Coach Udoka talks lack of defense, Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun after loss to Pacers
Coach it seems like Jones in the midst of a real struggle has there been any thought to potentially bring him off the bench get him going up at the second unit or no we had not thought about that man got some pretty early run tonight provided a bit of a spark um
What led to those early minutes and what did you see out of him in those minutes well we want to look at some different combinations uh different guys some of the starters and um we liked the we knew he was going to be in with we knew their
Rotations and like the you know we want another Defender out there when how Burton’s in so just taking a look at some different lineups and we did look good second unit look really good coach what have been some of the issues with the three-point defense our three-point defense
Tonight the same thing I heard us against Atlanta and San Antonio and any other team that slips screens we don’t communicate stay we don’t stay lock locked in with our guy obviously if you don’t get hit with the screen you’re not switching and so that could that non commmunication
And them slipping out led to wide open threes from there were scrambling and they’re a good team obviously moving the ball and they spread it out with Shooters obviously five is you know a very low number much fewer than usual but in general do you feel like you need
To get more threes out of this offense than you’ve been getting absolutely I think you like to go on the 40 40 mark you know we’re I think we’re in the mid3 or whatever we’ like to get probably six more at least um pass up a few tonight and then
Sometimes the game presents that to you they’re one of the better teams that get people off the three-point line and funing in to to their bigs down there especially Turner and so what we did have some open looks obviously and wide open looks that we missed and you know
Was a shock shocking at the point the way we played in the third quarter and the amount of Threes they hit that we were still in the game at that point to take the lead 117 115 just under two minutes to go and then go scoreless the
Rest of way just how did you feel about the offensive execution over those final two minutes it was okay I think we um when we went to Al in the post um he has to bait a little bit more be more aggressive there knowing they’re going
To come after him and um we got to kick out three to to Jabari not a lot of movement off of that we wanted to slash somebody and get the rotations that we got the other three uh I think to Aon out of it but just got to be more
Aggressive initially knowing they’re going to come after him and and just bit it instead of hold it there and get a little bit more moving so um what worked well for us last game going into in New Orleans like I said they came after a little more aggressive and we didn’t
Like a rotation behind it they just stuned and stay in one place and pretty much got a contested three out of it on those Halbert and thre specifically with him did you think your guys were out up far enough on him and then on that last possession why the decision to double
Him on that yeah yeah the the three he got um I think Jabari we’d like him be a little more aggressive on that switch um one the play prior play Al jumped up and you know we didn’t him switching out there and they got the the pass down the
Lane to Turner I think javar is a little flat on the other one we want to be more aggressive with that red there the three hit and then went after them there to try to speed them up and um get them to shoot it earlier on the shot clock and
Our rotations behind him we got driven um you know if we get out get it out of his hands on that point um I think it was Jan got driven by uh nard there you know it’s kind of what we want to do make somebody else beat us and they made
Us pay surprised that there are still issues with as good as team has yes it’s it’s I don’t think it’s basic um you know switching in some things that certain teams do but but obviously the teams that slip out a lot have heard us this year and so yeah that’s something we’ve
Gone over talked about new they were very similar to Atlanta and the fact that they switch or slip out everything they probably said screens 10% of the time so um you know you don’t get hit by a screen you don’t switch it and so we worked on that talked about it and to
Your point it still heard us so that is a little surprising because cuz um I think other than San Antonio and might have been done but somebody else HT us with that there this year and we got to um obviously be better in that regard
Any update on Dylan by the way no than with uh Jaylen do you think it’s more about him not being aggressive enough or not recogniz and what defenses um are playing against him or is it just that he’s in a shooting slump that every player goes through I would say the um
Not the ladder not really the shooting slump I I don’t know if he’s getting the best looks but second guess and for sure you can see that um you don’t want to be aggressive initially but you have to be able to do both and I think it’s time to
Struggle and to read what they’re doing you know pass up some looks and you know Force some others and so um just got of continue to improve in that area read the game and take what it gives you times you know if if you have the open
Shot the first look you get is that’s a lot of times the best one and so um there’s something to grow into and get better at but um teams are putting one of the better Defenders on them and paying attention to them and obviously with him playing that way if he was
Playing the other way we’d obviously wouldn’t struggle as much offensively and have to lean on other guys as much or play other guys minutes so continue to keep him confident continue to you know improve in certain areas and he’ll take a step eventually

How the hell r u gonna keep Jalen confident when u pretty much bench him every 4th quarter n barely give him 20 minutes pt… gtfoh
Trade jalenn jackblandele reggie bulock oladipo 2 first for donovan mitchel rocket will be contender
Jalen Green sucks he is killing this team – sit him out, say he has a hamstring injury and let him find his confidence, he is literally costing the Rockets a chance to win, our starters are struggling because he stinks on both ends.
How are you going to develop jaleen green if you are going to benched all the time? Just let him find his way to get back his rhythm. I suggest jaleen must continue his act to let him trade and maybe find his better coach to coach him. And look for unselfish teammates…
Who cares green the team would be better without him
Start with Tari
get rid of jg and play with tari first alpi needs help if you guys wanna win
Jalen green is bull shiet trade him
Rockets scouts if you see this comment ….we need a stretch big who specializes in defense and rebound there are plenty of no name players …..another kevin porter replacement is needed bad
If Alpi would play in an other team, he could eaaily reach tripple double every second game
Shidd sitting Jalen for Aaron ain’t the answer at least put amen out there
This guy's a whole ogre, no respect for him
Jalen and Jabari sucjs, so bench Sengun
