> The Milwaukee Bucks are trying to barge their way into the trade chase for Atlanta’s Dejounte Murray.
> The mere fact that the Bucks are trying to get involved with Murray — given the serious challenges they face to actually pull it off — might end up being the headline here. Milwaukee awoke Monday just 3 1/2 games behind Boston for the No. 1 seed in the East, but the Bucks’ interest in Murray adds credence to the notion that Giannis Antetokounmpo’s team feels the gap is more significant.
> It tells us that Bucks, for all of the offensive potency that Damian Lillard has brought to Brewtown, feel even more vulnerable defensively on the perimeter than they anticipated after being forced to surrender Jrue Holiday to Portland in the original Lillard trade.
> The unavoidable question for Milwaukee, though, is how to create a sufficiently compelling trade offer to be considered a credible threat in the Murray chase after everything it had to give up to acquire Lillard. The Bucks, to put it charitably, are not exactly flush with draft capital.
> Let’s say Milwaukee somehow manufactures those picks. It’s also difficult to envision how the Bucks could construct such a deal without at least including Bobby Portis, which would create its own significant void. Portis, 28, has two seasons left on his contract after this one.
> This much is clear: The Bucks are generally being aggressive on the trade market in search of upgrades — Murray or otherwise.

do it yolo
I mean if he’s willing and able to become more of a defensive role again it would be good.
As much as I love Bobby I’d trade him for Dejounte Murray in a heartbeat.
Maybe unpopular opinion, but I’m not sure making more drastic changes to the roster is really going to help, at least for this season. Seems like our issue is not lack of talent but lack of chemistry and fit, and shipping out more of our veterans to get another big name seems to me like it will only increase those problems. IMO the team has to try to make it work with what they’ve got for now.
As long as we win a championship ; I’m aware there will be roster casualties. Unfortunate.
Consider it done. I will say tho DJ not gonna like his role under Dame Giannis and Khris (if we don’t trade him). That doesn’t make since since he’s best as lead ball handler
if the Hawks have competent people in the front office they will ask for 2 of our young guys as well. That’s the only way it can happen without draft picks
Dejounte Murray hasn’t played defense in 3 seasons. I’m happy to see we’re aggressive, but I don’t think he’s the fit.
Losing Bobby should be considered a plus to any trade at this point.
Gonna be honest I’m shocked that the framework of Bobby + Pat for Murray is even being talked about by media that’d be nuts if it happened.
As a huge Bobby fan I’d be really upset.
But I got over Holiday going and I was a big fan of his too
If DJM comes in ready to play defense and is content being a 4th option then sure but I would worry his reputation for being a defensive stopper is way more reputation than reality.
I’d miss Bobby a lot but be okay with this. The real question is, what would our plan be to get another backup big?
So if this were to happen, who’s the backup center for Brook? Not Robin ofc. Also, I don’t keep up with DM’s career, but aren’t their better defensive fits? Based on people’s comments, he hasn’t played great D for a while…
I’d gladly trade often injured and eased into the season out of shape Middleton and washed up Pat for Murray and Bogdanovic. Call me crazy but I’m ready for some drastic house cleaning. Or Middleton and Beauchamp and Pat and Robin to Jazz for rumored John Collins and Sexton. This frees up two roster spots if Tucker is bought out. Also free spot if we trade Brook or Bobby then. Bucks were linked to Collins and Sexton before. But now we have to deal with Ainge.
Murray is good but it just seems like an odd fit. We already have a PG and we don’t need a SG that needs the ball like a PG
I don’t see the fit, sorry.
fuck it, trade bobby
I have thought for a couple of years now that Horst might take a liking to Murray and try find a way to get him here. Perfect for us in a lot of ways and I think his ceiling is much higher than we’ve seen in ATL
Come on! Does anyone rate Murray as a defender or is the plan to score 170 a game against teams scoring 150?!
The murray trade doesn’t fix the biggest problem we have, bench defense. If he comes over and starts over Beasley, our bench is still just entirely offense without a lick of defense
Pass.
If that post the other week was true about the CBA next year and that 2nd apron teams can’t trade multiple players for one player. They need to move Bobby and Pat to get someone on a contract that can be moved in the future. Pats value will only go down and his “small” salary won’t return much in a 1 for 1 trade.
We’re not getting Murray unless we put Ajax in there
