Long tonight that was a bad one I mean the analysis is basically the Boston Celtics are very good probably the best team in the NBA the Utah Jazz are not at one point the Jazz were shooting 6% from three like near the end of the second quarter they had made like one

For 15 and it was just like what is this Jazz team doing uh but anyways you know I mentioned I went with Tatum and and porzingis on the overs Tatum hit porzingis would have but he got pulled in the third so thanks a lot Jazz I it’s one of the most annoying

Things with this Jazz team though is that the consistency sometimes especially against these good teams and it’s a reminder of who this Jazz team is and what the long-term goal is you know even last not at last postgame show talking about this Jazz team we’re talking about possible traits and by the way

A lot of rumors out there we’re going to have to do some stuff tomorrow I’m going to have to get something up because I got to talk about the different things that are going on uh but anyways this this Boston Celtics team is incredibly complete in every aspect they’re

Probably going to add someone else during trade deadline they have a $6 million trade exception so I don’t know really who’s going to fit into that that really impacts the game for them that much but you know that starting lineup is just monstrous and you know it took care of a

Jazz team that is not very good uh offensively sometimes and absolutely destroyed them and then defensively the Jazz couldn’t do anything and the Jazz have not been good defensively this year so it’s why the Celtics you know shot as a team they shot what is it 34% which

Seems way low compared to what it looked like uh but Tatum was 5 for eight look at that uh christs porzingis was just a dominating Force for them the they just kept fouling him and he just kept knocking down his free throw do G he

Missed to I would have got there uh but anyways nice night for the Boston Celtics um for the Jazz it was not a nice night it was a sucky night it was a bad night how else do we describe it it was terrible it was bad uh you know

There’s not even a lot of analysis to go through it no one played well like no one played well zero jazz players played well uh Walker the biggest point of interest and I know a lot of jazz fans are talking about it is Walker Kessler not playing the Jazz play again tomorrow

Against the the the Philadelphia 76ers and I’m guessing they probably noticed that the Jazz were not going to win this game this game very early and did not want to waste uh Walker Kessler’s energy so he got 14 minutes of cardio and sat and the Jazz Road John Collins he

Had had five fouls he never actually fouled out so good for him uh 11 rebounds two assists uh 12 points but man the Jazz just got smoked uh Markin had a pretty good second half but it was after you know the Celtics weren’t exactly putting like the absolute metal

Pedal to the metal and you know he did well in garbage time I guess but that’s not that promising of a thing uh yeah really not great I mean I I will say this it’s sometimes you’ll just have bad losses especially when you’ve got a team like this Jazz team who is still

Figuring out what it is and I they’re still rebuilding I mean this was just a reminder about that is that this Jazz team is rebuilding a lot of these wins they’ve had have been against teams like the Detroit Pistons and I mean they barely beat the Pistons who have won

What three games this year so uh Utah barely beats the Pistons they have to go to overtime to do it and so maybe we shouldn’t be all that surprised that when they go against like the elite team one of the elite teams in the NBA they get absolutely throttled uh you

Know there were a lot of things about this game that could have gone better one of them is if the Jazz could have just shot the ball well I mean this is just not a very good shooting team uh six for 30 look at that 177% from three

For the game 177% from three is bad when you take 34 of them and you make six it’s really bad and you’re not going to win games with that 67% let’s see from the field 36% so you know some of that you got to give credit to the Boston Celtics

Defense but some of it was just the Jazz were not hitting shots and sometimes when I see something like this and the Jazz aren’t hitting shots it tells you something about the mentality of the team where they didn’t believe they were going to win this game I don’t think

There was a single jazz player that was like we’re going to beat the Celtics tonight it was not a good showing I was disappointed I was disappointed in all the teams yes and that’s you know that’s me talking like a dad I guess like I was just very disappointed I’m not mad I’m

Just disappointed but it was it was not the effort you want to see and you know I guess sometimes you’re just going to have nights where you don’t shoot the ball well but you know what I think sometimes confidence gets that ball in the basket some more than more often

Than not if you’re shooting your shot confidently uh you’re going to make more shots and you got to give some credit to the Boston Celtics for that because of so much of what defense is especially in the NBA is just getting people uncomfortable getting them out getting

Them not confident in what they’re doing right and that’s what the Boston Celtics did but there were a lot of shots in this game I forgot to bring down this uh there were a lot of shots in this game where the Jazz were just not playing confident they played soft

Defensively they were just not impressive and there was just not an element of this game to really to really hang your hat on I’ll be honest it was not bu good shout out to the people watching this live if you’re watching this live after a game

Like that you are one of the most dedicated Jazz fans and Hoops nerd fans out there the you guys are the true Hoops nerds being here tonight I’ll just tell you that uh but you know what let’s just I mean this is not going to be long

Next four within the next three games they play Denver and it’s going to be brutal uh so we might be looking at 0 and four for this Jazz team did I just see a ghost the heck was that all right so anyways uh the the Jazz fall to 10th and

The starting lineups and the different lineups basically tell you what uh the goal of the team is John Collins starting is not because the Jazz are thinking he’s a better player than Walker Kessler cuz we all know he’s not we all the ghost of I saw something like move across the

Room there I don’t know I don’t know I guess they’re listening to the show too but anyways now I’m going to Spook myself uh but anyways uh they’re trying to trade John Collins and that was the rumor today that came from Mark Stein uh from his slop today and uh I

Because they would like to trade him that is it that is the explanation the Jazz are more interested in collecting assets than they are in winning games yes the goal is to collect assets and likely convey this pick because of multiple reasons one they don’t have to

Going to pay 10 million bucks um Jesse James you’re amazing what the thing that some people are telling me is that when we get the pick swaps from Cleveland in fact let’s just look should we just do this again live because who cares if you’re watching this you’re my

Best friend um I I remember this Sports Illustrated one was quite accurate let’s see um let’s see 2023 okay so uh this was last year got uh on our first pick that was Taylor Hendrick Minnesota gave us uh Keon George thanks Minnesota um’s all right 2024 top 10 protected if

It if goes to OKC if if it falls out of the top 10 right everyone understands that if not um you know put it in the chat but if the Jazz are in the top 10 this year they keep their pick if not it goes to OKC and they would like that to

Happen they would like it to go to OKC uh the Jazz do not care where they end this year but they would like to be at least 11th in the league uh or at least outside of the lottery right so they would like their pick to fall somewhere

11th or later in the draft uh 2025 the Jazz own their own pick but guess what if this does not convey to OKC then this becomes top 10 protected once again that’s the problem that’s the problem it once again the Jazz have to worry about where they stand the Jazz

Would much rather just have it convey then next year they don’t have to worry because what if they you know resign Lowry and find some trade for a player and they become pretty decent that you know you don’t want to have to worry about that youd like your pick this is a

Good draft by the way this is the Cooper flag draft which we’ve talked about it’s a good draft um they also get Cleveland Cavaliers unprotected first- round pick the first of the Cleveland Cavaliers Trad so next year is going to be pretty great lots of draft talk next year

That’s going to be fun and then look at this Minnesota Timberwolves unprotected first round pick what’s kind of cool about this season is the Timberwolves are awesome and we don’t get their pick so it doesn’t even matter they’re going to have to worry about things like Mike Conley’s contract

And things that expires this year what if they become bad I don’t know you know Rudy last year wasn’t very good he had back issues what if what if those back issues come back and stuff like that you know and Cleveland has got big time problems with Donovan Mitchell

Already uh so this is an interesting one to watch but they’d like to convey and like we said if the pick does not go to KC if the Jazz are in 1 through 10 and they keep their pick then this becomes 1 through 10 protected once again all right

2026 they own their first round pick again and this is the first of the pick swaps so Mr whoever you are you are incorrect I was right okay and I’m G to I think I’m going to try to get a guy that knows this better so like maybe I

Sound arrogant right now but I’m pretty sure uh from things I’ve read we own our first round pick but again if it does not convey this year or 2025 in 2026 guess what this swap can go away because if you give your pick to uh I

Believe that’s the case that if you give your pick to Oklahoma City and by the way the other reason this is bad is at so this year it’s top 10 protected guess what next year it’s top 10 protected in 2026 if we still do not give it to

Oklahoma City that means this year it’s 1 through eight so it’s actually more likely that we don’t and guess what we lose the swap you know what would be really bad if the Jazz were pretty darn good like let’s say they win Cooper flag like we have the Miracle of

Miracles and by the way I’ll take that if we can win Cooper flag and somehow you can keep Lowry Markin and just rest him lots him lots of PTO next year and you get Cooper flag we captured the flag it’s amazing we did it but then 2026 this is one through eight

Protected that scary stuff and if you know if you’re a good team let’s say Walker Kessler Walker Kessler is gonna be better this is two years for keontay George you think keontay George’s not going to get better he is so this swap goes away what if Minnesota’s terrible that year you

Know probably not but what if they have you know what if they have a two catastrophic injuries or something crazy happens and all of a sudden it’s a top five pick and we don’t have our swap because we’re giving our pick to to Oklahoma City you can bet the Jazz would

Be going like um we’re resting everybody every single night right and this is a swap so we don’t get Minnesota’s pick it’s just a swap and for those who don’t know what a swap is you’re just you get the better of the picks so if let’s say the Jazz are like

The 20th team in you know they fall to 20th because they’re a pretty good playoff team and Minnesota’s like bottom five you’re screwed you’re screwed so it’s a tough situation to be in for the Jazz and they have some big- time decisions because you know they can

Beat some of these bad teams and I think they will eventually get to like maybe you know especially with the news today with golden state and all these guys Lakers are going to fire their coach a bunch the Jazz got to win one of these Road games they got to beat Philadelphia

Or something Philadelphia got smoked by New York so they’re going to come and try to just demolish the Jazz H it’s just a tough it’s a tough road trip right now for Utah but anyways uh Utah is then going to uh man it’s going to be tough hopefully Houston

Starts sucking uh they lost uh but anyways so does that make sense I hope that makes sense um and yeah like I said this is one through it becomes 1 through 10 here one through eight so if you’re the ninth worst team like they were last

Games you know it’s nice to see Colin seon having a Rejuvenation and the Jazz are winning and look pretty good and I think uh in fact let’s just look at the Jazz schedule here for a second uh Utah Jazz schedule let’s just bring this up in fact we can probably just go

To basketball rep let’s see um is this the right one yes okay so so far and they lost to Boston and I got destroyed so look they play Philadelphia Milwaukee Denver this is brutal brutal and guess what they’re probably losing all three cuz they’re playing Philadelphia on back end of a

Back toback on the road Ro Milwaukee will be the third game in four nights then they get to come home and play Denver on ESPN so everyone on national TV can watch Nicola yic just obliterate the Jazz uh it’s just a absolutely going to happen but things can change after

That they play Toronto Los Angeles Indiana can’t stop anyone defensively can the Utah figure things out golden state is struggling Steve Kerr overrated head coach uh Oklahoma City looks like one of the top three teams in the NBA it’s crazy uh and then they start getting into games where they just have

To win and there’s here’s where you can just see them kind of going on a roll again uh and then when you look at the end of the year these are kind of interesting games like La is probably resting guys Denver’s probably resting guys this is actually an interesting end

Of the season because these games these guys might be you know I don’t know it’s going to be an interesting season so uh there’s a lot on the line you can see why the Jazz would just much rather convey their pick uh mostly because it really matters when you look

At 204 and especially 2025 and I know that’s going down the road a little bit you know what’s crazy is the Jazz get the the Los Angeles Lakers pick in 2027 you know what else is crazy about those drafts this doesn’t even mention 2029 I I believe we have I can’t

Remember if it’s Minnesota I think it’s Cleveland we have a 2029 pick so whoever Jared cotch is you didn’t get that right buddy you should have put 2029 on there because they still get Cleveland at in 2029 it’s Bonkers it’s crazy just incredible trades and so the Jazz you

Know it’s a tough season right now it really stinks that we probably won’t get a first- round pick I hope we don’t I really hope we don’t because I don’t want to I want this Jazz team to have full flexibility and freedom these upcoming seasons and that’s that’s

Through the roof and John Collins is his size and we have him at Center and you know I know John Collins shoots the ball and he’s got bounce and all this stuff but the Jazz just don’t have that guy you know John Colin you know I love

Lowry marinan he is a number two at best on championship team nothing wrong with that nothing wrong with that but uh and he had some nice moments tonight showed some nice things against a really good team but the Jazz need that guy and you don’t trade for that guy because who’s trading

Them if you had Luca donic on this Jazz team would you if you had Jason Tatum would you trade them for a collection of picks and players from the Jazz of course of course not of course you wouldn’t back in the day would you have traded John Stockton for a collection of

You know Dallas Mavericks like James Johnson and three first round picks for John Stockton of course not no one’s doing that same reason why Boston’s not doing that so the Jazz have to find a way to get that guy it’s just it’s just a fact and if you think otherwise well

I’m sorry you’re you know hopefully the Jazz maybe you know keontay George develops into something special which I think he will I think keay George can be an All-Star level guard uh if he continues to develop and I think that he can be a starting point guard on a

Championship team but I don’t know if he is going to be the focal point of your offense to win a championship probably not but that doesn’t matter the Jazz are trying to collect assets and pieces with these drafts but they do have to find

That top five top 10 guy but can’t be le can’t be less than top 10 type player you have to have an MVP candidate you just do if you want to win a championship it’s just hard with especially with salaries and how you have to spread out salaries on overtime

And everything there’s only five guys on the floor one of them has to be a dominant player and Boston has like four of those guys but they have a MVP caliber guy in Jason Tatum and he showed it tonight 30 points 50 from the field 62% from three

He took 14 free throws and made 13 of them nine rebounds five assists I mean he just crushed the Utah Jazz just crushed him and Utah needs that guy we need our guy you know so uh maybe Cooper flag is that guy I hope so
