Not surprised at all, this is a needed step to maximize value and keep the tank rolling on. Kuz is the last major asset left on the roster who isn’t on a rookie deal.

While in a vacuum I don’t think Kuz is worth multiple 1’s (assuming unprotected), the fact that there are so few sellers right now does drive his price up a lot. Could be a good haul coming back for him.

When we re-signed him, people definitely talked about how the longer term deal could net us great value in potential trades, so it’s very possible to get a good return on a 3+ year deal of a versatile forward in his prime, that could be way more effective on a good team.
