Why Anunoby For Quickley Is The Ultimate WIN-WIN

Why Anunoby For Quickley Is The Ultimate WIN-WIN

The NBA’s first significant inseason trade is done with OG anobi headed from the north to the Big Apple and Emanuel quickley and RJ Barrett going the other way anobi may have been the best player involved in the deal but this trade has the potential to be a winwin for the Knicks and Raptors

Who would have thought The Season’s first big deal would see an agreement reached between two teams currently embroiled in a legal battle for a knick team closer to contention than the Raptors were anobi is a perfect fit the 26-year-old forward is a star in his role as an all World Defender and spot

Up shooter a connective piece who fits seamlessly within any roster construct that the Knicks acquired OG while getting off RJ’s contract and breaking up up the Barrett Julius Randall pairing is icing on the cake New York was never sniffing a championship while paying both Randall and Barrett two high volume

Poor Shooters prone to bouts of tunnel vision and inconsistent defense Randall had clearly established himself as something closer to a secondary star than Barrett and anobi should compliment Randall and star guard jayen Brunson better than Barrett did it’s also a pretty safe bet that the pending unrestricted free agent will remain in

New York OG is a client of the agency Nicks president Leon Rose once worked for CAA Rose’s son is Anan obi’s agent and the Knicks have already stockpiled CA clients on the court and the sidelines yeah certainly have a type it’s not all roses for the Knicks though

Pardon the pun losing quickly hurts on several fronts the uptempo guard gave the plotting Nicks a different gear Off the Bench and in replacing quickly and Barrett with anobi the Knicks now have a lot less self-creation there’s still another impact P player away from full-blown contention but they also

Might have just moved their best trade chip in quickly and assuming they resign OG who could command a Max contract that starts around $42.6 million a year anything approaching Max cap space is likely off the table this summer still anobi a sensible upgrade for where this

Team is trying to go and if nothing else throw in’s precious auua and Malachi Flynn at least bring some untapped potential worth taking a flyer on especially in the case of a Chua as for the Raptors this trade was about moving one step closer to a Scotty Barnes L

Future after being paralyzed by indecision for the better parts of two seasons the Raptors had grown woefully stale Toronto badly needed a breath of fresh air enter quickly as a fast guard who can create for himself serve as a pull-up threat and shoot from Deep quickley a perfect fit beside Barnes

Over the last two seasons quickley averaged roughly 15 points in less than 28 minutes per game while shooting nearly 52% inside the ark 38% from deep and 83% from the free throw line among 63 players who’ve attempted at least four pull-up shots per game this year Quickly’s effective field goal percentage of

53.8% ranks sixth a 41% shooter on catch and shoot threes quickly speed also allows him to attack Closeouts and get to his floater range where he’s a 75th percentile finisher among combo guards according to cleaning the glass while not a pure point guard he’s a solid secondary playmaker who takes care of

The ball and should Thrive playing with a point forward like Barnes he’s also a good on ball Defender at the point of attack with no star guard in front of him the 24-year-old should finally be able to spread his wings as a full-time starter the big question is whether

Quickly’s production and efficiency can scale up with increased minutes and usage if it does we’re talking about Tyrese Maxi like potential with more defensive upside he’s good in turning anobi into a young guard who can Thrive alongside Barnes for years to come the Raptors also traded an unrestricted free

Agent for one of the restricted variety with Toronto owning the right to match any rival offers for quickly this summer now for many Canadian fans the inclusion of Barrett is what made this deal exciting given his age and the scoring skills Barrett possesses in a 6 fo6 214

Lb frame the 23-year-old still has All-Star upside but the reality is he’s been a mostly frustrating player through five seasons aside from shooting 40% from Deep during his sophomore season Barrett has scored at below average efficiency from every area of the court in every year of his career meanwhile

His playmaking and defense have stagnated or regressed he does provide more ball handling and self-creation than OG did but the results have thus far suggested barretts not cut out for a primary or even secondary role and to fit in as something less than that on a good team think the role fellow kanuck

Andrew Wiggins found in Golden State Barrett would have to suddenly become a good three-point shooter as Wiggins miraculously did in his seventh season hey it could happen if Barrett can play himself into a role as part of the Raptor Barnes L future or even to a point where he can be flipped for

Surplus value then this trade goes from good to a home run for the wraps who also acquired the likely 31st pick in this year’s draft from the Knicks via Detroit it will also be fascinating to see whether this move changes Toronto’s plans for Pascal seaka who just weeks

Ago we were convinced needed to be traded does a more sensibly built core with quickly replacing anunobi mean cakam and Barnes can better coexist with one UFA now out of the picture the Raptors might not feel the same pressure to move seak if they’re not blown away

By a trade offer and believe they can resign the two-time allstar to a contract they’re comfortable with perhaps the Ws retain cakam and consider moving him later in in any event they’re unlikely to find a trade as mutually beneficial as the deal they made with the Knicks two division rivals on the

Court and in the courts put their differences aside to strike what could prove to be a perfect deal thanks for watching if you like this video and want to see more content like this be sure to hit that subscribe button

  1. I've always been an RJ Believer. I'm sure he's gonna take another step in Toronto, becoming more consistent. A change of scenery often helps guys, we've seen that time and time again. Sending him home again, into a familiar environment, can only have positive effects.

  2. I don't know… I feel like another lawsuit from New York is coming soon when they realize it's still not enough to get em past Bucks, Celtics, 76ers, maybe even Heat and Cavs

  3. quickley trade is exciting part with this as we suffered due to OG's poor shooting selections at times nycknicks could utilise him smartly to help brunson

  4. og is good but he's taking this team from a possible 45 wins and a first round exit to a possible 50 wins and a second round exit, a slight win for the team but not a needle mover, either og needs to create more of his shots or jb needs to become a better passer cause ny is not beating any contenders in a playoff matchup

  5. As of 1/4/2024:

    Julius Randle this season
    35.7 MPG
    24.4 PPG
    9.5 RPG
    4.7 APG
    0.6 SPG
    0.2 BPG
    47.8 FG% on 18 attempts a game!
    28.9 3pt%
    76.6 FT%
60.3% true shooting percentage (TS) which is above average league wise & position wise.

  6. It was 5 years !!!! What did Barrett show you that would've made U believe A Special Quality was waiting to EXPLODE ( ILL WAIT ) OG has done things in 2 ( TWO ) games that Barrett just could never do !!! Fake Knick Fans go to the cliff and yessss just do it !!!!!!! Okkkkk PEACE ✌

  7. IDGAF about the tlk. knicks in the playoffs with rj gone and pieces that actually fit. iq is ok. but that's it, ok. he will be missed for a lil while but that's thibbs fault. he should've been playing deuce more, now u need him. iq will be made up for in a few games. the team looks different when og is on the court. that's instant impact! if raptors get good enough to make it out the play in this yr πŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏ to them. πŸ€·πŸΏβ€β™‚οΈ. all i care about is what we got.

  8. I totally dont underatand how can this be a win win. Unless you are unreasonably overrating OG who is also by the way, just a rental… to me og = quickley…. then you got a barrett and an early second rounder….achiuwa and flynn are a dime a dozen type roster fillers. Interchangeable with good gleague players. OG is basically just a 3 & D guy who has NO championship experience (injured during '19 title run) in case knicks are banking on his "championship pedigree".

  9. RJ Barrett is thinking long term here. He's canadian. Long term as in raptors head office to retirement or percentage of ownership.
    Hey it could happen.

  10. Is it really? Knicks, imo, probably just evened out as before. You got much better on defense, but now your offense took a hit, less options, and now more predictable. Your bench hasnt improved as well, maybe even now became a liability w precious' inconsistency. If this team was an 8/10 before, now its an 8.5.
