  1. Tonights loss felt like earlier in the season where we always managed to scrap and hustle our way into being competitive throughout the whole game.

Scoot wasn’t efficient tonight, but he was aggressive and he forced their defense to respect him. He also looked amazing as the floor general tonight. The ball never sticks with him too long and he is great at getting the ball into the post or the corners.

And I was once again impressed with Kris Murray tonight. He can shoot, handle, rebound, and defend. I think a lot of it stems from his basketball IQ. Dude just knows where the right place to be is. I think he has a future as a rotation player in the NBA.

    Scoot “bust” Henderson:
    33 Points
    9 Assists
    7 Rebounds

Just ran out of gas at the end couldn’t make open shots. Love this version and fight of the blazers than what we have looked like recently. I’ll take it. Hopefully we keep trending in the right direction.

Scoot had a triple double in my heart 🥽

Here are my thoughts from tonight:

    Positives:

    * Kris Murray looked really good. He competed defensively on the ball, is usually in the right place at the right time off the ball, and hit a couple shots. I really like what I see, and even though the stat sheet didn’t show it, I kinda like him as a connective passer as well.
    * Reath also looked pretty good offensively and made shots, and once again did his job in the short roll. Great bounce-back game by him after a bad game the other day in Minnesota. One of the underrated things I love about his game is how effectively he’s able to seal a mismatch in the post – even though he’s undersized, he’s very smart about angles and positioning to make sure the guard can throw him an entry pass once he gets a seal. It’s one of the things I really wish Ayton would do better tbh.
    * Scoot competed defensively and forced a few turnovers with his energy. He also had a pretty solid playmaking game, and was generally able to get to his spots on the court.
    * For a guy who fell in the draft because he couldn’t shoot very well, he’s been shooting the ball extremely well this year with the Remix. It’s super encouraging to see the shot falling in a real NBA game tonight.
    * Speaking of Remix, Minaya is surprisingly playable for a 17th man. I don’t think he’s a NBA rotation player necessarily, but I like his hustle and his ability to move his feet defensively and fight through screens.

    Negatives:

    * Scoot’s efficiency once again left a lot to be desired. I know he’s a rookie and he’s gonna struggle, but he’s been ice cold from the field the last few games, which isn’t great to see. The silver lining though is that he was able to get to his spots – he just has to put the ball in the hoop. I’m no shooting coach, but I don’t really like the footwork on his pullup midrange jumper when he’s not driving at a 90 degree angle to the basket – feel like he elevates too much without getting his feet set, drifts laterally and shoots on the way down. ‘
    * Ant definitely played better than his 0/10 game in Minnesota, but he missed several open shots he normally makes (and jacked up a couple questionable ones too). Hopefully he can go back to making those types of shots. I thought he had some pretty nice passes that we weren’t able to convert, though.
    * Camara as a screener – I’ve been wanting to see more of this, but last game he traveled as soon as he got the ball and today he caused a turnover by slipping his screen too far and overrunning the pocket pass. It’s super low volume though, and I do want to see more before making a conclusion about it.
    * I’ve probably been the number one critic of Chauncey and his defensive scheme, but I can’t say too much tonight about the reliance on zone or overaggressive defense that leaves shooters open – with all the injuries we were going to be obliterated if we played straight man defense the entire game, so it is what it is.

So awesome seeing Scoot develop. I’m sure the efficiency will come when he gets more reps and experience.

Trade JG and Brogdon please , so much more fun to watch without them.

  7. DinQuixote

Just what the fan base needed. A good, old-fashioned salt of the Earth eleven point loss.

  8. gabe420710

Saw scoot had 33, thought awesome!! 32 shots tho oof,

  9. kalebglover

Was always going to be a long shot to win this game with the personnel, but still a long list of positives to take away from this game

  10. alandwarinasia_

inshallah we never see jerami grant or malcolm brogdon in a blazers uniform ever again

  11. BunkHammer

Nice to see Kris and Rupert contribute and have solid games.

And of course Scoot. Big game from the kid!

I’m sure we’re about to see a couple roster changes soon

  12. TubbzMcGee

Rayan needs 20 minutes a game the rest of the year.

  13. Bieberkinz

Now this is the type of loss I’ve been missing, a competitive game up to the fourth, with players showing their potential. It was fun seeing Murray, Rupes, Scoot, all doing their thing.

  14. bassicallyinsane

I’m glad we returned to entertaining basketball

  15. KillingTime_ForNow

Scoot’s shooting efficiency is to the point of laughable honestly. But we knew he couldn’t shoot before he was drafted. Glad he can do other things well.

  16. After last game i saw several posts asking what fans were expecting out of this season and why we were so upset, calling everyone dramatic etc. THIS is what we were expecting from this season. High energy and hustle, getting to see our young guys flash greatness, and then fall on their ass and get back up again. We dont care about wins, just give us high effort basketball and lots of minutes for our young guys.

Trade the vets, embrace the youth movement, tonight is the shit we want to see.

  17. Krustykrab8

Scoot could have had about 17 assists tonight

  18. GaviFromThePod

Losing sucks, but our young players looked good. Scoot played his ass off on defense. Murray and Rupert contributed in a meaningful way.

  19. KillingTime_ForNow

Man Camara had his shot going for a 10ish game span earlier in the season. But holy hell he looks scared to shoot now with how off his shot has been lately. Hope that gets fixed.

  20. pam_beastly

This is all I expected/wanted to see this season. Hustle. Development from young guys. Competitive losses.

Low bar that we’ve been sooo far from hitting the past few games. Ready to sell high on all our vets at this point (assuming we can get equivalent of 1 frp or better for each).

  21. u/scalmaa You werent lying about Rupert, that boi looks legit.

  22. Sensitive-Sorbet917

Damn we really needed that hopeful game

  23. rocky0502

Scoot looked good if only he was more efficient from 2 and it would’ve been a monster game from him

  24. iverigma

Waiting for stats like how many games from teenagers with stats line of 33-7-9 + 4 stl + 4 threes

  25. shelvino

I really wonder if there is a science to balance out the perfect vets that can be on a rebuilding/tanking team? I mean we looked fine to begin the season but we were having other injuries too. But once we had Brog/Ant/Grant back, there was just zero chemistry with them playing with the young guys.

I understood the idea with having them to help us stay competitive in some games so the key young guys can play in some high stakes games. But I think it’s time to cash in on the vets and get some more draft capital and let the young guys go. It’s their time to run now. The weird part is that we wanted the vets to help us not be a historically bad roster full of young guys messing around. But I think Billups can actually help a group of kids play the right way, he just can’t implement vets at the same time. I really think it’s a Billups thing because there have been other vets that just struggled to look comfortable here. Roco/Nance/Powell all looked more lost here than they have anywhere else in my opinion.
