The Detroit Pistons Trade Away Marvin Bagley. This Is Hilarious.

[Applause] all right I’m going to try to spend just like five minutes talking about this Pistons Wizards deal because in the grand scheme of the NBA it’s not that big of a deal but I feel like in terms of the Pistons it is a big deal obviously because one this is hilar ious

Because they traded two second round picks to get Marvin Bagley a few seasons ago then they extend him and then he starts you know turning into a decent NBA player I actually thought baggley improved since he got to the Pistons and then this year you just fast forward to

This year he started getting healthy dmps James wisman for some reason is playing over him and then they trade him away to the Wizards along with Isaiah livers and two second round picks for danila galinari and Mike muscala so you traded two second round picks to get

Marvin baggley hoping you can turn a former lottery pick into an NBA player kind of do that then you basically have to attach two second round picks to trade away his contract and it just goes to show that the asset management by Troy Weaver and the Detroit Pistons front office

Has just been what’s a worse word than malpractice I really don’t know but look Danilo galinari and Mike muscala their expiring their stretch fours that can help out the spacing I guess with Kade Cunningham and jayen Ivy who Monty Williams apparently just realized that maybe jayen ivy should get the ball

Sometimes and you know run stuff on the ball which was a crazy quote by him but I guess it’s part of this Grand scheme to go with this cap space plan in the summer I guess the Pistons will be able to free up anywhere north of $63 million

In cap space which if you’re new to this Channel and you’re just seeing this video first of all like the video subscribe to the channel if you’re so inclined I have talked about the cap space plan in regards to the 76ers before multiple times this season and

Free agents just don’t move move like that in free agency anymore it’s either the player gets their extension and then if they’re not happy with the situation a year or two later they could request a trade it’s rare that big name free agents move like that anymore I guess

You can maybe throw a contract at Klay Thompson if the Warriors don’t give him the contract he’s looking for maybe Tobias Harris in the summer because he’s an expiring the headliners of the projected free AG agency class like oan noi I think he’s going to stay with the Knicks

Pascal seaka maybe but who wants to go to Detroit that’s the other thing this team stinks they’re young they’re poorly coached they’re poorly mismanaged by the front office and they stink so why is that an attractive place I guess because you can maybe finesse your way into a

Big bag like if Tobias Harris wanted to get one more contract before his career is over because he’s 30 one right now and he’s not going to be making $40 million a year ever again but if he goes to the Pistons he might be able to find

A way to make north of 35 million a year so maybe that’s the move here for the Pistons is to get bad contracts trade for bad contracts maybe at the trade deadline which I think is probably the better strategy if you are trying to utilize cap space I really don’t know

What the plan is in Detroit I know fans have been frust rated as hell with this front office and its plan moving forward I just don’t get this I thought the baggley contract was fine especially with the growing cap I mean $12 million a year that’s not bad but if you thought

The contract was bad and something you needed to move off of why did you give baggley that contract in the first place I don’t know maybe some Pistons fans can enlighten me but I actually thought baggley like I said especially when he first got there I think it was kade’s

Rookie year they instantly formed a connection in the lob game and I don’t know I thought baggley especially to start the year this season was decent as the backup center behind Jaylen durren but I guess the Pistons felt another way they felt like they needed to free up

Cap space so I don’t know what they’re going to do we’ll see I guess I imagine more dominoes might fall but if you’re a Pistons fan do you want Troy Weaver knocking down those dominoes I’m not so sure well actually I am sure the answer is no

This trade is funny for a number of reasons. Not only did the Pistons trade two second round picks to get Marvin Bagley in the building, they extend him immediately, then a year later attach TWO MORE second round picks to salary dump him to the Wizards. The Pistons have this grand cap space plan (which I have gone over before with the Sixers about why its most likely fools gold nowadays) but is that actually going to work? Will the Pistons make more moves at the deadline to use that cap space? So many questions. Most of which will not be answered by Troy Weaver and that front office.
