[Wojnarowski] The Grizzlies are waiving center Bismack Biyombo, sources tell ESPN. He made a good impact with franchise and could be brought back again. Memphis is expected to add another big on a newly available two-way contract.

Lots of people have talked about getting a back up big. I’ve not watched Memphis much but I know he’s a decent rim protector. He averages 5 ppg and 6.4 rpg. His salary is $5m a year but he’s a UFA after this season.

I actually would really like this addition. 15 minutes a game. I’m sure he’s a nice guy, but Jock is simply not an nba caliber player to me. Certainly not a “minutes for a playoff squad” guy

  3. He deff could help, hes ben ptretty good giving senfun fits and could really give a good defense block, stop, rebound over some big ass big foots

  4. This would really help Al-P and Uncle Jeff in rotation.

I keep seeing people talk about us needing to sign Biyombo so Alpi can practice against him or so that some other western conference team doesn’t get him. Like what? Alpi struggling against Biyombo thing is based on tiny sample size. Alpi was 50% against Bismack last year [https://www.nba.com/stats/team/1610612745/matchups?CF=DEF_PLAYER_NAME*E*Bismack:OFF_PLAYER_NAME*E*sen&Matchup=Offense&Season=2022-23](https://www.nba.com/stats/team/1610612745/matchups?CF=DEF_PLAYER_NAME*E*Bismack:OFF_PLAYER_NAME*E*sen&Matchup=Offense&Season=2022-23).

Bismack is 6ft8. He is a bulky but a very undersized big. Those type of bigs are tough to move in the post but Alpi has other weapons to use against them. Most importantly Bismack does not address this team’s need for a shot blocker/rim protector. I like the Jaxson Hayes idea better.

The problem is we’re already not a good offensive team. I don’t see many lineups especially with our 2nd unit that’ll be a net positive with Biyombo in it.
