As an assistant on the Bulls, Thunder, and Raptors, Griffin’s players only had really glowing things to say about him and how positive and motivating he was. He was one of the most well regarded assistants in the NBA. Then as a head coach his players hated him. The same thing happened with Nate Bjorkgren — beloved as an assistant, hated as the head coach of the Pacers.
Some people just don’t have the personalities to be in charge, they become different people when they have authority. I’ve seen it happen in my real life.
