Guessing Dallas Mavericks Trade Targets NOT NAMED Pascal Siakam | Marc Stein Report
We’re back here at Dallas Mavericks today Harris Graham and Jeffrey Cooper happy New Year and of course yesterday on the channel Coupe had an off day but we talked about Pascal seum there’s been some Buzz around him maybe the Mavs are interested maybe they’re not well Stein
Says that se yakums not at the top of their wish list heading into the NBA trade deadline so Coop and I kind of want to do explore who could be at the top of the Mavericks wish list so we’re going to dive into some names here in
Just a moment but first hit that subscribe button we’re covering the Mavericks all season long in a bit of a low right now hopefully they snap out of it uh soon Kyrie Irving just got back so that’s obviously a positive development hit that subscribe button more Mavericks news rumors trade deadline Buzz we’ll
Definitely have a lot of trade coverage home stand coming up yeah I got to take advantage so we’ll have that all covered hit that subscribe button okay power forwards obviously coup especially in today’s game are kind of tricky cuz you know when Durk was playing like he was
Considered a power forward but obviously he’d be a center today uh and was at the end of his career so it’s kind of hard to find that quality four that can also play on the perimeter because that’s really what you need uh in today’s NBA out of your four because um unless your
Five is going to stretch out to the three-point line uh you just don’t have enough spacing so here are some guys to keep in mind I think this is like a big name to monitor just throughout the trade deadline in general Coupe lri marinin obviously the Jazz are having a
Bit of a disappointing year after having a fairly surprising year last year where they hovered around 500 the whole season but marinin is really come into His Zone the last couple of years coup and I think he’d be a great fit yeah I think this is the biggest name at the trade
Deadline but with being the biggest name I also think he might be the least attainable guy given what the Mavericks have to offer we went over that in yesterday’s video where it’s really not a whole lot what they have to offer lri Markin obviously a great player what
He’s doing this year 23 points a game eight and a half boards shooting very respectable 37 half% from three look I love Lori marinin as a player and he obviously would fit the Mavs I think with the basketball fit but also as a traditional fit because he is a European
Power forward and the Mavs uh like to get those yeah I mean look over the years the Mavs main stars have obviously been European guys Durk Luca por for a little bit while he was here obviously they’ve had other guys from Europe have success like Maxi kba and stuff so I
Think it would be a fit just from a culture standpoint but also from a positional need that we’ve talked about it I you know I’m not just out on Grant Williams completely coup but right now he’s not playing like someone you can start so yeah you really need some help
At that position he’s really struggling right now and I think the maps have identified this early in the season as an area where they have to improve because they need to have someone alongside Derek Lively who’s going to be able to defend those big guys and be
Able to rebound uh because you can’t have Luca doing everything I know that’s kind of what the Mavs are built on but if Luca’s getting eight boards a game I mean you need someone else to be able to grab those boards as well so hopefully they can find a power forward and and
Hopefully ideally Grant Williams you know figures it out and is able to play that position but as of right now it doesn’t look like that’ll be the case yeah he hasn’t been playing good for quite a while I’d say well over like a month at this point I mean pretty much
The whole month of December he was not good yeah pretty bad stretch name of player that the Mavericks should trade for before the deadline throw his name down in the comment section this will be the pen comment on today’s show so go ahead and drop a name right there how
About PJ Washington let’s bring back the PJ Washington rumors Coupe those were circulating for about three months this off season um having a pretty good year again with Charlotte you know my one thing with him has always been like he’s kind of a tweener he can’t really play
Three but he’s not a five either but good news is you do need a day four and he did sign a three-year deal with Charlotte but uh you know I would certainly take him if the price was right yeah I would take him as well the whole offseason with PJ Washington was
Weird because he was a restricted free agent no one really tested the marget for him and then just a couple weeks before the season he signed a three-year deal uh worth about 15 million a season so he’s locked in uh for the next couple of Seasons he’s an intriguing player for
Me a good scorer Off the Bench he’s similar to a guy that we’re going to be talking about later who I just I don’t really think fits exactly what the Mavs are looking for because I think what the Mavs are looking for a guy who’s prioritized def defense and rebounding
Over his offensive game and I think PJ Washington is much more offensive oriented yeah I would definitely agree with that and if you’re going to go the offensive oriented route sure it’s going to cost more but I’d rather get a guy like Markin in here who is a dynamic
Scorer whereas Washington’s a good scorer but he’s not you know a 20 plus Point guy uh okay Today’s Show sponsored by Factor meals rain in the new year with a healthy lifestyle with Factor meals America’s number one ready to eat meal kit tons of different meals available they got protein heavy meals

Day get going with Factor meals how about to buy Harris coup who I feel like at some point every year he always is linked to trade rumors and I feel like the Mavericks are always a team that’s linked to him and you know I do think stylistically he would fit pretty well
Because he’s kind of a textbook four in today’s NBA he can stretch the floor obviously uh he can play back to the basket he can defend multiple positions and in this case he’s on the final year of his contract you just bring him in as
A rental and then see how it goes maybe you sign him on a 2 or threeyear deal if if not no harm no foul uh I’m intrigued by bringing Tobias Harris in here it’s just all about lining up the money to match the deal exactly I think it all
Comes down to asking price would would the Mavericks be willing to give up a first round pick for Tobias Harris I doubt it does it look similar to a deal that they would have to give up for I don’t know a Jeremy Grant or a lari
Markin I’m not sure I think he’s the most affordable guy be just because of that contract and I I also think that the Sixers have been trying to trade this guy for a couple years now and they haven’t been able to do it yeah you wonder if they would be intrigued by a
Two for one with kind of like the anobi deal but it’s different obviously different points in their careers But You’re basically trading two for one where Tobias Harris is the best player in the deal but you send back say Tim Hardway and Maxi kleo something like
That uh where the Sixers had more depth but the Mavs you know upgraded an overall player standpoint so maybe throw a second in there or something I’ve always been intrigued by Tobias Harris I think he’s a good scorer he can can do it off the bounce as well which I think
Is something interesting for a player of his size and stature so he he definitely intrigues me it all just depends on what the asking price from darl Mor is and you know darl Mor loves to maximize that value and the year the Sixers resigned him to that huge deal the Mavs offered
Him 25 a year they just Happ to pay him 35 a year which I do think Philadelphia has I don’t want to say regretted he’s been a good player for them but he certainly is not a you know Mass contract guy which is what they basically ended up paying him now do you
Want a rental or long-term piece at Power Forward Type R for rental L for longterm I mean I I don’t mind a rental Coupe especially for like a guy who’s going to be your number three or number four piece because just bring him in and
If he’s a great fit you can resign him still I mean technically Kyrie was a rental last Kyrie was a rental so just cuz it’s a rental doesn’t mean that that can’t later turn into a piece that’s here Beyond this year so I’m not closing
The books on a guy that might just be here for one year and the reason I’m okay with it too is it’s also not going to cost you as much and it would actually add the Mavs flexibility down the road especially because if you’re giving up guys like kba and Tim Hardway
Have multiple years left on their deal it would clear some money off the books yeah no doubt about it or for rental L for long term well Jeremy Grant would be longterm he just signed that huge contract with Portland this off season and I’ve liked Grant in the past and
It’s not that I still don’t but I hesitate here coup because do I want a guy on a 5year $160 million cont contract that you know is it’s not untradeable but that’s a it’s a big deal for that’s two years Beyond Luca and Kyrie man like I don’t know how I feel
About that it certainly doesn’t really add up with the timeline and I think at this point in time Jeremy Grant as a player doesn’t really fit with the Mavs you take a look at his stats this season 22 points a game just four rebounds and he’s shooting efficiently from the field
46% and a good 42% from three I just think like I said earlier the Mavs are looking for a guy who’s going to give them six to seven rebounds a game and Grant just doesn’t do that he’s a great scorer but that’s all he is yeah and
Like I feel like at one point he was considered a a top Defender but I don’t think he’s really that anymore and my problem with Grant too is that like he just like what is he on a contending team we never SE he’s been on nothing
But P like I don’t want to compare him to Christian Wood like he’s much better than Christian Wood like there’s no there’s no evidence that he’s a bad teammate or anything like that but like I I don’t know if you stick him behind Luca and Kyrie that he’s like super
Effective like I think he’s a good player but for 30 $35 million per year to be a clear number three not rebound and you know the defense is going to come and go I I just I don’t know like I’d rather go the rental option than commit to Jeremy Grant the contract
Certainly gives me pause I mean it was 5 years 160 million that’s a lot of money and like you said it it goes beyond the Luca and Kyrie deals so I I’m not sure that’s something I do any notable contract like honestly 20 million or more that is longer than the Luca Kyrie
Timeline really makes me hesitate because I just I I don’t feel great about that cuz in the worst scenario that could pop up is if Luca decides to leave like again I’m not putting that in the universe I don’t think it’s going to happen but if it does at that point you
Would kind of want to just Embrace a full restart you don’t want to be stuck with Jeremy Grant on your books for two extra years like that’s that’s a disaster like I said good player but not what the Mavericks needed at this time yeah I agree and quite frankly for me
That applies with Draymond GRE as well and I can appreciate the career he’s had but even Draymond just signed a fouryear $100 million contract and Golden State sent him home like they’re like hey man you got to figure your out so uh today is going to pass on Draymond yeah
It look it was three four years ago I I’d probably feel differently I’d swallow my pride on not being a big Draymond fan but um I I just I I can’t do it at this point in his career and again a lot of it’s the contract to be
Honest like if he had one or two year like if he was in that rental if this was last year if he was a rental I would do it yeah I would take but uh I I don’t think I’m doing it for four and 100 million all right so there you go five
Trade targets at the four spot that Dallas could look at some big names here let us know who you uh want the most if you want lri marinin type one if you want PJ Washington type two Tobias Harris you can type three Jeremy Grant type four if you want Draymond we don’t
But if you do type five all right CP final thoughts as we get out of here some more trade rumors to come that we’ll dive into surely and we have a seven game home stand coming up two against Jeremy Grant and those Portland Trailblazers got to win these two games
Get on the right footing here at home so hopefully the maps can do that I’ll keep you guys updated I’ll do some shorts after the game for sure so we’ll uh we’ll keep you guys updated with everything going on all right stay tuned more to come as 2024 is getting started
With the bang he’s Coupe I’m Harrison see you next time
Pascal Siakam is not atop the Mavericks trade target list according to NBA Insider Marc Stein, but who is? On today’s show Harrison Graham and Jeffrey Cooperstein guess who Mavs GM Nico Harrison could make a trade for ahead of the 2024 NBA Trade Deadline. Will a rental like Tobias Harris be in the cards, or could the Mavs swing big for someone like Lauri Markkanen? Grant Williams, who the Mavs signed in 2023 NBA Free Agency, has not been able to get it going alongside Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving in the Mavericks’ rotation, and Mavericks rumors surrounding the PF position have been heating up.

We need a high level role player not another star, we need brogdon, matisse, tobias Drummond or bitadze

3.9 RPG is embarrassing for a starting PF. Take Grant out of consideration.

Andre Drummond would be an upgrade

For me Lauri is a better fit for us than siakam, wouldn’t mind either
