The New Orleans Pelicans are doing something special when you looked at pelicans rosters over the years ever since they acquired Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram it seemed like almost each and every season they had a lot of talent and they had the potential to be very successful but they were never

Really able to do so in the end and partially due to that going into this season for the Pelicans the expectations weren’t all that high but what we’ve been seeing early on in the Pelicans season so far has been special and I’m here to tell you that it’s not a fluke I

Button and that post notification Bell I also want to quickly mention that I recently started up an MMA Channel and if you guys are interested in that the link will be in the description but anyways let’s get into It ever since acquiring both Z Williamson and Brandon Ingram the New Orleans Pelicans were seen as one of those organizations that had an extremely bright future at the time not only did they have those two guys but they also had other players like Lonzo ball Josh Hart and some others as well but

Although they had a ton of Talent on the roster at the end of the day they never were truly able to live up to expectations of course they had some Seasons where they played well during the regular season they definitely had some playoff experience but that specific roster that the Pelicans had

Never truly lived up to the expectations that a lot of people including myself thought they could eventually live up to and due to that the Pelicans decided it was time to move on from some of their guys and make some improvements as they moved on from both Lono ball and Josh

Hart and at the time a lot of people thought that was the wrong move they thought it didn’t necessarily make all that much sense to move on from the young players they had who were both definitely showing promise and of course had a lot of time to improve their games

But when you look at where the Pelicans are at this point roster wise and just the way they’re playing I think it’s pretty clear that the Pelicans made the exact right decision and I feel like starting this season the Pelicans are finally starting to build something special in New Orleans but a question

That some of you may be wondering at this point is why why do I feel that way well in my opinion I feel that way for a couple different reasons but the first reason has to be the overall talent that the Pelicans have on the roster because

When you look at the top three guys on this roster talking about Zan Williamson Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum all three of those guys do a phenomenal job at scoring for themselves particularly CJ McCollum and Brandon Ingram do a great job at isolating for themselves and getting open looks from that mid-range

Area or even from that three-point range and of course Zion Williamson also does a great job at creating his own shot by driving all the way to the basket and in my opinion when you have three different guys that can all score for themselves at very efficient and very high levels I

Just think that’s something that’s extremely important to a roster and it’s something that’s extremely important especially once it comes down to the playoffs because in playoff time there’s going to be certain stretches and certain possessions where it’s very difficult to score the basketball but if you have three guys that are extremely

Talented scorers and have the capability to get Buckets for you on any given possession that’s something that’s extremely important and I definitely think that’s going to play a huge factor in the playoffs for the Pelicans but even besides those three main guys the Pelicans have done a really nice job at

Building around those players as well you talk about a guy in yonas valan chunes who does a great job at rebounding offensively and defensively does a great job at setting screens getting guys over open does a nice job at posting up and creating his own shot

At times as well you talk about Jose Alvarado which is a guy who doesn’t necessarily put up the best statistics but he does a great job out there on the court whether you talk about defensively getting steals whether you talk about offensively creating shots for other guys and even scoring for himself at

Times he’s just one of those glue guys out there that doesn’t put up the best numbers but has a huge effect on the game and even besides those players they have a bunch of other guys in the roster that have done a really nice job at stepping up and compliment menting their

Main three guys of Zion Williamson Brandon Ingram and CJ McCullum extremely well so I definitely think the overall roster that the Pelicans have put forward this season is a huge reason for why I think they’re starting to build something special and is a huge reason

For why I think we’re seeing a lot of success from them now the next factor I want to touch upon is the coaching because when you talk about an NBA roster even if you have a lot of Talent on it if you don’t have good chemistry

On your team and you don’t have good coaching it’s going to be very difficult to win games during the regular season but it’s especially going to be very difficult to win games in the playoffs but when you watch Pelicans games out there they do have a lot of Talent on

The roster but they also utilize it very effectively offensively they do a great job at running pick and rolls running their offense getting Guys open looks and easy looks and defensively they also do a great job at guarding their own man double teaming at times if they get beat

They do a great job at rotating and overall it just seems like both offensively and defensively the Pelicans are a very well coached team and when you talk about a roster that’s very well coached coach does everything they need to do both offensively and defensively they play hard on both ends and they

Also have a ton of Talent on the roster that’s one of those teams that are just going to be extremely difficult to beat of course during the regular season but also especially once it comes down to playoff time and I definitely do think the overall coaching and the overall

Chemistry is a huge reason for why the Pelicans are playing so well so far this season and it’s a huge reason for why I think this is going to be sustainable and something that’s going to continue for the Long Haul now the next factor I want to touch upon for why the Pelicans

Are playing so well this season is due to the health of Zion Williamson now ever since Zion came into the NBA his health was always a question and so far throughout his relatively young NBA career there has been a couple of Seasons where he’s been sitting out a

Significant amount of time but when you look at what he was able to do this year so far at least he has been able to stay relatively healthy and when Zion is healthy out there and he’s playing most of your games he’s going to give you a

Real jump because obviously in the games that he does play he’s going to help you win a lot of games the you probably would have otherwise lost if he wasn’t playing he’s just that special but also if he stays healthy and once he plays more games with these guys he’s going to

Start to build a really nice chemistry with all the other players on the roster and once it comes down to playoff time they’re going to feel a lot more comfortable out there together as opposed to if Zion didn’t play all that much and was injured a significant

Amount so I definitely think the fact that Zion has been relatively healthy so far this season is also a huge reason for why the Pelicans are playing some of their best basketball now another question that some of you may be wondering at this point is what are my

Expectations for the Pelicans team this season well in my opinion I actually do have pretty high expectations I think the Pelicans throughout the rest of the season are only going to make improvements not only for some of their players individually but also as a unit overall and once it comes down to

Playoff time I think they’re going to be an even better team then than they are now and already at this point they’re playing some of their best basketball I’ve seen from that but my official expectations for the Pelicans this season would be to make it past the

First round and maybe even make it past the second second round I know those expectations are pretty high especially for a team that hasn’t had all that much playoff success in the past but I just think when you look at the roster at this point the three main guys they have

In CJ McCullum Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram alongside with some of the other factors that I mentioned in this video I do think at this point they are ready to have somewhat of a bigger jump during this season’s playoffs and if the Pelicans are able to make it past

The first and past the second round in the long-term future I only expect this team to get better with time because even though they did bring in some veteran guys like CJ McCullum yonis Valen chunes and some others at the end of the day the roster is still pretty

Young and a lot of the guys on the team you would fully expect to only get better with time so I definitely think we’re going to see some improvements from the Pelicans long term as well but I guess only time will tell what does end up happening for the New Orleans
