He’s probably chilling on his recliner with a bag of popcorn laughing his ass off

I feel like Davante Adams. Man the grass was not greener at all.

He looks so much more young and healthy in that picture. Less stressed.

Y’all are funny. The defense wouldn’t be better with Bud because there’s no Jrue. It would be the same thing with less adjustments or willingness to try other things. Also our half court offense would probably be last in the league compared to top of the league because of his stupid play random offense. Miss him all you want but he doesn’t make this team any better.

Don’t care could never come into this season with him as coach. Fuck Bud never again

  6. bigbobo33

You guys were yelling for his head same time last year.

I think if we had dame prior to bud being fired he stays. Dame makes up for his shitty offenses and bud makes up for Beas and dame not being able to stop a nose bleed. But the roster with Jrue …bud had to go.

I mean sure but what problem would Bud’s coaching give us instead?

We’re the 21st ranked defense right now with the 3rd best offense. We make fun of the Pacers but we’re *very similar teams*; great offenses, bad defenses.

When we won the championship we had a top 10 offense and defense (4th and 9th respectively). You need a top 15 defense at the very least to be truly considered a good playoff team.

AG has to scheme better. We should not have barely beaten the Spurs. Giannis and Brook should have absolutely bully balled the shit out of him in the paint. He’s 7 feet tall fine, but he weighs about as much as the iPhone I’m typing on and cannot stop physical bigs.

  9. Honestly, I do wonder whether sticking with Bud would have been the right move if we knew Dame was in the cards. After last season, it was clear something needed to change, but dame alone mightve been enough.

The halfcourt offense always ended up turning into Giannis driving into the wall and either (a) turning it over, (b) getting fouled and making at most 1/2, or (c) passing it out to open shooters who never seemed to come through. Having Dame as the primary ballhandler and Khris secondary shouldve helped those issues immensely. I also assume hed be using Dame more on-ball and the pick & roll would be looking a little smoother perhaps.

On defense, they always provided great defensive effort throughout the regular and postseason. We all know about the adjustments, or lack there of, but I really do think the overall scheme made sense and worked outstandingly– for the most part. I think Bud failed to account for the growing number of NBA players who can consistently hit open threes, even in the playoffs.

At the beginning of his tenure. most teams didnt have more than a couple of guys who would consistently hit threes and 1-2 other role players who would go hot/cold, especially in the playoffs. Today, its rare to see playoff teams who ever have more than one non-shooter on the floor and there doesnt seem to be as big of a dip in the playoffs.

Even if Bud wasnt willing to readjust, the offense-for-defense exchange mightve been enough. Its not like Jrue was stopping Jimmy or anyone else last year, even if hes clearly a better defender

For a fans who are happy that Bud was fired, Griffin able to make me kinda missing Bud is something else

We LOVED Bud in the regular season!! It was those pesky 7 game series he would go with out making ANY IN-GAME CHANGES WHAT SO EVER. That’s why dude lost his job. Not because he couldn’t manage a good team, and definitely not because he ran a bad system.

  12. Skeleboi846

If Bud were still coach, Marjon and AJJ would not be seeing the floor and Payne would be seeing more minutes, Pat would be playing potentially more minutes and Robin would absolutely be in rotation as the 5 instead of Giannis while Portis played PF

We wouldnt be playing other defensive schemes like zone and be entirely reliant on the drop without adjustment.

Giannis would not be playing as many minutes and our half-court offence would be just as stagnant as it was when he left. I enjoyed watching Bud’s system in the regular season a fair bit and I’ll always be thankful for the championship run, but people thinking any coaching staff would fix all or most of the defensive problems this team has is being a little over the top.

It’s incredible how much he aged by the time he finished up here, I hope he’s in a better place mentally and physically after a few personal tragedies

did everyone forget that we lost in the first round 2 out of the last 4 seasons? and that Bud couldn’t even call timeouts and got out-coached by almost everyone he faced?

Griffin might suck and i a lot of this sub was confused the hire, but you can’t bring a guy back who consistently sucks in the playoffs
