Ajax and Marjon are next up

Leave Pat and Cam glued to the bench for awhile and let these two play. Bobby “needs” to play insofar as he’s the backup 5 but if the Bucks sign Kai Jones to a two way he should play over Bobby.

I’d love for anybody to try and argue Pat/Cam/Bobby should play over Ajax or Marjon after watching last night. One game yada yada but Ajax and Marjon are the only ones outside of Giannis who have an iota of perimeter stopping ability. They have to play and play a lot. I don’t give a fuck they’re young. They’re better than the “vets” who’ve been playing like dogshit. Get serious AG. Do what must be done

I’m not sold on Marjon. Last night alone, in the 10 minutes I watched (en route to being down 20 at the half), he had one dumb, terribly late foul and dribbled the ball off his foot. Every layup or slam attempt is also an adventure.

Griff is making the classic mistake in roster building. You don’t have to play 5 offensive minded players in the starting lineup. There needs to be a mix of penetrators, facilitators, shooters, and defenders. Every time that Team USA loses in world competition is because they lump a bunch of one-dimensional offensive players together.

Ajax has to play more often. Who cares if he can’t score. There’s more than enough scorers on the floor when he’s out there. He has to get his fouls under control, but again, who cares? He’s taking the load off of Dame, khris, and Beas. If Ajax fouls out, then play Marjon. Hell, even play Livingston, but we have to always have a defensive-minded player out there on the perimeter to mask Dame’s weaknesses.

Yup…. It means giving some stuff up in the short term so be it. Get those two as many reps and minutes as possible against the other team’s best so it pays off when MKE needs it.

so I’m asking honestly I don’t know. What is the skill set required to not die on screens or to work through them? Is it simply a matter of Will? Is it like lateral quickness? Is it core strength and balance? is it more of a basketball IQ thing? Is it an explosive step? what is the skill set that separates those that work through those screens and the ones that just die?
