    – Siakam will have a lot of say on where he goes due to his expiring contract.

    – Raptors and Siakam are “nowhere close” on an extension.

    – Woj mentions the Pacers as a legitimate threat to sign Siakam to a max contract this offseason.

    – Toronto wants Bennedict Mathurin or Jarace Walker in a trade with Indiana, but they’re holding firm on neither one being included because of their upcoming cap space flexibility.

    – Warriors are interested in Siakam, but it’s a “difficult pathway” to make it happen due to their long-term payroll ramifications.

Basically we need to find a 3rd team that will take Wiggins because the Warriors are most likely to pull the trigger if they can move Wiggins and keep CP3.

Also I hate that Masai loves Kuminga because he’s a guy looking for a high usage role and I doubt he comes to a young team like ours and accepts a bench role like he had with the Warriors. I hope it’s posturing so we take Moody, Podz and 1 of the 2 picks they can trade

  3. SideEffects96

Fans were praising the FO way too early for the OG trade when Siakam is still on the roster. THIS is why you don’t wait till the last year. All the teams don’t wanna give up legit assets.

  4. dutchfromsubway

Are they no where close because siakam doesn’t want to resign or masai doesn’t want to give him the money he wants. I’m assuming siakam wants the max and masai is like nah, if that’s the case you gotta give him the money man

  5. supernaturalfor

I don’t get why they’re far away from a contract ext…it’s either you sign at the max or don’t …I’m assuming it’s the years that would be the issue. I’d rather sign him and trade him later on if we keep getting trash offers

  6. SpicyP43905

Kendrick Perkin’s bald ass head rlly threw me off there.

  7. jjkiller26

Yea i’ve come to accept an extension just isnt happening so he’s gotta get dealt one way or another. Even if the packages are gonna be underwhelming it has to be done at this point

  8. ZoroChopper10

THEY DONT WANT TO GIVE SIAKAM THE MAX

They didn’t want to before season they don’t want too when team is 15-23

I don’t understand why people think he’s not getting traded

  9. godofhammers3000

I don’t know why fans keep getting pressed over an extension. Logically there’s no reason for Siakam to have extended last year or this year when he could be eligible for a 5 year super max at the end of this one

  10. WorldTwisting

So imo the whole stuff today is because :

    a) Pascal’s camp isn’t happy with the contract extension offers (Haynes is a mouthpiece for players)

    b) Masai or the Pacers arent’ happy with the offers in a trade

I don’t know why an extension doesn’t seem likely though it might be their best option.

  11. wallz_11

Ppl gotta remember woj isnt plugged in with the raps compared to other teams.

He literally said they werent close to making a decision on OG the day befote the trade. I was downvoted for saying it was pure speculation

  12. AlexRescueDotCom

    Option 3.

We keep Pascal Shakeem. We go into the finals. He realizes that he has it good here. He signs a 35m/yr contract because he believes in this team. We sign up Bronny, LeBron James comes here for one last dance. Carmelo makes a come back. Lowry signs for a 10 day contract. Kevin Durant says he loves Toronto and drake and also comes here. Our starting lineup is LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Scottie Barnes, Pascal Shakeem, and Carmelo.

  13. n3moh0es

man i can’t take the speculation much longer. need this over with ASAP

  14. darthrevan22

“Raptors and Siakam are ‘nowhere close’ on an extension.

This is absolutely absurd that it’s even at this stage. Incredibly frustrating and disheartening to hear stuff like this about the front office.

  15. CanadianGroose

It feels like more and more that they are going to let Pascal walk in FA just like Fred did. Pascal will go to GS or Indy and get a 4 year/160M deal.

We will be left with nobody, but at least Quick, Scottie, and RJ will have free reign to hoop. Maybe sign a better bench guy like Kelly Oubre or Obi Toppin if they stay FAs. But we all know how bad Toronto is with FA. Weirdly, the emergency signing of Dennis has easily been the best FA signing ever.

Are there any other FAs we can sign next year if Pascal does walk?

  16. Beneficial-Luck-5078

Masai will call Pacer’s bluff with one call “ He’s going to GSW, Good luck signing him as FA I just fleeced em they’ll look stupid over there if they don’t give him the max after this fleece”

  17. ttttyttt678

Pacers good team Vs contending Sixers with a head coach that has won a championship with pascal as the second option and the reigning MVP who’s from the same country as pascal and friends with him. Hmmmmm wonder where he goes pacers…..

  18. Michalo88

Love Pascal. It’s been incredible to watch him develop over the past 7-8 or so years. Wish him the best for wherever he ends up, even if it’s not with the Raps.

  19. awwwyeahaquaman

Of course, who wouldn’t want to come to sunny Indianapolis for less money than the Raptors could offer him anyways?

  20. DannyzPlay

Honestly I was team trade in regards to siakam, before the OG trade but now, I’m not so sure, I’ve really enjoyed watching our line Spicy BBQ lineup and believe that given some time to jive together and work on chemistry, they’ll be a force to reckon with in the league. Pascal could be the start vet leader for the younger guys.

Ahh well, it will be sad for sure and if he’s traded I hope we get some really solid pieces and I hope he achieves success where he lands

  21. SadInternal9977

Either less money or less years than Pascal wants. He outplayed his rookie contract and got the big rookie extension as a reward that he is on now. while Pascal is a great player I suspect the sticking point is he hasnt been a great leader (selfishness of others on his watch) and hasn’t shown he can either carry the team in his back (say make a feee throw to win a play in game) or make everyone else around him better like Lowry did which are things FO probably expects for a max salary. Fred got big money but only 2 years…

  22. UnflushableStinky2

Pacers are a team that screams REGULAR SEASON. They will need to sacrifice a handful of guys to balance it out to be an actual threat in the playoffs.

  23. GuessableSevens

This is for sure just posturing.

The Pacers would have to let go of Bruce Brown, Buddy Hield, TJ McConnell, and Obi Toppin to have enough space to offer Siakam a max.

They would also need to commit to this plan before free agency because McConnell $9M guarantees the day after the draft.

That’s letting go of a starter and 3 rotation players to maybe have the chance to overpay Siakam at the back half of his prime. Seems dumb.

  24. Veracsflail1

“We’ll get him in Free agency” Should really only be said by no state income tax teams and the Cali teams and not Indiana

  25. sneechesgetleeches

Pascal knows that they can’t lose him for nothing, it’s the smart move forward but it really holds the franchise hostage.

The smartest move at this point would be to sign Pascal to a max and then deal him later, regardless with how you feel about the situation – it’s the most logical.

Issue is that other teams want Pascal as a secondary or third option but probably don’t want to take him on as a max player, dealing him as a max player will be tough and it will come down to the climate around the league to see who wants to pay that much.

  26. Full-Send_

He can do whatever he wants, and that’s cool with me; man has a super cool story and was part of the Championship (right before COVID, crazy shit)

  27. TheFWordNB

I think some people forget that the 5th year of bird rights doesn’t have to be escalating max salary years. The 5th year can be given out as a player option for $20 million for example. Plenty of ways to give value on year 5 that seperates you from the competition 4 yr 184).

E.g. Better from a cap perspective for a team to offer 5 yrs at $40 for $200 (no salary increases) plus easier to trade (if team wants or Pascal forces way out) on a flat contract.

Bird rights doesn’t force you to max out all 5 years but at a certain point a 4 year max may be more enticing to PS than 5 year max in Detroit for example.

If I was Indiana I would trade for the bird rights.

  28. Kevita24

Pacers are posturing, let them…someone else can come with a better deal or we keep him and attempt to give him the max

People say “the relationship is ruined” but Siakam wants that Max and we can pay him more than anyone else…id rather keep him and risk him walking than give him away for a handful of shit players that we don’t need…sometimes you have to gamble in these situations because once you crack, teams know that they can get you to give in to their demand in future trade situations…it’s all big game and I don’t see Masai budging on what he wants

We should have traded him last season, Masai and Bobby f#$ked up BUT they didn’t, so now we have to play hardball and gamble a bit…they don’t have much of a choice at this point, it’s either trade him for next to nothing, hold out and get what they want, or attempt to re-sign him to a max as a last resort

If he walk he walks at this point…it would be shit! don’t get me wrong and it could mean Masai and Bobby losing their jobs but they can’t allow other teams to take advantage of them because that could be just as bad as letting him walk

  29. Can someone explain to me why Jarace Walker would be off the table? I don’t watch much of the Pacers and it seems like he’s on G league assignment just based on his lack of NBA appearances.

  30. zomgpie40

Pascal learned from lowry. This front office never makes it easy to get what you want.

  31. Why we’d let this man walk- I have no idea. We will be such a worse team without Spicy P. Love the guy.
