[King] Incredible Joe Mazzulla moment just now. He ended his press conference today like this: “Before I forget, no one’s ever asked me what my favorite scene from The Town was. I know you guys all know that’s my favorite movie but no one’s ever been curious about what my favorite scene is?”

Incredible Joe Mazzulla moment just now.

He ended his press conference today like this: “Before I forget, no one’s ever asked me what my favorite scene from The Town was. I know you guys all know that’s my favorite movie but no one’s ever been curious about what my favorite scene is?”

After a reporter guessed it was the robbery in Charlestown, Mazzulla replied, “Nah. That’s my second favorite one. My favorite one is Doug MacRay is getting ready to leave town and he skips by the FBI’s car and leaves a nice, well thought out handwritten note underneath the antennae and then gets out of town. That’s my favorite scene.”

For reference, here’s the note Doug left: Go fuck yourself

Chris Forsberg on X: Joe using The Town as a way to covertly tell the NBA what he thinks of its Last 2 Minute report is kind of amazing.

  2. Idk what I make of this guy but his obsession with The Town is kinda hilarious

I truly root against the Celtics every chance I get but goddamnit if Joe isn’t the exact kind of weirdo I love lol

I feel like everyone just assumed it was the scene where Ben Affleck tells Jeremy Renner he needs his help to go beat up some guys and to not ask any questions about why, and Renner responds “Which car are we gonna take?”

  5. It only took him one watch to know that Affleck was covering up Renner’s tattoo

The Town and the book it’s based on are both great.

If y’all like podcasts, The Rewatchables podcast is a Ringer podcast about movies and they did The Town with Bill, Russillo, and Chris Ryan and it’s probably the funniest podcast ever made.

Because everyone’s favorite scene from the Town is the “who’s car are we taking” scene. Every other choice would just be inaccurate.

I know the Ringer and Bill Simmons are hit or miss on this sub but I implore everyone to go watch The Rewatchables episode on The Town. All time great content, might be the funniest podcast I’ve ever listened to

It has to have gotten to the point now where our Boston reporters are just having a ball with him now. He’s found the perfect balance of sarcasm and professionalism and it must be so fun and scary at the same time to ask him anything.

one of my friends played under him at fairmont. apparently one day, after practice, all the other players had left the court, and it was just my friend and joe mazzulla left.
joe got this intense look in his eyes and said, “hey, wanna learn something special?” my friend was kind of curious and was like sure definitely. joe mazzulla proceeded to pull out a cassette tape of anderson silva highlights and popped it into an old tv/ver combo he had in his office. they sat down and watched it together, with joe occasionally pausing the tape to explain a particular move or technique. he was like, gently grunting throughout.
after they finished watching, joe said, “now it’s your turn.” he had my friend stand up and try to replicate silva’s moves, with joe providing really close guidance and feedback. they went on like this for hours, joe never once losing his enthusiasm or energy. my friend, on the other hand, was completely exhausted by the end and just passed out. he woke up with joe feeding him ice chips and cradling him in his arms with the tape still playing in the background.
my friend never forgot that night, and he’s told me it was one of the most memorable experiences of his basketball career. we still laugh about it sometimes, and it’s become kind of a running joke between us. but maybe there’s some truth to the idea that anderson silva’s moves can be applied to the basketball court. or maybe joe mazzulla just really, really loves anderson silva

This was the key to the Celtics victory, can’t beat him with a guy named Towns on our roster
