[Amick] Lakers’ Darvin Ham hot seat chatter is real, but there’s a simple solution: Win

[Source](https://theathletic.com/5179956/2024/01/05/darvin-ham-lakers-hot-seat-nba/?source=user_shared_article) [The Athletic]

Highlights:

– “When you talk to people closer to the situation, it’s Lakers assistant coach Phil Handy who is more often brought up as a possible pick.”

– “A high-ranking Lakers source pushed back against the idea Ham is on the verge of being fired. Still, serious pressure from within is clearly being applied on Ham.”

– “The problem, quite clearly, is that there’s nothing from these past three-plus weeks that makes you feel like they’ll figure it out anytime soon.”

– “More specifically, it’s a major problem that the front office’s summer of roundly praised roster work […] has led to this sort of mess after the way those players meshed so well in last year’s playoffs.”

– “And as Buha detailed […] this week, it doesn’t help Ham’s cause that his messaging has been so different from that of the players in the locker room.”

Will the players want to win playing for a guy they already are “disconnected” with? And apart from the challenges in finding a new coach(which they surely must have), why are people in the FO against it? It’s not like it’s something new. Cut off the problem and go from there. Is the FO truly incompetent that they feel such sentiment in retaining Pockets?

Phil would get his chance if this spirals out of control. BUT since Kurt rambis was former coach why the hell ain’t he telling ham about his dumb ass lineups since he in the power structure in the front office.

Phil Handy would actually hold players accountable and have their respect. He’s always yelling on the sidelines when players screw up their assignments while Darvin stands there jerking off his pockets

It’s insane after winning the in game tourney we have come to this lol

I gave Ham a pass with all the early season injuries.

Now it is all on him. I know we are not 100%, but there is zero reason why there are not set rotations at this point.

Win or lose, we need to build a firm identity where everyone knows there role with the lineup on the floor because it has been consistent for many games in a row.

This was his big article he was talking about yesterday?

The real solution is just play a long series of bad and mediocre teams in a row which the Lakers did earlier this season. Ham looked like a genius then but most of you could have coached W’s from playing those teams.

I just pay attention to the play and record against legit contenders because you’re not even going to see those other teams in the payoffs anyways.

Yeah cuz handy would be an excellent coach smh

Would a seasoned College coach be considered a rookie coach in your mind? Obviously they would be an NBA rookie coach but not a rookie head coach like Ham was.

I wouldn’t mind plucking a coach from the college ranks to see if we can come up with a Brad Stevens type.

The only win that will keep darvin hams job is a championship in June. Any other result he should get fired.

Spoelstra was out of his seat, calling plays, two minutes into the game. He saw an opportunity to beat an uninspired Lakers team and he took it. Where do we get a guy like that??

I’ve always wondered if Handy had head coaching ambitions. He’s been on the bench for 3 titles under 3 different coaches. And He’s right at the age where guys would naturally make the jump from assistant.

Not sure about the X’s and O’s though.

Doc Rivers asking for his job as we speak

Are you guys kidding? We’re shitting on the Ham hiring because he’s a rookie coach, and in order to “fix” this, you’re all clamoring to hire another coach who would be a rookie head coach, but this time without any offseason of any sort

  18. Ja about to drop 40 and get the ball rolling. If not, Westbrook and the clippers licking their lips for a blow out and it’s over

  19. Tylertarian

Did Darvin Ham think about winning games? Is he stupid?

  20. mrgpsingh1999

Also score more points than the opponent. Works every time

    I mean, duh 🙄

The simple solution to being poor: make a lot of money!
