  1. Good old Cardiac Blazers at the end there.

Anyways, the speed at which Scoot recognizes an open man and then throws a perfect one-handed pass is impressive. It’s just one fluid action. You gotta be ready to act because he will find you.

Here are my thoughts on this game:

    Positives:

    * Scoot looked super comfortable today, and to me it’s the best he’s looked in the halfcourt offense. He’s becoming a lot more comfortable with his shot, change of pace, and getting guys open in the halfcourt and it’s great to see. And he continues to be good on defense, which I can’t say I expected coming out of the draft.
    * Jabari put in a hell of a game, probably the best of his career. He hustles SO hard, and he manages to catch everything that hits his hands, even in traffic, which is super impressive to me. And I like that he can guard 2-5 on defense without getting annihilated on the glass – it makes a lot of interesting lineups possible defensively.
    * Grant also had a good game. I thought he was much more decisive on the catch, and for the first three quarters, he was much less of a ballstopper than he sometimes is especially with a lot of our rotation gone.
    * Badji is raw, but he looks like a future NBA rotation player at the very least. The tools are there, he’s decisive and aggressive, and he looks like he can process the game at a reasonable level (unlike Moses or young Meyers Leonard).
    * Skylar Mays deserves regular rotation minutes somewhere. It probably won’t be here, but the guy can play. And if we end up trading Brogdon, Mays will do just fine as an emergency PG/4th ball handler.

    Negatives:

    * The Spurs are a TOTALLY different team without Wemby, holy cow. Also Tre Jones deserves more minutes than he gets.
    * Please be okay Zach. Really sucks to see someone get hurt, especially a guy with a history of foot injuries.
    * I didn’t like that we broke the normal offense to run like 8 consecutive Grant mid post ISOs in the fourth quarter. That was really ugly. And even in the postups he was getting position too far towards the baseline and allowing the double team to come – if we really insist on running Grant postups, he needs to be higher more towards the middle of the floor to allow him to pass out of the double more easily.
    * Edit: accidentally forgot to delete something

[Barry Jackson] If Joe Cronin is bored tonight watching his Scoot Henderson being Scoot Henderson at home against the 5-25 Spurs, maybe he can turn on Root Sports and watch what all the young Blazers players that he acquired are doing in Portland.

I feel like Scoot keeps having his best career game every night

G league looks like a terrible way to evaluate prospects. Scoots athleticism wasn’t evaluated correctly. I’m an insufferable cunt.
What does Scoot do that any other point guard prospect doesn’t do?

  6. OkStable3333

Scoot is the truth. It’s hard to even comp him to another player. He’s Bigger Chris Paul on offense and Marcus Smart on defense.

  7. allaboutthatpace

Scoot since the injury (17 games):

    13.2/3/4.8 with 2.9 TOs and 38/35/80 percentages.

The middy needs to fall a bit more and the finishing should continue to improve, but this would be a pretty decent rookie season statistically for a 19 year old rookie lead guard.

  8. PDXB-Side

Can Scoot be the all time starting point guard now?

  9. theseus1234

    Bari!

    Sc🥽t!

    Grant!

    Brogdon!

    The absence of Wembanyama!

    Camara!

That was fun af. All our favorite young guys (who played) showed a lot of great stuff. Scoot was fuckin electric, I’m excited to see him get more experience and minutes.

    *edit: capitalized the S*

I was very high on Scoot and still am. Wasn’t worried about the early struggles, considering the Blazers slow pace and multiple ball handlers, but was concerned at his indecision with the ball. Happy to see he’s more comfortable in the half court, but would still like to see the team run more to maximize Scoot/Shaedons athleticism.

  13. NevermoreSEA

That was definitely a bit more fun than last night’s game.

scoot coulda had a triple double if they kept him or used him at all in the 4th

Undefeated when Kevin and Lamar chat with an usher during the third.

Looking forward to their interview with a Killer Burger cashier during the next home game.

  16. phil3199

OP flipped the win-loss record. We now have more chances of winning the lottery.

  17. DinQuixote

We all knew our center rotation was going to be a bright spot this year with Duop Reath and Jabari Walker doing the damage, just like everyone expected.

  18. Boxinggandhi

Man, I know he’s spendy, but Jerami has been showing up to play and has been putting up good numbers. I could see a world where he stays a bit and makes a run with this group. We would be absolute ass without him.

  19. Maclanethurston

I think Jabari is now my favorite Blazer. Dude hustles and loves to play and is a great teammate

  20. General_Mung

The missed dunks were tough to watch. I love seeing Jabari and Scoot ball out though, they have a bright future.

  21. Dutchofclass

What a game from Scoot. But I gotta give a shoutout to Skylar Mays; dude was playing fantastically well today

  22. gavinschnitzel

Walker and Camara looking like very solid wings of the future. Both are big bodied tough dudes.

Pair them with our guard combo of Scoot/Sharpe/Simons – we have a decent young core.

A young C like Mark Williams/Jalen Duran would complement this group so nicely.
