[Kawakami] Though I’ve said in the past that Warriors might be reluctant to trade Wiggins after he signed a bargain-rate contract ext, I’ve since heard that this would not be a major barrier for them to explore his trade market. Esp if he cant play with Kuminga & they decide JK is their full-time SF

It all depends on who we’re trading for. I’d love to see kuminga flourish in the starting role, but I also already know that Wiggins in the playoffs can absolutely turn it on.
This is interesting and I do think TK probably has sources but one thing that makes absolutely ZERO sense to me is…. Kuminga barely plays small forward for us.
Am I missing something? If you go look at the most common lineups with JK, he’s clearly the 4. So not sure how to take this – is TK just being ‘loose’ with positional names? Or is this just a bunch of hot air.
This is why Dray being out hurts us so much: (1) you can’t get a true read on what lineups work without him and (2) we need to win just to stay afloat so have less room to experiment.
And Klay’s free agency is a complicating factor too. If he won’t take $25M and we lose him, then we need to keep Moody.
I don’t envy our front office.
End of the day… i never thought any past connections inhibit MDJs ability to do whatever he thinks is best.
Bob negotiated those contracts.
MDJ is working off a clean slate. If he wants to operate like Danny Ainge he can. If he wants to operate like Bob he can. If he wants to do his own thing completely it’s his world we’re just living I’m it.
Wiggins and two firsts for Lauri, throw in some Steph autographs for Ainge’s family
> Especially if he can’t play with Kuminga and the Warriors decide that Kuminga is their full-time small forward.
That’s a couple of big ifs right there, and also ignores the possibility of Wiggs coming off the bench. I could see a lineup with him, Klay, CP3, GP2 and Loon being used to hold a lead and slow down a game, especially if the opponent doesn’t have a dominant big who can take enough minutes to play against the bench and the starters.
TL;DR: it would have to be a small part of a bigger package, and I refuse to speculate on the bigger packages because this sub does plenty of that already.
Timmy’s unnamed sources don’t even realize JK plays a huge majority of his minutes at the 4. How does anybody take this guy seriously
The article fails to mention Klay and his contract.
He seems to have a higher sense of his value than the market would be for him.
Losing Klay and Wigs would result in -2 wings.
This whole situation is a vlusterfuck 😅

NBA should have loan deals as major European football leagues. That’s all I got to say
Well yeah, If Kerr can’t find a way to play them together then one of them will need to be traded because it’ll be unfair to them to have to sit regardless of performance because you can’t both share the court.
This is where JK is airing his grievances and some people don’t seem to understand. The way Kerr has decided the rotation it means JK could be playing out of his mind but as soon as Wiggs also plays well, JK will see himself on the bench which is something he should rightly refuse to accept. Denver was a perfect example of that. JK got pulled from the game while playing well and Wiggs who came on also happened to be playing well, so JK sees himself sit the rest of the game.
JK only get to play 4th quarters if Wiggs isn’t playing or if Wiggs isn’t playing well. It doesn’t matter what performance JK put out there, his fate and minutes are dependent on Wiggins which to anyone would seem incredibly unfair. You want to be rewarded and judged for your performances not because of someone else’s.
If Kerr can’t find a solution as in managing to play both of them, then trade one and let’s stop wasting everybody’s time and careers.
Nooooo
Not sure what happened last year with Wiggins but that plus this year seems patience wearing thin
Something else I just want to throw out there is wiggins is on a sweetheart contract (assuming he gets out of this slump) for another three years I think? Whereas Kuminga strikes me as the kind of guy who may want to get a max or close to a max when his play hasn’t exactly made that a no brainer deal. Giving Kuminga a bag and him not taking a couple pretty big leaps is just as bad if not worse than the wiggins problem we have now because he will be using more cap room.
Hard to see the trade market for Wiggins. For bad teams he is not a good example and will not play hard. For good teams maybe they think they can get back a locked in Wiggins in the playoffs and gamble but are they trading much?
I love Wiggins and have faith he can turn his season around. But Kuminga has been playing his heart out. If you have to pick, go with the guy who is putting his all out there for the team. Wiggins has definitely been distracted.
If we have to choose between 2022 playoffs Wiggins and current JK, it’s a hard decision.
But if we’re picking between current Wiggins and current JK, JK is the clear choice.
So the question is…is 2022 Wiggins available? Or is he gone?
II’m out on Wiggins he’s to mentally weak. I would definitely trade him.
Most modern basketball conversations
Position = Defensive responsibility; who you guard.
Role = Offensive function/role; what you do.
The days of Basketball index spitting out a percentages and people saying “he’s a power forward” lol power forward is a defunct position… cuz he’s the 2nd tallest player on the court smh.
Kuminga is a defensive wing… offensive finisher.
Wiggs is a true wing.
But Kuminga is close to being a true wing… imo Klay is closer to being a stretch 4 than Kuminga is to being an outright true forward (4) lol. Conversationally folks seem to be on autopilot about this kinda stuff.
Wiggins, moody and CP for lavine
It seems like if a player wanted a no trade clause that would be negotiated as part of the deal. It gets confusing if a team has to honor some unwritten code about not trading a guy because he signed a team friendly deal.
It’s literally a written agreement that has an option to include parameters for making a trade! Kawakami was high to suggest there’s an extra-contractual feeling guiding whether Wiggs gets traded. If it makes them better, Wiggins is gone.
If it comes down to Wiggins and JK, it’s very simple. JK is hungry, and Wiggs is satiated. Keep the hungry player.
That contract was shit for the way he’s playing.
With all the possible trade talks going on with this sub, I’d rather trade Wiggins due to his slump.
Our bench has been great this year, and there’s no reason to think that would stop.
Steph has been great, and Klay has gotten through his annual early season slump. And I want the core 3 to retire as warriors, they’ve more than earned it.
So it comes down to Looney and Wiggins. And Wiggs is on the bigger contract. So as much as I liked his game the last 3 years, he’s the one I would trade first.
