POSTGAME REACTION: Miami Heat vs. Atlanta Hawks, 1/19/24.

Questions guys uh the way it played out the last on that play with two seconds left um in the Huddle was there the thought there was a time for a pass and and was it set up for a plan B Beyond Jimmy it’s uh one of those plays

Um that when I’m I’m going through it in my head I’m thinking that there’s going to be an advantage uh in that corner um and it just didn’t play out that way uh you know two seconds left so I I really just wanted to see if he could get some

Space and and and shoot it over the top uh um that was a poor play call um I’m I’m disappointed in my in my call on that um it it was they had something else in mind when Murray got that rebound they didn’t call timeout did you feel like the defense

Got organized and was there really really anything you could have done better no he had an extremely tough shot I I thought you know our best guy on him Caleb and didn’t back up he picked him up he picked him up at about half court uh and

And tried to level him off and he just got to that left hand a little bit of a rhythm got him uh to back up just to count um but that’s a 26 foot you know shot um you know the other mistake I made is I I

Think I could have helped and called a timeout you know we got a little bit jammed up there Tyler in the corner we went a little bit early on that I think there was still four or five seconds left on the clock uh just to get organize and get something in the middle

Of the floor um you know to be able to uh doesn’t guarantee anything um but that might look a little bit different if there’s uh four less seconds and Caleb picks him up you know where he did it might get rushed a little bit more he might not necessarily have gotten to his

His spot uh on that um you know so that’s it’s just shocking you know I I think when bam and and Caleb got the double block I think we all thought in the arena that we were getting the win um I think you know bogdanovich on the

Baseline out of bounds we covered it pretty well uh J Rich was right with him I think it was going to be a contested Fade Away uh and and you live with that you know as long as it’s heavily contested but that just kind of you know

Put two points on the board very quickly um and then you know we just didn’t get totally organized uh on the other end and that that you know that’s on me was the lineup change with Kyle a lineup change or was it an administrative internal team

Matter you know with Hae out there there are some moving Parts with this um you know so um I’m not going to be just experimenting in the second half this is about winning uh right now but um combinations and lineups do matter um and having Kyle kind of um anchor that

Second unit while Hime is out um you know I think is important um and also uh that that starting group uh that can be dynamic um you know I think this is a small sample size but we’ll just see you know we’ll do whatever we have to do um

You know in the second half of the season so that change was not about an administrative matter of something that happened earlier today what I just said should we repeat that that’s what I wanted to that yeah okay all right thank you J me two seconds to play not a lot

Of time to try to do a lot um one um your thoughts on the pass to Caleb and I know it’s in real time and when you made the pass did you feel that he had a chance to get up a shot to beat the buzzer uh I think so I probably should

Have shot it though to be brutally honest I guess I could have um I felt like I saw him take a step my way to come double so um I passed the ball to Caleb I think I put him in a in a terrible position cuz I should be the

One to take and make that shot Jeremy Murray makes a really tough three there at the end but before that the minutes leading up to it what was Atlanta doing just to kind of hang around and stay in the game to make that Murray shot matter um make shots get to

The free throw line um I think they they did a good job of that um down the stretch and then he you know was a Allstar he was a he was a player pulled up hit a tough shot and um that’s what really good players do and he’s one of

Those guys you know Jim I know you’re coming off the loss I guess a little bit or sweep but still UD obviously got his uh Jersey raised up there uh come what were those emotions like you know kind of being with him man I’m I’m I’m happy

For him um everything he’s done for this organization for this city for the game of basketball man and um he should be an inspiration to so many um just because people always count you out or view you lesser than you can be great if you

Embrace Your Role and you be a star in that role man and I think he’s he’s taught everybody something different something special um so it’s only right that that number never be worn again here Jim you mentioned the shot from deante but just he got going in that

First half specifically what what did you feel he was doing specifically to kind of find his way uh attack attack attack attack um I feel like he was always putting pressure on the rim getting to the to the cup he was uh making all the right plays I and he was

Just being a stellar point guard man he’s he’s a hell of a player he’s been that way for a very long time and he was a a major key in and winning tonight man we often hear um when a play like that doesn’t go right that it’s not

That play but it’s other stuff that happened in the game to get to that point uh coach was talking about that to a degree also is that sort of your thought that one it shouldn’t have got that way you were up five late can you sort of take us through where you

Thought the breakdowns might have come even before the final play uh I mean that was a tough shot at the by uh dejonte Murray um but you know I feel like it was the timely offensive rebounds that they got uh even though it was only what nine

Yeah it was only nine but it was some of the Swing plays in the middle 50/50 balls um you know defensive laps not talking uh you know those made the difference B Ben the cold shooting kind of is what it is that’s going to wax and

Way over the course of the season but now that you Jimmy and Tyler are back in the lineup together has there been any sort of re acclamation or adjustment process to to the offense with all three of you back and able to go yeah uh you

Know you get you get used to one guy being out there or two and then when you have all three of us um you know we’re all trying to play the right way but also try to be aggressive uh you know it’s going to be some rough passage

Rough passes and we just need to keep working through it obviously a little bit Bittersweet with you’s Jersey retirement but you know kind of looking up and you’ve we’ve always talked about the the Jersey retirement happening but now seeing it officially up there is it

Sort of settle in for you that this is reality I’m sick we lost this game uh just because him bodies winning uh you know he’s one of those people truth be told during the date when they told him what it was he called me right away and I was like hey man the

Only thing that’s going to make me happy we get the win um and you know when you take stuff like that to heart uh and you come out with this type of game and you lose on you know a special night like this especially for a guy that’s undrafted um three championships with

The same organization for 20 years he’s an anomaly you know he he’s one of those people who they don’t come around often because it’s not a lot of opportunity in this league for you know guys like that uh so for him to have this moment you

Know I’m blessed to be a part of it um I’m blessed that you know he he’s he’s my OG um but you know I’m really down that we we lost this game on this night

  1. Bwahaha! Heat lose again. Too bad blazers didn’t value their trash assets this summer or they’d be able to close out games. 😂😂😂

  2. Come on .No more bs coach spo. This team has got to straighten up for real .Got to start beating big teams at least some.We know heat does well in finals!!!Heat NATION.

  3. as soon as they said trae was out, i knew heat would lose. heat play down to opponents and half ass it when they think they can get easy win. and the hawks are actually better without trae and his ball hogging and turnovers and bad shots. so i new the heat would lose i didnt know that it would be competitive i was actually happy with how butler played. butler played very well like it was a playoff butler.

  4. who is jeremy tache?? why is he everywhere on bally now and asking these stupid questions. who is his daddy to be everywhere and he has the most boring personality and ask the dumbest questions. please get rid of this trust fund baby.

  5. Since juniors been hurt. The Miami Heat are completely confused. Bring the rookie back as soon as possible. I know he’s hurt with a groin injury but the Miami Heat are not the same team unless he’s in there. I see it.

  6. Miami desperately in need of help at the PG position… Lowry needs to go but he is Jimmy’s boy & Pat Riley believes in having a veteran backcourt player … at 30M, the production is not good enough… All Miami needs is Murray, Rozier or Sexton !!!

    Pull the damn trigger!

  7. Bring Jaimie back he gives great passes last nite passes were poor too many turnovers was bad
Miami needs too pickup the aggressiveness and realized each game is a playoff.
