Gordon Hayward downplays Kobe Bryant’s final game, says he airballed 6 or 7 times and wasn’t great except for last 3 minutes

“I’m a big Kobe fan as well, so I don’t want to put that last game down for you, but we learned right before game time that the game didn’t matter,” Hayward said. “The game would have mattered for us making the playoffs, but we learned right before that the game didn’t matter. Somebody else had won.”

“But I will say, we were up pretty handily most of the game,” Hayward said. “He probably airballed six or seven times. He shot 50 shots.”

“I don’t think he was that good throughout most of the game,” Hayward said. “Now, the last three minutes, he was special. The last three minutes was unreal. It was vintage Kobe.”

  1. I remember that game like it was yesterday, and Gordon is telling no lies. Kobe was chucking and everyone loved him for it, on both sides. It wasn’t all star level defense, but no one was trying to embarrass Kobe on his last game. There was a lot of due respect being paid, and that didn’t make it any less special to behold.

doesn’t matter. it was a kobe classic for his last game. his legacy lives on.

I dont care if he airballed every shot. Keep his name out your mouth.

This is pure salt. If he kept his head in the game the lakers wouldn’t have come back

Haywards just salty because he screwed over the jazz and karma came and snapped his leg into pieces.

Everybody knows that. He didn’t have to say it out loud though. It was a nice last game effort for a legend who was playing in a game that didn’t matter. It was purely for the fans and we love him for it.

most games at the end of the year are fake games

kenneth lofton jr scored 42 last year

and you probably don’t even know who he is

This reminds me of when Cal Ripken hit the home run in his final all star game and a bunch of people downplayed it by saying he got a fat pitch to hit. Greats do great things — Ripken still had to hit the ball and Kobe still had to drop 60 and get the W. Hayward sounds salty to me and won’t be remembered in 5-10 years.

I mean he isn’t wrong, regardless it was still a game to be remembered.

  10. Well this should kill that stupid “classy Hayward stepped in the lane on purpose” thing
