Pascal Siakam TRADED to the Indiana Pacers | JJ Redick Full Reaction 🚨

Pascal Siakam TRADED to the Indiana Pacers | JJ Redick Full Reaction 🚨

The indana Pacers traded for Pascal cakam from the Toronto Raptors uh Bruce Brown three first round picks two this year um my understanding is it’s the Pacers own pick and then the worst of I think OKC Houston and the Jazz whichever pick is worst and their 2026 their own

Pick as well um Jordan Noir in that deal as well New Orleans got involved to skate the luxury tax sending K Kyrie Lewis and couple second round picks to Toronto um Tommy I I have a lot of thoughts and all very positive first of all if I quickly on the Raptors

Um this felt like a long time coming and the reports were that se yakum actually wanted to stay in Toronto and and and make this a long-term thing and help with whatever sort of rebuild rejiggering of the roster was going on uh them losing Fred Van Fleet

Last year in free agency I think had a a real impact uh on both the SE yakum trade and the OG and anobi trade because they lost Fred for nothing yeah and we’ve seen Fred and his impact on winning in Houston um so I I I think

Toronto made the the right decision this was a team that was going to be stuck in the middle and you get the picks they’ve got young guys now in in RJ Barrett and Emanuel quickley Scotty Barnes of course um that you can sort of build and look

For the future I I I I think about it this way with se yakum he clearly makes the Indiana Pacers better but I also think the Indiana Pacers are going to make him better and that’s talking about someone that has made two All-Star games two all NBA

Teams uh made an All-Star game last year having another All-Star esque season this year there was one particular point about his offensive game and I think we can get into everything that I wanted to to sort of bring up and ask you about first he’s shooting uh 50.9% from three

In his last 20 games shooting uh 49% on Corner threes with the way they play we’ve talked a lot about the record setting Pace that offense has been on with Tyrese you know obviously when he’s healthy in there from a shooting standpoint because zakum start of the

Year not shooting very well from a shooting standpoint do you think that this is going to open that up for him and should we look to expect those numbers to continue maybe not that high but some somewhere in that range of a 45 Plus I I always say shooting but gets

Shooting and so when you have spacing and when you have multiple guys on the court that are at least threats from three I think that allows for easier opportunities for everyone to shoot the basketball uh Indiana Pacers right now sixth in made threes 10th in three-point attempts seventh in three-point

Percentage clearly one of the best shooting teams in the NBA so sakam is going to have space and he’s going to have space to dve Drive he’s going to have space to cut he’s been an excellent cutter all year uh here’s the thing this is the really interesting thing shout

Out to Matthew Williams who just sent this over to me about five minutes ago uh the Raptors were first are first in the NBA right now in Fast Break points the Raptors are guess who’s second IND Indiana Pacers second in the IND the Raptors feel does the Raptor feel more

Surprising then IND being there does make seak sakam leads the NBA in field goal percentage in transition Tyrese halberton leads the NBA in assists in transition you talk about the spacing the Pacers right now everybody thinks of them as oh we’re going to play at a fast

Pace and shoot threes they lead the NBA in paint points they lead the NBA in most made layups and dunks and Pascal cakam right now is on Pace to set his career high for most layups and dunks made per game this is to me a perfect fit offensively this is the number one

Team the team with the greatest offensive efficiency so far in NBA history and to me they’re adding a guy that fits perfectly isn’t it weird for a guy that’s made multiple NBA teams that you’re like he could actually get better yeah and he’s still he’s turning 30 in

April he’s still in the prime of his career uh you know there there was that ringer article from earlier in the season about Tyrese halberton and him wanting to just build and recruit and make the Indiana Pacers a Destin because of him because of him so I like

This move for Indie even though seak of course there’s noces he will resign they gave up a lot of future draft capital for this but if it goes well and halberton can convince this guy that yeah this is a perfect fit for you which

I think it should be then I I I would love to see this be a long-term thing for the Indian Pacers with with the Pacers defensively you know it’s been a obviously not a it’s been a weakness I would say over the you know course of the year but they’ve been 16th in

Defensive efficiency over the last couple weeks uh they’re 23 and 17 now they’re three and a half games out of the three seed you’ve watched almost all of their games the last couple weeks have you seen an improvement there or do this feel like uh a little bit of a

Flash in the pan and where do you think he’s going to help them defensively I think they have improved to me they have shown flashes uh of sustained defensive effort I think that’s the biggest thing for me is like Personnel wise you know Tyrese Is Not Great buddy healed Is Not Great

Uh TJ McConnell as hard as he plays and as much as he fights a lot of times he has a size disadvantage uh Turner of course is is going to protect the rim but in space and then getting into rotations they haven’t been great yeah

And and so what I’ve seen is a sustained level of effort from them I think SE yakum helps on the Personnel standpoint just because of his length and his size um does this make them a contender in the East I guess that’s the question I don’t think I’m there yet this was a

Very fun basketball team that just got more fun for sure if they weren’t in your top five in league pass before this trade they’re certainly going to be after I was G ask you you’ve played against him you play against him for years play against him in the playoffs

You know we’ve had him on the show I think that everyone who sort of knows bball knows how good he is and has been and everything like that but he hasn’t necessarily gotten as much love as didn’t when Kawai was there like he’s been a guy that has flown under the

Radar even making those all NBA teams I’m like like what do you just from a pure entertainment standpoint because he can do a lot of different things I think besides him just playing with Tyrese is there anything else you’re like oh this could unlock being in an offense like this cuz

Those Toronto offenses were never no one’s been like Pacers are but they’ve never been an offense that has been like consistently a top two top three offense in the league um I I think this I go back to the spacing of course you know they’re a team that plays fast uh I

Think it fits his desire you know he’s going to ISO I I like him when he’s making quick decisions he clearly can pass the ball you think about the lack of shooting on the floor at times with him with the Raptors they’re 26 and three-pointers made in third and three

Point percentage and yet he was still having a career high in layups and dunks yeah so like he’s going to have more space to operate um you know I I I had somebody I guys I gotta be honest with you I I gota be honest with you I don’t

Ever know what Jason and Richie and Nicole are going to post on social media I literally don’t know like Jason even asked me today he’s like what do you want for the teaser for the frons video and I’m like dude it’s your job you do

It as as well as anyone in this industry I don’t care don’t get fired just don’t get fired all it is is don’t put something in that’s going to get you fired but the other day I I didn’t know this was going to be a thing but the

Other day like they posted my rant with Steph nayas about like the non-traditional point guard and someone brought up Tyrese halberton as like being a traditional point guard I’m like I don’t see that I we if we if you think tyres halberton is a traditional point

Guard then we need to Define what a traditional point guard is is it someone who gets assists because I gotta be honest with you a lot of guys get assists that aren’t point guards Nicole yic gets assists and he’s not a point guard Trey young is not a traditional

Point guard and he gets a lot of assists assists are not the the marker of a traditional point guard I just want to say that one thing about Tyrese that I [ __ ] love is the way he just gets off the ball that’s not a traditional point guard yeah that’s orchestrating every

Single [ __ ] Play Tyrese halberton is going to get an outlet pass and he’s going to look up the floor and if you’re open he’s going to kick it ahead and he doesn’t worry about getting it back and then manipulating things in the half court he just plays right he’s going to

Feed cakam in transition after M Misses after makes this is how the Pacers play all of a sudden siakam’s got aead of steam was shooting around him come on man this he’s going to be really really good for Indiana do you think the the you you mentioned the OG trade as well

The time in of this I mean obviously we’re not in these in these rooms we don’t know for sure on anything but the the the OG trade happening on December 30th or December 29th or whatever it is this trade happening now is this more of a case of Toronto being like we’re going

To make sure that we get this right before bringing up to the deadline or a team like Indie being like we actually think we can make a run at this let’s see if we can let’s see if we can line this up now I know teres isn’t back yet

But by the time he gets back you know Pasco had a couple weeks of sort of acclimating to the new system and everything like that and and really setting themselves up for like what could be a sustained playoff push on the Pacers point every team is always trying

To get better every team that’s in the win now mode I should say is always trying to get better like so the Boston Celtics right now Brad Stevens is trying to figure out how to add a rotation piece for the playoffs like they’ve got the trade except like every team that is

In when now mode is looking to add there’s not a GM out there that is like I’m completely satisfied with that roster I think in the Pacers case I I think they’re clearly a fun team that can win ball games that can outscore you and whether they’re a piece away or two

Pieces away prior to this trade they felt like this is an opportunity to improve the roster and improve the team whether that vaults them into into Eastern Conference contention I you know and they whether they think that or not that’s up to them I I I’m not there yet

As it relates to the Raptors I go back to last year again where they’re just in trade rumors they end up hanging on to these guys they they lose in the playin in the playin um tournament they don’t make the playoffs they’re coming off a season where they lose to Philly in the

First round I I think the the writing’s on the wall and so you you if you’re Messiah if you’re Bobby Webster you’re looking at return what is a palpable return because if you wait and wait and wait again maybe maybe a palpable return doesn’t happen again yeah or maybe Indie goes

And gets someone else and then you’re holding the bag again yeah yeah exactly exactly

  1. Well this is fun. We also have some Embiid / Jokic breakdowns AND Franz Wagner is joining us later this week. Be sure to subscribe and tune in!

  2. So is Toronto rebuilding or what? cause now they don’t have a proven star and no real presence in the paint !! I’m not sold on jontay & poeltl

  3. I don't like the whole "Star player wants to play through a rebuild" rhetoric that gets thrown around because what that ultimately means is that they aren't good enough for a max contract but want one. It is better to try and get it from the team you are in obviously. But I have no doubt that if the Raptors threw a max contract at Pascal, the minute he is going through a 15 win rebuild system at the age of 31 or 32 he is 100% going to ask for a trade!

  4. Pascal wanted to stay but wouldn’t take a pay cut.

I’m sick of these guys wanting their bag not realizing that if they took a pay cut, yet remain minted, they would win a chip. Then the team has more money and then they get paid more.

These guys make more money than they need. So take 7 million less and make it work.

  5. Could the sixers fit him in mext year if they move a couple of pieces…Pascal with embid and Maxey. Would be amazing balanced team.

  6. Siakam going to be dropping 30 every other game i know he will be getting alot of open shots on my Indiana Pacers

  7. This trade opens up the raptors offense more ball movement more open 3s flowing offense Pascal defense has fallen big time because his focus on getting his points

  8. Make no mistake about this….the Pacers know exactly what Siakam wants to resign as we speak….and Siakam absolutely has said he will resign….thats the only way you give up this much draft capital

  9. I understand what Indy did here short term, but we have to think long term – 5 years for 50mil~ a year is a lot for Siakam, at 30 years old. That's my concern. Also, will they make another play or develop their young guys?
One of which is in Siakam's position.

  10. To me a traditional pointguard is a point guard that can score and can create for others. Hence Tray and Tyrese are traditional point guards. What else should be the definition JJ?

  11. What is going to be big for the Pacers too is that Siakam can play that mid range isolation game. The Raptors did this too much (especially last year), which made it ineffective, but to go a player like that at the end of a possession. I'm mostly curious to see if he can be a consistent catch and shoot guy on this team, because in the halfcourt, he will sometimes just have to wait in the corner.

  12. What does it mean if after 7.5 minutes JJ Redick says "I've got to be honest with you"…? What, so far you were bullshitting, or not speaking your mind?!

  13. JJ being the head of the Tyrese fan club is great, and honestly, if Indiana wasn't your #1 League Pass team, they should be now, forget top 5!

  14. As a Raptors fan, losing Siakam really completes a rough few years. We said goodbye to Lowry, Fred, OG and now Pascal. Outside of Lowry, those were all home-grown players and they mean a lot to fans here. I'm happy we got three first rounders, but they will be awfully lucky to find somebody as good as Siakam, OG or Fred with any of those. But a change had to happen. It's just tough to see guys you've cheered for playing for other teams.

  15. I'm a season ticket holder and have a bunch of Pascale autographs and it sucks seeing him go…i just wish we can get 1 player high end…..losing Fred sucked bad

  16. it's going to be funny when american media realizes how great siakam actually is. if he resigns in indy, they fleeced.

  17. Warriors can win but Kerr cant see the use of young plays at his disposal. Putting Trayce Jackson- Davis at Center is the perfect way to see, having Dario on the power forward on helping in the glass and spacing up for threes. Kuminga in small forward. It's not rocket science. Kerr needs to rethink the roster. Trade wiggins, green, klay, and look 1 year contracts to end the year for cap space to sign back up players offseason.

  18. Yes Siakam is a great for the team but he still needs to improve with the 3 and the defense. Trading 3 First rounds better be worth improving on those two things. Pacers could put Obi Toppin in SF could work on passing for more assist for the team in that position.

  19. A great deal for Siakam and the Pacers. He'll definitely re-sign. He's still put up good performances this season in an environment that doesn't want him. He will revel in Pacers' offence and bring intensity and accountability to the defense.
Also, he's a young 29, having taken basketball up late and entering the league at 24. He's still improving.

  20. It was always Indy. As WOJ said, if he went anywhere else he was leaving n coming to INDY. He n Hali have been talking since last year n wanted to team up with Hali. It’s the perfect offensive system for his style.

  21. Low first round picks in the mid twenties. They dont need more of those guys when theyre trying to identify the core talent on the roster.

  22. The entire problem with the “traditional point guard” is the semantics of it lol. There’s no one true definition that people will agree on. I would consider Hali the “new age traditional” PG absolutely.

  23. The biggest loser in this trade? McDonalds Canada. Haha. They just released a Siakam Swirl McFlurry on the menu here in Canada. 🙂

  24. Bruce Browm rerouted to Miami or Boston could be crazy I’m sure Denver will try but idk how they get it done without it hurting the team more overall, if Im Miami I’m offering Lowry and 2 second round picks for Brown if I’m Boston I offer Pritchard and a first round pick

  25. @JJ, If Haliburton is not a traditional point guard, then who if anybody in the NBA now is a traditional point guard?

    His teammate TJ?
    CP3?

Really, I'm curious. And I'd love to hear your definition of a traditional point guard, and perhaps how that role has changed in the last decade or so.
