Murray + Capela would be OK, depending on the cost as always. Both players have their issues wrt to age, contract, fit, and overall talent, but if we’re aiming for a fix this season and maybe next, it may be as good as we can do. It will cost us youth + picks for sure, though, in addition to CP3 as the most likely salary match.

I don’t even read anything that comes from Heavy.com. Everything they post is clickbait and never a real scoop. Just speculating for views.

I think if they (FO and ownership) decide they want to go all in on this season and next season, getting Murray, cappela, and 1 more 3&D wing (Royce o Neil/DFS?) would be worth it. Either way you are betting on the core being reenergized, and getting some 2 way veterans with at least one all star level talent can maybe instill some Actual belief in the team.
Regardless, after this season klay is taking a 60% pay cut, and he’s smart enough to see that at this point. He hasn’t been super consistent, but getting another number 2 (what Wiggins was supposed to be) would allow him to be the 3rd option, and getting some defensive help would allow Steph dray and klay some relief. It’s not a perfect fit, but i don’t think somehow shaving a bunch of cap space helps them win a title, this year or next.
With everyone extending, either literally or behind closed doors agreements like siakim with Indy, most big name players don’t ever hit free agency anymore. Don’t know if it’s a good idea to punt on this season, especially when the west doesn’t look completely impenetrable.
Mikal bridges would obviously be the perfect answer, but if he’s for sale, every team would bid at that point and idk if we would have the best offer

one huge positive if warriors trade for murray is that his contract even though it’s starts to rise significantly after this season, his AAV is really affordable when you compare it to the rest of the NBA going forward
2024/25 – murray’s 25.5 million cap hit ranks #54 for the highest salary next season
just to give you how affordable murray’s contract is compared to some other high salary players going forward … murray’s 25.5 million cap would be behind the likes of wiggins’ 26 million, collins’ 26.6 million, hero’s 29 million, vassell’s 29.3 million, poole’s 29.6 million, mccullum’s 33 million, ayton’s 34 million, garland’s 36.7 million, holliday’s 39.4 million, simmons’ 40.3 million, vanvleet’s 42.8 million, lavine’s 43 million, young’s 43 million, gobert’s 43.8 million, beal’s 50 million
2025/26 – murray’s 27.5 million cap hit ranks #47
2026/27 – murray’s 29.5 million cap hit ranks #29
2027/28 – murray’s 31.5 million cap hit ranks #16
of course with young player’s getting more massive extensions every offseason some of those future rankings will likely be lower than where it’s projected to be as of now
murray’s last year of his deal at 31.5 million is still lower than a player like garland’s salary next season and i’d probably put murray and garland at the same level or caliber as a guard in the NBA now and going forward
if paul is involved which i think the hawks would prefer him over wiggins to make the salaries match, it’d be essentially trading poole for murray which i think most warriors fans would’ve done in recent years if you just go player for player value and on court production … although you unfortunately would probably have to include kuminga in that trade which i’d hate to see happen but i think any “big name” vet the warriors acquire that other team is going to want kuminga as part of the package going back to them

Why not go for Bojan and Isaiah stewart

I know this isn’t a reliable source but I still feel like this is our best case scenario if ownership wants to go all in on the end of Steph’s career. This gives us Murray who is 27, potentially lets us keep Wiggs and JK, and gives us a solid center in Capela. In a few years we’d still have the same core so it’s not a huge stretch to say that we’d be competitive enough that those draft picks would be outside of the lottery. If we believe that Lakers offer, IMO CP3/Moody/draft picks isn’t that bad
