POSTGAME REACTION: Orlando Magic vs. Minnesota Timberwolves, 1/9/24.
Coach they’re obviously the best in the West for for a reason but what did you see as the the reasons they were able to take control of this one early tonight they length you know they they they do a great job of packing the paint in and
You know to keep guys honest you have to knock shots down uh and that early in that first quarter we got a bunch of Great Looks and those shots didn’t go in and by the time that happened that that lead kept building uh again you have to
Give them credit they did a heck of a job of packing the paint making it physical and tough on Paulo and and and I think what happens in that situation and go back to it again if if you’re not knocking those shots down to spread the
Defense out a little bit it’s it becomes tough Paul Anthony played about seven minutes is is he healthy what led to that yeah that thigh you know that that that right thigh contusion uh kind of flared up on him again how much did you think your team missed him on in the
Second half or when he wasn’t on the court you know when you’re down bodies you you you need as many as you can have in in those moments and and so you know it’s tough but you know you get got to give our guys Credit in that second half
The eight guys that came out there and played they gave everything they had you win the second half you fight the right way but again you got to give Minnesota a ton of credit they are the number one team in the West FL reason uh because
They defend at a high level uh they have guys that can make shots and they the the matchups become tough in certain areas I know you don’t want to use injuries as an excuse and and the guys guys did fight as you say but but how
Much is their aware and tear on on especially someone like Pao who’s having to carry such a such a huge creation burden with all the injuries that you guys have been facing over the last week well like I told the group in there you know what they they they they battled in
Sacramento they battled in Denver they came back and battle and it’s tough to come home on a road trip you know you know playing Atlanta and getting that one and doing that with basically eight bodies you know it does take its toll but it’s not an excuse the guys aren’t
Looking for excuses but again we’ll be better uh coming out against Miami and you know it’s just a day of rest will be good for our guys the guys that are sick the guys that are banged up it’ll be good to get more bodies back in you know
Healthy just a second game back 13 minutes tonight un limited action for Mark helan able to kind of get on the scoreboard kind of get some of those Jitters out but how do you assess you know him moving forward especially his offensive game getting really back into
The rhythm of everything I think we’ll have to look at a couple more games before I can fully assess what that looks like I mean I know they talk about it you know analytically it’s like a small sample size and this is a very small sample size and basically you know
27 minutes of of of play and second question to that really quickly though is he missed out on a couple jumpers looked like he kind of hesitated a little bit that’s something that you want to see him as of right now early on contining to take those jumpers even if
He’s missing just to kind of get his confidence level up well I just think he he’s going to continue to read and take what the game gives you and and I think because of the length of this team you know being able to we weren’t making a
Lot of shots early so him coming down and casting another shot you know is something that he’s reading in the game he gets in the Gap and then he finds and penetrates in the gaps to find other guys which is one thing he’s great at
And so I think being able to read the game in one sense but also knowing what the flow of that game is happening thank you how important are those moments to just kind of find find that little spur and and and kind of spark a little bit of some little bit of
Something in this team oh it’s very important because again like it’s another chance to get better and play basketball whether you win or lose um we get to come out here and continue to grow as a unit and I think we responded really well I mean we come out we wion
The second half like you know so for as bad as it felt for as heavy as it felt you know we came out we responded when we were down 30 and could have you know said forget it you know not playing hard you know want to make that that extra
Kick pass you know I want to shoot my shot don’t want to rotate um you know the one more man on defense uh we came out and we did all those things and we won the second half you got to look at it glass half full um you know and take
These opportunities as blessings cuz that’s what they are we’re waking up we get to come play basketball we get to be around a great group of guys and it don’t get no better than that so and wins and losses yeah like you said it stays the same I mean we’re a unit we’re
A family and we’re going to go Laugh Tomorrow get better and uh and life goes on yeah and I think we all love the cam camaraderie that you guys have um when so when so many people are out right now being hurt do you feel like do you feel
Responsible to have to step up as a leader and kind of you know take some load help Paulo step up and maybe get a couple more shots or looks for other people uh I don’t think I feel any of that I just come out and try to do my
Job and stay solid um I got a lot of trust in these guys I see them put the work in every day from Ab btq k um it’s great to have him back uh moit who’s been playing Amazing um you know we’re all around each other every day
And so I see the progression and the growth from everybody so I don’t feel the need to make a home run player you know to come in and do something extraordinary uh you know on these nights I come in do my job do what asked and uh and play winning basketball and
Um some days it works out some days it doesn’t that’s the grind of this league and that’s why we play 82 gam so that you can have nights like this you can throw away keep it pushing and uh keep smiling man one more Jaylen um coach mostley said that you’re a top five
Player in defense at the pregame how do you evalate your own season at this time you said what what was the last part play how do you evoluate um your season at this time um I think I’ve done pretty well um you know there’s definitely areas to improve
Um you know I want to handle the ball better I want to become better decisionmaking and P pick and role and um and my patience when I’m getting down there in the pain things like that um so there definitely areas of growth um but I mean I’ve been available uh which
Which is the best part you know for is however well everything else is going I’ve been available and I’ve been been able to play with these guys um you know and that’s something that I was missing you know for two years you know partly on myself and partly uh you know that’s
Just how life Works um so to be to be available to keep playing to keep growing um and having a chance to get better um you know it’s been a blessing and uh yeah we’re going to keep doing that keep smiling man and uh yeah we’re throw we throwing this one away throwing
This one away we going to keep working thanks John appreciate yall

This roster absolutely sucks. Sliding in the East. Play-in game is in the future.
Our medical staff should be fired! 6 players out! It's not just this season! The last 5 years our players get hurt more than any other team its insane. 😥ðŸ˜
The Timberwolves are going to be a problem for anybody they face. We got punched in the mouth and couldn't find many combinations to fight back. We'll bounce back though
