On Track for 54-28
I appreciate that in limited minutes Barlow got offensive rebounds and brought some good energy. Still raw, but we need more offensive boards. Wesley also had some good moments as well.
Go Spurs Go!
Keldon telling Blake to not dunk in the last 8 seconds.
I know folks don’t like him, but he’s the leader of our team right now.
We have two years to get Wemby a solid supporting cast and a good coach. I truly hope it happens.
Blake being our second best player of the game is a good and bad thing
Might be on to something w Blake
**Pros**
* WEMBY
* Keldon woke up offensively late in the 3rd quarter after a sluggish start
* Barlow did the best he could in the minutes he got
* Wesley played solid minutes, attacking the rim on offense while staying active and aggressive on defense guarding Morant
**Cons**
* Branham right ankle injury
* Vassell quiet and disappointing night when we needed someone else to step up
Usual suspects: Overall poor defense, TOs, poor shooting
* Couldn’t keep Bane from scoring in the paint
* Defense lapses, including silly fouls from Johnson and Osman at the end of the 3rd quarter that gave Smart and Morant free throws, giving up back cuts, going under on screens against shooters, etc.
* 3pt shooting + Foul shooting
* TOs – some of them were the right idea trying to get Wemby the ball, but with less than stellar execution including one play where Vassell tried to bounce pass it to Wemby as he was rolling to the basket
**Overall**
Looked like an ugly game for the most part. Tried to keep it close with a run early in the 3rd quarter, but things kind of went downhill from there. Tried to make a run late in the 4th but it wasn’t enough. I thought it was hilarious that Memphis challenged a blocking call only for Smart to get called for a flop.
**Looking Forward**
One game back at home in a nationally televised matchup vs the Bucks in what will likely be Wemby’s first meeting against Giannis on Wemby’s 20th birthday
**GSG**
Wemby played good and I actually thought Blake played fairly well given Malaki was sent out. All I can take away from this game.
Nice stat pad at the end down 12 with less than 10 sec to go if only they put in the effort for the entire game and not when the game is out of reach
Morant and Memphis fans taking a victory Lap for his apparent “dunk” on Wemby. While being 10-22 in the prime of his career lol. Such a pathetic franchise
Pop’s a bro for subbing in Wemby for 30 seconds to allow him to get that 50% FG%
– We are counting on a 19 yo Wemby who pretty much doing everything on both ends, and carry the team on his back.
– Keldon did a great job diggin a hole for us in Q3, and he took every single shots on meaningless time, so his stats looks good.
– Except Wesley, the rest of guards have been like revolving door, can’t stopping anyone.
– Sochan and Vassell need to be more aggressive on both ends.
– We are on the pace to be the forth worst DIFF/GP team in NBA history with -11.9 per game.
– Bet Pop will still saying something like “I’m proud of them”, “I’m pleased”, “love their effort”…etc.
I dont see the Jeremy the defender thing that Pop must see. He looks like a big neutral every night
Vassell is very inconsistent
Keldon has the skillset of a good starter, but his BBIQ is really bad
These two are supposed to be our 2nd and 3rd best players. They need to step up. They’re not bad, there are games where they proved they have potential to be elite, but they need to be consistent
Where does this coaching staff rank in all time worst ever at half time adjustments. I’d love to see the statistics on this.
I have liked Blake Wesley minutes more than I thought I would in the offseason
We’re really gonna be on TNT this week…
My takeaways:
1. The lineup rotations in the 4th were very odd.
2. There’s a lot that I like about Blake. His defensive intensity and intensity is the best we have in a PG. He deserves NBA minutes.
3. There’s a lot that I like about Barlow too. He doesn’t finish well inside and is undersized when playing the 5; but, I love how mobile he is and his shooting form looks great.
4. Jeremy’s 3-pt shot is slow and looks to have a hitch in it, but it goes on, so I’ll take it! Lol.
Same story. I know we ain’t winning it all this year, but it would be nice to win a few statement games. Pop is tanking in broad daylight and if he’s not careful he going to cause Wemby to pack his bags.
It sucks how shockingly awful this team is. We should be doing SOMETHING with this roster right now because the morale must be beyond brutal.
What the hell was that game, Pop?
Also 2 minutes for Mamu, really? I need to vent offline for a while I think
Wanted more from almost everyone. Wemby trying to do it all in limited minutes. Vassell disappeared for most parts of the game and KJ couldn’t get it going off the bench. Sochan was fine but he’s never going to take over a game on offense.
I liked what I saw from Blake! His explosion too the basket is so fast, but he gambles to much on defense and is out of place. After a few games Barlow is looking better but the bad news is he doesn’t look like he’s gonna be the diamond in the rough the team needs inside.
It was too little too late tonight and this team is really gonna miss Zach and Malaki.
GSG
I could live with this. They played hard and it actually felt like a game, where we weren’t getting blasted by 30-40 points. Some bright spots with Wesley and Barlow. Wesley was really active and there looked to be a different energy on the defensive end. Barlow was looking a little more confident, so hope he can build from this with Collins extended absence. Shots weren’t going in from deep, and when they got to the line, they left a lot of points at the line. Still with the turnovers. Team played much more aggressively and didn’t get their asses kicked on the boards. They played hard and you can actually see it. I think that’s something to be positive about
Pop: we missed malaki.
No the hell we didn’t
Blake should be playing period. With only 5 wins, there is no argument against it.
That Vassell contract is looking not so great right now.
Spurs are just one of those bad teams where any player can look pretty good. Not trying to be sarcastic. It’s just another lost year.
You either develop players or win games can’t do both . Sadly Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will the spurs be
Pros: our best player is 19 years old
Cons: our best player is 19 years old
Mamu only playing 3 minutes is criminal, every time he comes of the bench good things happen
Wemby is definitely playing great but in offense, in my very amateur on the couch opinion, he’s going too many loose shots. Like he gets the ball and tries to drive or create chances. When it looks like he can’t creating anything he just goes for the shot from exactly where he’s standing. What do you all think?
This way of tanking is more acceptable
I’m falling in love with the process
