He’s a third center. For that he’s a good value

  2. Handcuffed

did people think highly of his skill? i mean aside from oregon state fans who were biased in rooting for a former player.

If Drew were 2 inches taller but with roughly the same frame, he’d be amazing, like a more mobile Hartenstein.

Unfortunately he’s undersized and easy to push around for rebounds.

  4. Carcrusher3

High energy, sets okay screens, can chasedown a good block.

On near a vet min he’s anything but worthless. Suns are getting what they paid (and tampered) for.

  5. ItsKrakenmeuptoo

We never said he was a starting Center or backup Center. We said he was a solid 3rd string Center.

Idk, I watched him play hundreds of good minutes here. You can make an argument it wasn’t for serious Blazer teams, but that doesn’t mean the other 29 or so teams Drewbanks balled out against weren’t trying to win. He earned his dunks, and he earned a full contract off those repeating 10-days. And that’s more than uh, Cam McGriff can say. Fans who said the Shaqdale Trout should start over Nurk were probably thinking a bit emotionally, but they wouldn’t have said that at all unless Eubanks made plays. Advanced stats notwithstanding, I also believe he stepped up playing for his home club.

Imo, he’s observably worse in AZ and not just perceptibly

Yes, some Blazers fans were completely delusional about Eubanks lol

There were people here saying Nurk should ride the bench so Eubanks could start. Imo it was all because of the crazy Nurk hate that was going on his last year and half or so here, people were desperate for someone else and latched on to the Trout of Shaqdale.

He was a fun dude though and a high energy local guy, was always going to be overrated

  8. GoDucks2002

The suns have and always be a dumpster fire organization

  9. DependentLow6749

He’s serviceable, but not a guy you want to play in playoff games.

  10. iguessineedanaltnow

Blazers fans ALWAYS overrate the end of the bench guys.

  11. likpoper

He is a min center. Why is anyone talking about him like there is high expectations

  12. natural_lawg

I hoped he’d live up to dreams because that’s what I do as a fan.

  13. Orwell1971

Because you can find a fan talking shit about him? Find me a player that people don’t shit talk, then we can talk about how good Eubanks actually is.

The issue is that he’s a college level center and an NBA power forward. He’s being mis-utilized, and he was able to over-perform in Portland. As a backup 4, with his heart and hustle, he’s a steal on that contract. But push him to the 5 and yeah he’s over extended even on a second unit.

Some of our [best lineups](https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/POR/2023/lineups/) last year included Eubanks and he earnestly felt like a quality backup. I think he hustled, finished the plays that were set up for him, and understood his role, which was kind of refreshing compared to Nurk.

Some of it could have been a fluke though, he was genuinely pretty terrible before he came to Portland so he might have just regressed back to his norm. Maybe he just flourished playing in his hometown?

  16. Trailbleezers

He’s a good 3rd stringer who is serviceable as a back up. Not sure what pheonix is asking him to do but if it’s more than hustle on D and rebound I could see why he might get exposed a bit. However those are 2 things we desperately needed last year so he was a hood fit for us

  17. BlazerBeav

Are you implying that this fanbase overvalued a guy because he hustled, despite having glaring holes in his game? Why, I never!

  18. palmquac

He’s an undersized rim-running center. He does the fundamentals fine. He’s adequate as a backup but shouldn’t be playing starter minutes as he did for us.

Sharing this snippet of one Suns’ fan’s opinion isn’t super useful on gauging if he was properly rated by Rip City. He played fine for us in a role that ended up being bigger than it should’ve been because of Nurk’s injuries. But more important in this case, what kind of lineups is he out there with in Phoenix? They notoriously went all-in on KD/Booker/Beal and really only have probably 7 truly reliable rotation options that would play in the playoffs. Their bench is weak in general which means that Drew is not surrounded by good players. Which will of course affect his play and their judgement of him.

EuBanks can’t play defense that’s his downfall
