Honestly bam set UD up for slander with this story lmao. But Ud doubling down on it was crazy.
Russell has social/civil rights impact as a big part of his legacy. I get where UD was coming from though cause of the whole “fuck the Celtics” and the context is he’s trying to hype his guys up. Obviously Bill’s league wide jersey retirement is more akin to how Jackie Robinson was and actually makes sense. As opposed to MJs being retired by UDs team, for pure glazing reasoning. Which doesn’t help.

UD didn’t do himself any favors with what he said. Bill Russell’s jersey was retired across the league for reasons outside basketball but UD acted like it was only because of his play.
Saying fuck Bill Russel just cause he didn’t play for the Heat and had his jersey retired in the Heat’s arena for all the stuff he did outside basketball is a really odd take.
UD should expect hate to flow his way from pretty much every non-Heat fan.

But he also ignored the fact that We have Michael Jordan’s number retired as well (and Dan Marino, but atleast he’s a Miami legend)

But he is right do you honestly think they would ever Hang Wade’s Jersey in Boston. Kobe would make more sense but he was laker no way they ever hang his yellow and purple jersey up there. And I know where UD is coming from we are the only team besides Chicago that has MJs jersey hanging up there next to Shaq,Bosh, and soon to be Wade. But MJ never played for heat just gave us the business every time he would play us in the old hot ass concrete made seats at Miami arena.
