Obviously people would be disappointed that most of Brooklyn's starters were out tonight and Mikal Bridges Royce O Neale and surprisingly Cam Thomas only played a quarter, but the young prospects showed out tonight 🔥…
Jalen Wilson Trendon Watford and Noah Clowney all had great showings and for 3 quarters Brooklyn put up a great fight against the Bucks….
Sean Marks doesn't always get credit for the moves he's made but considering he took over a franchise that had 0 draft picks and no real stars, they now have a valuable core of Mikal Bridges Cam Johnson Nic Claxton (draft pick) Dayron Sharpe ( draft pick) and Cam Thomas ( draft pick). They have a solid veteran group of Spencer Dinwiddie Dennis Smith Jr. Royce O Neale and Dorian Finney Smith. Plus they have a young core of Jalen Wilson Dariq Whitehead Noah Clowney Trendon Watford Lonnie Walker and Keon Johnson. Lastly they have the most draft capital in the Eastern Conference….
So considering how Marks began his tenure in Brooklyn with nothing, Brooklyn definitely has a bright future to keep building on what they have….
But again Cam Thomas role has become a question mark again. After being subbed out of the whole fourth quarter in favor of Doe's defense and only playing a quarter tonight, there are some questions about where Thomas stands long-term with Brooklyn.
Is he a long-term fit due to his prodigious scoring or he is he a highly valuable protected trade asset to use in a big deal to acquire a superstar?…
As we discussed it could go both ways….
Dennis Smith Jr. meanwhile has really become a leader that this team has been lacking for a while. He plays with an edge and confidence on the court but is a very unselfish playmaker who makes good passes to get his teammates good scoring opportunities…
More importantly he's been a pest defensively and plays with a assertive pitbull mentality…
Brooklyn should definitely think about adding Dennis to the starting unit and seeing if he can get Mikal and Cam to play better together on the court…
Fire 🔥 JV
Cam Thomas should be a 2 guard the problem is we run no offense plays to set him up for open shots
Ironically, Kevin Durant’s post-Nets career would be going so much better if Sean Marks had somehow included himself in the deal: Imagine a Suns team that had DSJ, Lonnie Walker, and Trendon Watford as minimum singings over Ishbia’s much-lauded “haul” of 96 variations on Chimezi Metu/Yuta Watanabe. On such a top-heavy aging injury-prone roster, bizarro playmakers with delusions of grandeur might make better role players than an army of career 10th-12th men who are elite at knowing their place. (I.e. never take a dribble if KD/Book can do it for you.)
Fire this coach that was embarrassing what was he trying to do why play bridges cam one quarter? Why rest all the other guys? They played a team that has lost 27 in row the pistons 2 times and that requires rest?? In post-game says he played bridges 40 mins last night what about cam t he only played 23 n tonight just first quarter. The last gm vs bucks nets almost won at full strength why not at least try it was a even gm after first quarter. Jv should be fired who wants to be a fan of a team that throws gms at home vs nba elite team. I'm disgusted.
Idk why people are trippin. Trap games are the most fun games of the season.
It was nice getting to see where our young guys are in their development. Clowney was fantastic, KJ was great and jwill could get a bigger role in the rotation right now imo.
Dariq looks like he’s still a ways away. But the future of the team looks bright.
76 points in the paint and out rebounding the bucks despite their size advantage was super impressive.
Didn’t people pay money to watch that?
"I don't understand why we can't let Cam Thomas lead the young players to victory. We're on the verge of winning this game."
It was pure joy seeing JV give our two way players and reserves PT against a tough team. It's part of the process that'll pay dividends down the road.
i get if it was a runaway after the first quarter, but it wasn't. this isn't a tanking team, so you should always try to win games as much as possible. I'm done with jv after this game.
If the nets were a good team they would’ve rested their starters during the pistons game and played them today vs bucks.
I’m sure a lot of teams, especially those with injured superstars, find the Nets bench enviable. That bench underscores the importance of having a strong second unit. The Nets should not do anything to diminish the strength of their bench.
Im looking forward to hearing Doug’s trade scenario. I expect it will be interesting.
People are absolutely losing their minds. It’s really not a big deal lol
Honestly, it's a nice FU to the NBA to see the Nets trot out 3rd and 4th string guys against a championship pedigree team. The league is ridiculously top heavy
