Blake IS TAKING Malaki’s Spot!? San Antonio Spurs News

Blake Wesley has been playing really well lately unfortunately Malachi brandom has not I got no love for the F if you want to play tough and want to hate this I show up and make a statement what is up San Antonio Spurs fans welcome to TSR Sports I got to

Thinking over the weekend like man I really feel like malot brandom’s kind of in the doghouse right now really in a short leash and I caught an article on pounding the rock that really confirmed that I thought you know what let me share a little fli from that article and

Then give my two cents of course give your two cents in the comments down below Spurs fans is Blake Wesley taking Malachi Brandon spot in the rotation or has he already done so let me know the comments down below hit the thumbs up you like to help support the channel and

Subscribe to become part of our awesome Spurs Community let’s get into the article I found first on pounding the rock Malachi brandom is clearly on a short leash right now for the second game in a row he was benched after bad play in the first half and never

Returned seeding his minutes to a rapidly improving Blake Wesley after being pulled for a bad defensive rotation in the first half against Charlotte he ended the first quarter in Washington by getting his pocket picked while dribbling down the clock resulting in a Wizard’s layup just before the

Buzzer Trey Jones returned in his place to start the second quarter and Wesley again got his back of minutes from then on I remember that turnover in the Washington game as I’m sure many of you do I was like oh boy great job Malachi and that was the last time we saw him

That game if we take a look at the last five games just a short sample size of how both players are playing this is Malachi brandom first we look at his minute Spurs fan he played okay in the Bulls game shot terribly from Beyond The Arc actually he’s been shooting terribly

From Beyond The Arc his all short NBA career so far but he did contribute 14 points but since then only 10 minutes against Atlanta he had 16 minutes against Boston and then 8 minutes against Charlotte and then he had that turnover in Washington and was pulled after only playing four minutes now the

Combination of his bad play there and Blake Wesley’s improved play and granted Blake’s game still has a lot of issues he can’t hit a three to save his life I don’t believe he’s hit a three player a three-pointer all year and he’s been struggling mightily from the freest line

But as you can see he has been playing much better 15 minutes the last two games he’s getting you know some assists in his backup rle and been scoring here and there and contributing and he’s got his blazing speed he’s making better decisions all in all just the eyeball

Test really when you look at Malik brandom as of late he’s struggling and Blake Wes is not and you know what we’re going to defend malkey brandom here just for a second SP fans he was drafted as a three-level scorer Now Grant some games he’s only two-level score heck sometimes

He’s a no Lev score and that’s not helping us out he’s not a great defender but he’s kind of in a Malachai brandom point guard experiment where he started point in some games as a starter and now he’s kind of the backup point guard for the Spurs backing up Trey Jones he’s not

A point guard he’s being pushed into that role he is failing at that role and I clearly at least I think he’s losing confidence and he’s clearly seems to be on a very very short lnch but it’s not as highly fair to him that’s not not his

Position and he’s playing way out of position point guard is I think you would agree the hardest position to learn in the NBA and when you’ve been playing one position your whole career and now you’re getting asked to do backup Duty and starter Duty and another

We saw Jeremy so in fail miserably at point guard yeah fail miserably and now Malachi 2 is being severely affected by being put into this role I think he’ll boun bounce back it’ll take time if Doug mcder or ched osma get traded before the very upcoming and close right around the

Corner trade deadline which I think is around February 8th then I’ll probably get those minutes back but he’s on a short leash if he messes up has a turnover hits misses a couple shots has a couple bad defensive plays I think pop to AO are not going to see him again or

Maybe even starting tonight against 76 or 7 p.m. Eastern in NBA TV we’ll be live just little cheap plug maybe Blake has already taken that spot he’s been playing with confidence the turnovers are much less than we had saw previously this season and last season he’s

Finishing so much better at The Rim now it was a running joke on this channel last year and earlier this year in the summer league preseason that Blake Wesley just him going into the paint is essentially a turnover as he just got blocked left and right whenever he would

Go for a layup blocked blocked he would just always put his Defender and his body in a great position for the defender to easily block the shot and he’s doing that far left he’s getting some dunks here and there he plays a very good defense and pretty much

Directly if I’m wrong but I think he shut Trey young down in the second half when he was on him when the Hawks played the Spurs young was having a career type game in the first half Blake was defending him in the second half and Trey could not get anything going so

He’s a much better Defender than Malik brand he’s extremely fast in transition and he is a point guard the Spurs drafted him as a point guard he’s a starting point guard yet no I don’t think so not at all but I think he should clearly be the backup to try

Moving moving forward Trey Jones in needs a rest put Blake in he’s playing at a much better level right now playing with confidence but don’t just don’t give up on Malachai just have him come off to be what he what you draft him for be a score and maybe things will get better

As the season progresses this is a season you know that we keep saying you know experimentation trust the process Etc but I think we also need to put our players in the best position to succeed and having Jeremy soan be a point guard clearly was not the best place for to

Succeed or his teammates surrounding him and Malachi Brandon playing the point clearly not the best place in my opinion from who to succeed and it doesn’t seem to be helping anybody around him either so we’ll see we have four games this Sak week’s first fans we have four games

Next week got a lot of games couple back to backs hopefully wheny minutes restriction gets lifted sometimes this week I know it’s driving you crazy it’s driving me crazy seeing our guy play only 25 26 minutes game barred from playing back to back and we have that

Back to back this weekend and next week so hopefully he he gets back to just being out there as much as possible within reason because he’s fun to watch and the team even though they’re losing still quite a bit has been so much more competitive lately minus I guess the

Celtics game which that’s the Celtics and tonight might be a rough game too against the Sixers I’m very excited to see when against embiid embiid is a big dude correct me if I’m wrong Spurs fans but isn’t about 280 285 if memory serves me correct that’s going to be a tough

Match up for wemy that being said wemy was incredible height and Agility and ability might be able to still defend him well you know being might be able to mus him around but he might be able to reposition himself and affect the shot or block the shot so we’ll see it’ll be

A fun time and hey best luck to both these guys I know some are you saying give up and pick you know give up trade them trade them these were 2022 first round picks I’d like to see both of these guys succeed instead of failing that’s all I got I’ll see you tonight

For the Spurs 76ers thank you for tuning in and as always ghost spurs Go when I feel like this I’m a moral when I feel like this I’m a moral when I feel like this I’m a moral

Should be intersting to see how this plays out!

  1. Should Blake be ahead of Malaki in the rotation Spurs fans? (BTW it apeaars Malaki is statistically the WORST defender in the NBA!!!) Thanks for watching and GO SPURS GO!

  2. I thought they played different positions? Then again, Blake does seem like a combo guard…

I want both of them to succeed. But it is troubling to see Malaki at the VERY bottom of the league's defensive efficiency list. I'm glad to see Blake work for his minutes, though.

  3. Last year beginning of the year Blake was getting more minutes than Malaki until Blake was injured

  4. When Branham is hitting shots, he's valuable to the team. When he's missing, he's a liability on offense and defense.
Wesley is a dog on defense. We know he's not good offensively, but his defense is always there.
Branham strikes me as an insecure player

  5. The Spurs are victims of HIGH STANDARDS.

I mean….The Spurs are The Future.

Compare it to Chicago. Since Jordan retired, The Bulls are INSIGNIFICANT.

It is just a matter of time for the Spurs to win another(?) Championships.

LeTurd James is OLD and Desperate. The Warriors pseudo dynasty is over. Jokic and Giannis are getting old too.

The Spurs have the players to win.

    I will wait…It won't be long.

  6. While Malaki has the higher offensive upside and high volume shooting. His defense leaves much much more to be desired. I’m happy to see Blake get more minutes especially after his injury early last year. After the primo allegations came about and he started getting his minutes he was looking great early. You can’t teach speed when it comes to Blake. All in all I want to see them both stay and become great with this soon to be dynasty

  7. The coaching staff is definitely sifting through the team to see what the flaws are. We have 82 games to "experiment" and I only HOPE the team scouts are watching the league for trades

  8. Malaki is the worst defender in the league , I’m not kidding, he is statistically the worst lol…. Malaki might get Luka sandwhiched out the roster

  9. I don't know the answer to your question about whether Blake is permanently replacing Malaki, but I'm just happy to see Pop coaching again! I know, he's been coaching all along, but he has been letting guys get minutes and leaving them out there even when they made dumb mistakes. I'm sure he just wanted to give them all time to learn. But now it looks like he is starting to COMPETE more, pulling guys who aren't performing well in an effort to actually WIN the game and letting players know that they must play the right way or sit! Hope to see much more of Blake. Pop said recently that Blake is "forcing us to give him minutes" (or something like that) by his play on the court. Awesome!

  10. Malaki is statistically one of the worst defenders in the entire NBA. And his offensive game isnt even close to trae youngs to where he can get away with 0 defense. During the wizards game, i literally saw malaki get the ball stolen from him from jordan poole, chase down poole, and just jumped with poole when poole did a layup. Malaki didnt even extend his arms to try to contest. He just chased down poole and jumped with him for no reason. That's not defense. Thats called "trying to look like I'm doing defense even though I'm not so I don't get benched". It was the stupidest thing ive ever seen. This dude shouldnt even be in the nba.

  11. I like Malaki but right now his Offense isn’t good enough to make up for his terrible Defense. But Wesley’s Defense definitely makes up for his Lack of Offense. If there’s one thing our guys lack as a whole it’s Defense. I’d like to see Wesley get more time on the court. His Hustle and Effort on the defensive side of the ball has not gone unnoticed.

  12. Thank you for bringing up these analysis videos. Shows again pop trying to force these guys into PG roles doesnt work. And lets be honest BOTH of these guys SHOULD be cooking in the gleague and called upon as needed for subs. but this is the reality we live, i hope the spurs arent afraid to spend money on some more experienced pgs on the market this offseason, at least 1 if not 2 to compete and work with TRE.

  13. Bout time, I like Malaki but sometimes I wish he wouldn’t jack up shots when he’s struggling.

  14. To be fair for Blake, his struggles on offense aren’t much different than Dejuante. DJ couldn’t make a layup and never shot that well and he’s really hit it hard and has a good career. I have a good feeling about Wesley

  15. Seems like Blake and Malachi keep jockeying back and forth in their developmental phases, since they were drafted together. Two cars headed the same direction on the highway. One minute it Blake looking like a the better player, then Malachi in the lead. Back and forth they go, which is great for their overall long-term improvement.

  16. It’s crazy to think that I too am a Spurs, NY Giants and Yankees, and ACFC fan. Great video man. Keep up the great work!!!

  17. Malakai is slowly becoming Lonnie Walker sadly. He has to be able to doing more than just offense, especially when his threes aren't falling. He can't be our worst defender and play

  18. You are way too focused on the exact position people play in. Malakai was not the PG of the team, we have no PG. We just play team basketball. The problem for Malakai is that he wasn't even that great offensively and defensively he has not progressed at all. We need more defense with Wemby around, we already have Devin/Keldon/Sochan, if Malakai wants minutes it needs to be in the "PG" position
