Bruce Brown on Knicks trade rumors: ‘I can do just about whatever coach Thibodeau needs me to do’

> “I am a dog,” Brown told The Post on Saturday night prior to the Raptors’ 126-100 loss to the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. “I play extremely hard on both ends of the floor. I can do just about whatever [Thibodeau] needs me to do.”

> “I play extremely hard,” Brown said. “I would think [I’m] the type of player that he likes.”

> “Every time we play Thibs I go up to him and shake his hand, just because of what he’s done,” Brown said. “Nothing but respect for Thibs.”

> “I love New York,” Brown said. “I hated New York before I lived here, but as soon as I moved here I loved it. Anytime you want to do something you can go do it. Great restaurants, great city, I love being back.”

And suddenly I fervently want Bruce Brown on the Knicks bench. Just takes wanting to be here honestly.

  2. Agitated_Smoke538

We really went from a last resort option to players openly pitching to come here in interviews lol

  3. Lmao this is the first time I’ve heard someone say this so directly about trade rumors

Bro what is with this trade openness lately

It’s like since the front office/media are so open with who’s on the trade block the players are just saying fuck it and not pretending to be unaware anymore, I find it pretty hilarious tbh

This one is a little strange though because it seems like he wants to be traded again yet he just paid 10k for a jersey number in Toronto?

This is done in good faith, nothing wrong here Mr. Silver

It’s kind of crazy how quickly the Knicks went from a team nobody wanted to go near to a team players are openly campaigning to get to. Funny how being remotely competent for a couple years in the biggest market in the country works.

Bruce, I’m going to need you to never smile like that again

  8. Blowback_

NY would be happy to embrace a champion in that locker room.

  9. our dawg pound is full, we need a playmaker though

  10. Toffelino

Bruce Brown will bone your ass right now. DOG!

  11. ZoroChopper10

Raptors are rebuilding, this guy just won a championship as a huge contributor

    He wants to win

He’s not good 3pt shooter, idk if he fits Knicks but his defense is really great

  12. fuzzynavel34

I don’t think he wants to be in Toronto

  13. ObiOneKenobae

He’d be great here generally speaking, but I don’t see the fit with our current roster. He has a lot of overlap with Hart. Our needs are more for a primary ball handlers sparkplug and for a general backup big man.

  14. HoyaDestroya33

Sure bud but Jalen aint selling his #11

  15. mwerichards

I had to double check our Raptors roster because I wasn’t sure if he was still with us lol what a wild quote

  16. batdogfoxhound

as a Knicks fan it is just really cool to have players want to come here now

  17. BizzaroMatthews

You hear that Paul Pierce? Bruce Brown is a DOG! He will bone your ass!

  18. nj_legion_ice_tea

Hartenstein + OG + Brown + Hart would be hell of a defense to put next to Brunson

  19. Low-Psychology2444

Hey can we have the frp this time

  20. Dragon-Bender

How much would it cost to get him from the Raptors Fournier and a 2nd?

He also just knows we’d guarantee his salary

  21. flippantenthusiast11

Bruce is driving the price higher for the Knicks. Thank you Bruce, we’ll take Grimes an expiring Frenchman and a 1st and Thibs will be be fucking thankful lol

  22. motherseffinjones

The raptors are blowing it up and brown is likely getting traded. It is what it is

  23. Daconvix

Is he worth the Knicks getting if they already have Josh Hart tho? Aren’t they like the same archetype of a player?

  24. TrentonGreener

This was in reference to the NYK being suitors of his before he signed with the Pacers. He goes on to say that the Knicks couldn’t come close to the Pacers offer.

This is taken way out of context. He’s not asking for a trade at all, he was referencing his fit with the Knicks & their coach prior to signing with the Pacers.

  25. DreadLockedHaitian

Too expensive for a hometown reunion so down 95 is the next best option

  26. Daym00n79

It’s such a crazy timeline for me as a New York fan lol. I feel like this is the first time I’ve ever seen someone openly excited to play for the franchise. It feels so good to not be a dumpster fire anymore

  27. youredoingWELL

    Imagine a lineup of Brunson/Brown/Hart/Anunoby/Robinson

  28. smalls_1804

He’s literally just Josh Hart. I get that he might be better than Hart, but he would be absurdly redundant on our team

  29. Brooklynfool

I love how the Knicks are being ran now . Not too long ago they were sort of the laughing stock of the league (lolknicks era was brutal) but now they legit have an amazing culture w a very underrated team . They lost Mitch for the season and have barely missed a beat (IHart is crazy good) . Shout out Leon Rose for FINALLY bringing some stability to that franchise. The NBA is a lot better when the Knicks are good imo.

Edit: lmao I said all of this bc you have guys actually wanting to go and play for NY. Being a Knick means something again !
