I get the whole “don’t feel bad for someone making $19M to sit there”… but damn… can’t help but feel the Knicks are killing a dude’s career just to use him as a trade piece

His defense is just so piss poor, I can’t seem cracking the rotation for any other team currently competing for a playoff spot.

  2. Cautious-Ad-9554

Would love to have some drinks with him the night he gets traded

i don’t give a shit about fournier. grimes is young and can play more mins on days josh hart fucking stinks. same with deuce.

  4. If he was that good teams would be trying to trade for him. Instead he’s getting mad money to watch basketball. If he was that sad he could also ask for a buyout.

I can’t imagine bringing myself to give the flyingest of fucks to care about Evan Fournier. Do you have any idea how much $19M is? If this dude would rather play basketball for nothing than do nothing to obtain generational wealth then that’s on him and he can go play pickup games in gay Paris.

But he hasn’t walked out cause he knows he’s one of the luckiest handful of people on the entire planet.

He was definitely mad in the summer but he’s a team guy hopefully he gets traded at the deadline

Fournier has almost no value in the NBA getting minutes

Worst perimeter defender of all-time, not a playmaker, not a rebounder, and his one asset is shooting 3s, which everyone and their grandmother can do nowadays

So he should be grateful he’s getting 20M this year and maybe next year as well

Fournier wants to play he can play in practice. If you get that much you’re risking this.

This implies that he would get rotation minutes on another nba team. He would not. Its like people forget why Thibs took him out of the rotation in the first place.

  10. LiveLeave

He can negotiate an opt out and do whatever he wants with his life.

  11. adamisonfire88

Can’t imagine him being any better than Joe Harris who can’t even get any minutes in DET

idc i’m ruthless he’s a valuable trade piece lol

I really don’t think this will happen for a number of reasons, but we do have a team option on him for next year and in theory it’s within our rights to re-sign him in order to use him as a salary matching expiring contract next year if we can’t find any suitable trade this year. Again, don’t think that will happen, but I’m sure he’s thought about that possibility and will be glad to be traded by this year’s deadline.

Playing Fournier, especially with Thibs’ defensive system, would actively hurt the team. His complaining over the summer also removes any sympathy.

Man has made $127m in his career to date. He can choose to ride out his contract (and be thankful that he is being paid $20m not to play) or he can take matters into his own hand and try to negotiate an early termination if he’s not interested in raking up all the DNPs.

    Fournier is a grown man.

  15. He’s terrible. Thibs put him into the pacers game after the trade out of necessity and the dude went 0/4 with an air balled layup in 5 minutes. Anyone asking why he doesn’t play didnt watch him play when he was signed.

Once the IQ and RJ deal was done him being left on the roster feels 1000x more awkward. Because apparently we need “depth” and his value must be at an all time low. It makes sense to at least run him out there.

  17. frankslastdoughnut

This is what not working on your defense does to a guy

  18. IM_FIGHTING_HAIRLOSS

hes making tens of millions just sitting around

  19. aesop_fables

I do feel bad at times that we’ve wasted his prime but then I consider the fact that he’s not that good and no team has come calling (or at least at a price we deem good enough?). Then I consider he’s making $19M/year. He will be just fine.

  20. benevenstancian0

This is true, but the inverse is – they’ve been trying to trade him *for years* and haven’t found anyone that wants him at that price for that long. It’s not like he is being prohibited from playing for teams desperate for his services.

  21. wizardofweird

We gave him a contract that was likely worth more than he would’ve otherwise made for the rest of his career. There’s nothing saying he can’t go play somewhere next year if teams still find him valuable

  22. patrickthunnus

He signed a fat $73m contract that he couldn’t live up to. Problem?
