I find this hilarious how Obi is once again behind an All Star PF

No animosity but it’s ironic and telling

Does anyone who has followed Indiana know if Jarrace Walker will be the backup 4 or Obi?

I’m actually a bit sad for Obi didn’t end up in the trade. Reuniting him with Quickley would’ve felt karmically correct and he’d probably have a bigger role with Siakam gone.

Obi is shooting 40% from 3 and 57% from the field. Still plays no defense but he got what he was looking for. A chance to start and now he realizes he’s probably nothing more than an energy guy off the bench. With the Knicks, he would have never got a chance to start

He didn’t do anything malicious while he was with the Knicks, IDK why people are happy to see him fail. And it’s not like he was like Frank where he sucked, he had a lot of good games and highlight reel moments.

Obi toppin is not good enough to start in the nba

3 firsts for a guy who might walk in the summer sure seems an overpay to me, but what do I know. Also I’m surprised they didn’t send Hield to the Raps instead of Brown, Hield’s been in trade talks for years and Brown just got there.

PS we are still better than them

Didn’t he already lose the starting job in Indiana?

I think most Knicks fans want the best for him, but there is some validation for Thibs here. We love our drafted/homegrown guys, and often are biased when looking at them. Toppin is never going to be a strong part of a contending team. He will have a nice career, but he cant create on his own and can’t stop anyone. And now he has been behind a all-star in Randle and a no one in Indiana, and we are seeing the same thing and two respected coaches are not able to get more from him. He may even be the odd man out on a team that likes to play 3 guards.

I wanted Obi to go to the Raptors so maybe the fans still crying about the OG trade could find it more enticing to just become Raps fans and join their sub.

Nah but on some real shit, even tho I knew he wasn’t going to turn into that 25ppg all star that ppl here thought he’d be, I still wanted him to become a starter a cement a rol at that.

Dude is a great guy, not good enough to be a starting PF in the NBA. Given he turns 26 in a few months, that’s his ceiling: okay nba backup, never good enough to start on anything beyond a rebuilding losing roster

Obi back where it started. The bench.

  12. Iamamyrmidon

He stepped out of bounds with Thibs and wanted out, now he’s out.

I thought woj tweeted what you just said and I was like holy fuck this man went gloves off

  14. Aaaaaaandyy

He’s been on the bench for a while anyway

Im still somewhat annoyed that we drafted him over Haliburton.

  16. As a RFA, what does that mean for next year? If no one else offers him a deal, Indiana can also not offer him, right, so he’s be be a FA?

Yeah the fo drafting him will always be a mistake. You can agree with the reasoning or not, I think Randle taking the next step caused them to pivot their plans. Anyway, I’m just glad they sold him before his value was completely gone. Lol to the people who said we made a massive mistake in not playing and trading him. Another playoff level team does not see him as a starter either

  18. It was clear he was a 10-15 minute bench guy. Some people here just overrated him like they do with every player drafted by the team
