

What you what you want um to to make him take tough shots and just think there it was a little bit little bit too easy um and he’s good obviously so I have to watch the tape to to give you the best answer but it just seemed like a lot of

Little things that um you were doing and he was playing sometimes you get a guy that’s on a rooll like that and um you know you have to do something to slow him down and we tried to do that um as I said I think he got some stuff that

Wasn’t necessarily in half court or he got some things in transition whether it was the rim or or some open look there was one big possession bogy had a good clean look and missed it and then he hit one on the other end and um those things are deflating at times given the

Backtack uh with Trey playing 40 minutes last night sadique also as well and then those guys kind of playing some some big minutes and other guys obviously as as well tonight how do you think they handled that on that back-to-back situation playing those big minutes I thought they handled it well

Um very well you know the uh to the extent that you’ve got to play through that that’s where we are right now and um you know especially we’re playing DJ bogy and Trey Bogie’s been shooting it great and um putting those guards out there and sadik we’re playing big with

The two bigs you know and guys just got to keep keep competing and I thought we did that tonight I mean that to me you know we were unselfish we moved the ball you know we got good looks and we and we fought and U you know we got to keep to

Win these types you know you got to keep executing at a high level against jar rant and B you know they’re really good players coach you may have I’m sorry coach you may have already alluded to this um they had 76 points in the paint

Um just kind of what did you see there as far as what they were able to do down low for you guys I think I just answered it to be honest with you we’re you know we got to really work um some of too many of those you know your offense versus your

Defense we miss shots sometimes especially when we drive the ball to the rim they have numbers in transition and uh you know I thought they were they laid it in too much in the paint you know in Full Court um and then some of it was the glass some of was some

Post-ups um some of it were thought we did a good job trying to get the shooters and try to run somebody off the line and get in the rim so number of things and you know we we’ve got to you know be really really connected and we

Don’t take up that much space so um it’s tough to shift and stop penetration when you’ve got Bane over here here and you know you don’t have the ability to jar going to the through the the nail through the foul line and Desmond Bane sitting here in

The high quadrant that’s a tough mix you know and um you know then they get in the paint you know and I thought Clinton did a great job I thought o did a great job when we got in Blitz and as I said there’s there’s some situations that

They put you in that are that are difficult and you know we’ve just got to continue got to try to be perfect you know and the more possessions we have um the better and then if we can make some shots you know that helps too cuz if

They’re taking the ball other than that they’re not running at us and I think we yeah 13 to 43 we got good looks Quinn uh a player like J obviously I think we all know what he brings on the offensive end regarding his you know scoring ability cor vision and

Athleticism but you know when looks like Bogie’s gonna hit a nice transition layup it’s gonna make it to what I I thought that was a Goen I thought that was a Goen I thought it was a pretty easy go could no it was

A hell of a block I mean he can do that that one might have been a goal 10 but he’s probably got 10 more in his bag than aren so yeah go ahead yeah I was going to ask you know what do you think a player like that who can get it done

On both ends at a high level brings to the game especially late yeah well I think the way that they put size on our guards you know you’ve got Williams spreading out at 68 you know that allows jaw to really be instinctive you know and make plays off the ball which you

Know he really can use his quickness and his anticipation and um you know that that’s you know he he’s got not just great quickness and athleticism but he’s got a feel for the game you sometimes you see that on the offensive end and you don’t see it quite as visibly on the

Defensive end cuz a lot of times you’re watching the ball or whatever and then he’s there making a play and you know to your point whether it’s a Goen or not you know the effort as well to to run that down you know says a lot about what

A competitor he is and um to add on to that um today was Seth’s really first game back you know in a while and he was playing significant minutes defending or guarding jaah and Desmond um mean he went he went from I’m sorry um how do

You what would you say about his ability to I thought he competed you know and and uh go from the Showcase um from you know with us to the Showcase and then back here um he’s a competitor I think that’s the thing that stands out as much as anything and he’s

Probably upset he missed a couple looks but the thing for me is that he takes him you know I I believe in him his ability to shoot the ball he just got to we need him to shoot when he’s in there and space the floor cuz that’s a lot of

Times what’s available so um and I think his toughness is is one of his greatest assets he just competes and to your point coach de jonte only had one field goal attempt in the fourth quarter was it more of the defense of what they were doing as far as not allowing him to

Score or was it or do you feel like you want him to be more aggressive or call more plays for him yeah I I thought he was aggressive um he really had his eyes out he was finding people as well and um you know he didn’t have a chance to attack and

Transition you know as much as you know that that’s an area where he really can get to the rim and is effective um but you know I I think the game sometimes unfolds a certain way and absolutely want him to be aggressive and uh he’s done that and can do that throughout the

Game all right thanks coach okay

  1. Coach should have got a tech in the first quarter. Just act like coach Pop if you want your team to be treated with some respect

  2. The Hawks don't have enough raw athleticism on the team to just out-athlete other teams.

They lose focus for long spurts of games… But they can't afford to do that.

Then they get mad with the Refs for missing calls when they are in a crunch and every point counts but they playing against the clock and they can't get stops.

They do this every game it seems like.

Until they start taking the whole game seriously this will be the result of most nights smh.

  3. Sorry excuse of a coach this man do not speak up for his players . When his contract up I hope he never gets a job again

  4. Smh come on coaching has been suspect all season Jalen should help big time when he comes back and coach you need to play AJ Griffin
