Dejounte Murray Would Welcome A Trade Back To The San Antonio Spurs
Y what’s going on guys and today we’re talking about the jonte Murray and it feels like oh we’ve talked about him so much so we got we have two videos to make here the first one we’re going to talk about is the San Antonio Spurs allegedly have something working in
Their favor supposedly Deonte Murray views Mr Greg papovich as a father the exact quote goes like this on the TNT broadcast just what was it I feel like it it was tonight I or yesterday this is just the the Tweet he said that he would welcome a trade back
To San Antonio cuz Greg papovich is like a father to dejonte Murray and this is via Paul Garcia and that right now I’m a hawk I’m going to stay professional play the right way which good M DTE Murray’s always done right on the court I think that he’s always been a professional
He’s never sold that I will say that’s something good I know can somebody okay if you’re a Spurs fan a lot of people told me on okay this is what but first off let me before we continue it’s very unlikely a Spurs trade happens a the
Spurs do not have the assets that the Hawks covet in as compensation for dejonte Murray nor are the Spurs willing to give back the picks that the Hawks traded to them so it’s unlikely but a lot of people said when we originally talked about a San Antonio Spurs trade
If it was going to be possible is people were like look it makes sense on paper but if you understand what happened there it doesn’t make sense for him to come back and correct me if I’m wrong the jonte Murray was kind of ran out of town due to the fact that he
Didn’t fit the culture necessarily the right way and I I like I like dejonte Murray and the thing is people have to understand dejonte Murray at this point in his career and he’s arguably the best player you could get right now in the on the market realistically because Pascal seams and
Expiring dejonte Murray in my opinion may I think he’s got more value than Zack line dear Rosen Pascal come on I think Deon is probably the most valuable player potentially on the Block and it’s clear that Atlanta wants to make some changes and moving Murray represents the most substantive one that they could
Make this season and the back court combination Trey young and dejonte Murray hasn’t really worked that well and the Hawks expected them to be a lot better than they were when they traded three first round picks and a pick swap to San Antonio for Murray Atlanta’s Hope
Was that pairing Trey young with a bigger more defensively conscious playmaking guard like dejonte Murray would allow Trey young to thrive on and off the ball more and it would stop the Hawks from hemorrhaging points when he off the floor Murray who was coming off a Allstar and arguably an all NBA season
Season was a bet they were wor willing to take and it’s became clear that the Hawks need to have Trey young with the ball in his hands as much as possible Murray’s become a good three-point shooter this year he’s hitting 30 39% on six attempts a game and he’s not as
Impactful off the ball as he is when he has the ball in his hand it kind of diminishes his overall impact additionally Murray’s strong defense has taken a dive since coming from San Antonio that all defensive level performance isn’t there anymore that could be because of his knee injury or
Because of the scheme he still gets steals occasionally but he isn’t as as as engaged off ball defensively as he was in years previous any team looking to acquire Murray is doing so in large part because he believes he plays on the defensive end as well as rebounds and
The scoring and playmaking while Murray signed a fouryear $114 million extension this summer with a player option in 2027 he’s locked in for long term and if he gets back to his prior defensive Heights upon leaving the situation Atlanta his average annual value of $28 million is
Quite reasonable price tag for a player of his talent so all come down to the team that gets him what do they want him to be and are they going to be upset if he isn’t what they think or if he isn’t what they he he he want was cuz you’re
Also betting that maybe he’ll return to what he used to be it’s been over a year since they traded him so that he and he’s now trade eligible after signing that 4-year extension and the Hawks are supposedly going to be taking exploratory C talks they’re ramping up
He is more than likely to be traded by the deadline he is a clutch Sports client so the Lakers are the favorites and a deal to the Lakers would probably be RI haimura package with Jaylen Hood shiino Andor Max Christi and a pick while the San Antonio Spurs are a team
That they’re taking a slow approach to their building but they’re very much interested in dejonte Murray being the perfect pairing to Victor wanyama so with that being said the reason for that is obviously deont Murray isn’t the same player he used to be in terms of the the
Athleticism the and the point of a attack like Defender that he is but with that being said he’s still a great defender he’s still a great pick and roll ball handler and a team like the San Antonio Spurs who have Victor rinama I think you’re you’re looking at the the possib
Ability of you know this is a guy who the last three seasons has averaged 21 points a game 6 and a half rebounds seven assists and almost two steals while shooting 38.8% from three this season yeah he’s no longer the the best point of attack defender in the league
Before the ACL tear but he’s still very good at that a very capable pick and roll batt Handler and like for me when I look at Deonte Murray especially where you look at his stats this season he’s averaging 20 points a game okay and almost 21 shooting 38% from 3 47% from
The the field five assists and five rebounds and look at the spur stat where he’s basically missed a triple double and for me I’ve always been he’s only 27 years old he he’s a guy who’s a defensive pass first guy who can score okay he’s got the lateral quickness to
Literally guard anyone great rebounders I’m a better three-point shooter so for me it makes so much sense if you’re the Spurs to go out and get yourself a guy like dejonte Murray now what would a dejonte Murray trade even look like if you are the
You know what what am I accepting if I’m the Hawks if you’re the Spurs are calling me back up well the Hawks are cheap the Hawks like to save money so you would offer the Hawks an opportunity to save money the Hawks would be losing
A point guard so you’re going to have to offer them a point guard back that’s just going to have the how it’s going to go the is only making 18 and a deal would Devonte Graham be in this deal that’s where I get it gets a little difficult to think maybe maybe I
And I think the big thing that’s going to entice the Hawks is the picks it’s going to be the picks that’s going to get the Hawks interested in making a deal with the the Spurs so let’s say the Spurs if the Spurs want to trade they’ll the
Spurs will give back the Hawks their their first round picks okay and then give them two seconds I’d say and then the Hawks will and then they’ll give them Devonte Graham with o what if they packaged Blake Wesley and this is where it gets hard maybe jedy Osman would that deal even
Work that deal works and everybody wins in this deal I think this is a legit deal dejonte Murray for the two Hawks first round picks and then two second round picks Devonte Graham Jetty Osman and Blake Wesley it’s on the screen right now would you guys do this deal or
Is this just no okay so I think hey this is not that fake of a deal this is a good deal and fans spos is over here saying that the Hawks would get better defensively actually from this deal and the jont Murray would make the Spurs
Better I mean nobody wins I think this is a really good deal Hawks get two guys under contract they get a backup point guard and Devonte Graham and they get you know a high a guy with potential on Blake Wesley jedy Osman is expiring

Murray was NOT run out of town. He was a stud on a directionless team. In my opinion, the Spurs tried to do right by Murray and send him to a "better situation" in Atlanta. It wasn't until AFTER the trade, words and feelings were said and blown out of proportion. But I question if Murray's character shown post trade is the right kind of attitude I want around my 20 year old generational player
Let DJ go to the Fakers, he would fit in nicely there.
Dejounte was not run out of town. If the Spurs extended him which Dejounte said he would not sign, the Spurs could only offer a 15% increase.
The Spurs would then risk losing Dejounte on the open mkt to the highest bidder and him being a Klutch cli would prolly see him go for nothing. So, the Spurs advised him they would try and move him to a desirable destination.
Dejounte at the time of his draft was promised by six teams they would take him if they had the opportunity. They all passed when a story was put out ahead of the draft abt being linked to gangs when he was young. DJ was arrested when he was 11.
The spurs not only took him and developed him, but when he tore his achiles they signed him to a 4yr $64 mil (a lot of money back then) while he was on his rookie contract.
When DJ leaves the Spurs he starts talking smack against thr team with fans. Then six months later appeayon All the Smoke podcast how the Spurs did mind games to him. Huh???
Now, you know why many fans including myself dont want him back. I was a HUGE Dj fan. Not anymore.
Pfff please no Spurs.
I prefer Trae Young who obviously showing interest in playing with Wemby.
