That game alone took our point diff from -3.8 to -2.3 lol.

  2. Anyone interested in starting a GoFundMe for $25,000. Maybe that way we can get 37 FTA’s per game too.

Taking care of business against mediocre teams!

First half was a defensive masterclass, second half was an offensive masterclass

The Jazz are just playing immaculate basketball right now. Everyone is playing their role perfectly.

This is a team that is a playoff team, and all it took was benching THT

    GAME NOTES:

Wowee Zowee if you take away the unreal 3pt shooting by the Raptors (plus their season high 20 FTA in the first half) we absolutely dominate this game.

We are playing some of the most fun & contagious team basketball I’ve seen the Jazz play, rivaled only by Don’s 1 & 2 year with Ricky Rubio. Everybody is getting involved, everybody is scoring, everybody is passing efficiently.

Starting with Lauri Markkanen, a very, very efficient ballgame. 7-11 shooting, 4-6 from 3, 4-5 from the line, 22 points, 9 rebounds (3 offensive) 2 assists, 1 steal, and a team high +19 in 29 minutes. He hit a mean stepback 3 on Barnes in the first quarter, and kept it going. You kinda forget how athletic he can be, but he reminded everybody when he threw down that lob off of Keyonte in the third. He is absolutely thriving in this team unit.

Jordan Clarkson dropped 21 points on 8-16 shooting, 5-9 from 3, 1 rebound, 5 assists, and 0 turnovers! Ever since he has come off of the bench he has been one of the best versions of himself. The lack of turnovers is such an improvement, and his scoring is infectious.

Collin Sexton with an equally impressive night, 20 points on 5-10 shooting, 3-3 from 3, and 7-8 from the line. 2 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, 2 turnovers in just 20 minutes. Our offense was free-flowing all night, and he really impacted the game with his defensive intensity, and his ability to drive the ball into the paint and hit an improbable layup.

Walker Kessler had 20 minutes tonight, and put up 12 on 5-5 shooting, 2-4 from the line, 6 rebounds, and 3 blocks. His only downside was 4 fouls, but two of them were questionable. I always want more Kessler, I think he is the anchor that drives our defense, but recently we haven’t needed him as much. When he is in, he is a force to be reckoned with.

Fontecchio also hit double figures with 13 points on 5-9 shooting, and 3-5 from 3. He is getting back into a rhythm, which is great. He played pretty good on-ball defense on Barnes, and whenever his shot is falling he plays with a lot of confidence.

Kris Dunn is our perimeter anchor. I don’t care if he doesn’t shoot once all game, his defense and passing makes up for it. 6 points tonight on 3-4 shooting, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, 2 blocks, 2 turnovers in 17 minutes. For being one of the smallest guys on the court, he makes an impact up and down the floor on both ends. He’s kinda in the minutes limbo that Kessler is in, but whenever Dunn comes in our defense sharpens up.

Agbaji had a hot first half, but quickly cooled off offensively. 3-8 shooting, 2-7 from 3 (including two bad misses in the corner), but 8 total points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 blocks, including one massive swat at the rim. It feels like every game he has an insane block, which is so fun to watch. I just wish he is able to get more consistent offensively, but I love that he was willing to shoot 8 times. Great defense as always tonight

Keyonte struggled with his shot, 3-10, 0-5 from 3 for 9 points, 3 rebounds, and 6 assists. 3 turnovers isn’t too bad, but I’d love to see that cleaned up a bit, but man his passes were so pretty. He was navigating the pick n roll with Kessler perfectly, and had a great give n go slam off of a Kessler pass too. He was the one that threw that alley-oop to Lauri that was electric. I’m glad his passing has come back, but I genuinely feel like it’s been 1 or 2 games this season where his shot & passing has been on. I just want to see more consistency out of his game, but man his passing was so so pretty tonight.

Kelly Olynyk played a masterclass of a game. 11 points, 4-7 shooting, 1-2 from 3, 2-4 from FT, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, 1 turnover in 21 minutes. His slow-mo craftiness in the paint reminds me of how Joe Ingles (rip) used to play, and his skillset is so vital to our team success. I know he’s been thrown around in trade rumors, but I really feel like he is one of the key pieces to our team. The playmaking and gravity he demands allows for everybody else to have the space to orchestrate, and our team knows that Kelly will find them if they cut in or get open.

John Collins played 14 minutes tonight due to foul trouble, scoring 4 points on 2-3 shooting, 4 fouls, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 turnover. Nothing really stood out about his play, but I do like his rebounding. It feels like it’s been a while since we’ve seen him be that monster on the boards that he was early in the season.

Taylor Hendricks & Brice Sensabaugh played in garbage time, and both of them scored! Sensabaugh hit a layup & a 3 for 5 points, and Hendricks only shot once from 3 and finished with 3 points. Brice came out looking to shoot & score haha.

I can’t overstate how awesome of a team win that was. Everybody who played scored at least 4 points, and we had 6 in double figures. We put up 34 assists on 52 FGM, had 7 steals, 13 turnovers, and shot 56/49/77 for the game. Absolute domination. The thing that really surprised me was our interior defense. We held the Raptors to just 5-23 from inside the arc in the first half, and held them to just 18-47 from inside the arc all game. They cooked from 3, and had 11 more FTA than us, but even in the first quarter where we won by 3, we were clearly dominating the game. Hardy’s zone defense has come around to be legit, and our players know their assignments and their roles perfectly. It feels like there are minimal defensive mistakes.

Our bench unit is playing sound basketball too. They outscored Toronto’s bench 80-48. We are an insanely deep team, and I don’t know how long this is going to last but holy hell it is so much fun to watch. This is must see TV. I really think I’ve seen the Jazz be this willing to share the ball, this strong on defense, and this deep rotation-wise 1 other time in my life, and it was the 2018 days.

.500 basketball BABY! AND FREE CHICKEN HELL YEAH

20-20 WE ARE BACK PLAY-IN HERE WE COME YEEHAW

Popping in as a Clippers fan to say y’all are playing special ball rn. As a neutral viewer, I was somewhat surprised that y’all were having such a bad stretch because I was high on Sexton for a while and Lauri has become stuff. But this recent stretch is not normal or easy to pass of. There are franchise-altering developments that could be happening at this current point and time. Collin Sexton conversations are about to get loud if this keeps up for y’all. Really, REALLY loud. And I don’t mean in a trade way. I mean in a “wait a minute…are we sure that Lauri is the only clear cut blue chip young guy on this team” type of way.

  9. Damn, Detroit almost beat the Rockets tonight.

  10. jtmackay

Jazz are confident, trust each other and the system now. We are sooooo back!

  11. LevelMeaning8260

We just have so much more depth than other teams at the moment. 10 legitimate NBA players make up our rotation. The team looks like they genuinely enjoy playing together as well, fun times

  12. JazzYotesRSL

Held Toronto to 38% from 2. 80-48 bench scoring advantage. 58-32 advantage on points in the paint. 56-31 rebounding advantage. Brice Sensabaugh with the first 2 buckets of his NBA career. Held RJ Barrett to 4 points on 2-9 shooting.

Easily our best game since Wednesday.

I’m so happy, one of my coworkers went tonight for his very first NBA game. Couldn’t have asked for a better first game

This is a good, honest .500 basketball team.

We play .500 ball goddammit. Salt of the earth, punch the clock, even win/loss ratio
basketball. We lose a couple, guess what? We’ll win a couple, too. But
don’t get too excited or let it go to your head. No long winning streaks
here, no sir. That’s hubris, which this blue collar, hard working
everyman team doesn’t have. A few wins in a row, these guys, true to
form, will balance it out with a couple a losses. Yes sir, that’s my
2024 Jazz. A good, honest .500 basketball team.
