unlucky for them cause refs don’t admit their mistakes and the league backs them

  2. ajmcgill

Not sure what the league could even do about it but fuck yeah for calling it out so more people know because it was such bullshit

  3. MrAppleSpoink

As they fucking should. Absolutely disgraceful.

  4. loudstain

This will be nothing, but everyone knows it was horseshit. Refs are on one this season.

Based. League needs to take the officiating problem seriously. Hopefully this is blatant enough for them to actually do something about it (replay the final seconds next time OKC/POR play; they did this with the Heat in the 2000s I think)

  7. Memokerobi

Wonder how long the league can act like they don’t have an officiating problem.

    Probably for a long while..

  8. DarrowViBritannia

when the Rockets weren’t able to successfully protest a made shot not counted, i think it was clear that theres nothing that a protest can actually achieve.

  9. Rockstar408

The “clear” timeout call was made a split second before he double dribbled, behind the referee. Referees are not robots and this mistake was nowhere near egregious.

Every time this happens it shows why the league needs to implement a different system for calling timeouts. No reason you should still have to get the officials attention in the modern day, give them like a watch with a button they click or something.

Doesn’t this cost like $500k? Mavs did it last season.

  11. BrbToilet

Why is there no timeout button for the teams to use ?

  12. does the NBA think that people want to watch WWE with the refs instead of just good basketball? it’s insane how horrible refs have been this year and it feels so purposeful at times

  13. beaverlyknight

What the hell does “protest” even entail…like a few weeks ago the Lions lost a game with significant playoff seeding implications (although in a BDL twist it ended up not mattering) because the ref literally misread the number on a guy’s jersey, or otherwise had a clearly mistaken identity situation happening. They’re not gonna reverse results lol

  14. Otherwise_Form1315

They fucking should. that was a horseshit ending to the game. Fuck that ref hope he gets fired. My team just won and I’m still mad about this

  15. Salty_Watermelon

Portland will get an AI-generated apology letter. They can’t expect much more.

  16. Charliebitme1234

fair, it wont be overturned but the refs should be called out

  17. Snowmann88

“We investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing “..🙃

  18. Cul_what

If this comes out that refs did bullshit which they did then they need to be held responsible theyre being way to soft on these zebra mfs

  19. thorhyphenaxe

Chauncey’s last-ditch effort to prove he gives a shit? Too little too late, bozo. Kick rocks

  20. lexalander

It looks like Chauncey doesn’t really start to call timeout until right before the whistle and when the ref is looking away from him.

  21. Its so hard for me to watch the NBA, because its so hard for me to get into a game I know 100% is not an actual fair competition. There’s so many examples of blatant ref ball. Even going back decades, with the betting scandal, dude was apparently able to correctly pick almost ever game just by knowing which way the refs were likely to be biased for or against certain players or teams. That’s not even a sport, its just people jumping around for no reason. Might as well not even keep score.

  22. starfruit213

NBA definitely gonna have another crooked refs and/or higher ups scandal in the near future

  23. Watching OKC celebrate was hilarious. They are going to get waxed in the first round.

  24. Not surprised we put in a protest. I don’t think anything will really come of it, but it’s important for a ref fuck up this glaring to get called out formally.

  25. I don’t know what will come from this but it has to be done, the officiating is reaching a critical point. We can’t ignore how much it has deteriorated and is impacting the NBA product

“While the time out calls were missed by the league official, this did not force the player to restart their dribble. Consequently, the double dribble call was correct given the circumstances, and the end of the game was not altered. The call, resulting technical fouls, and game result will stand.” – my assumed result of a league investigation into the protest

  27. Targetonmyback07

Refs just taking the piss now , basically calling whatever the fuck they want

  28. 808zAndThunder

Tbh I don’t even understand this from a Blazers standpoint. To save pride sure but we’ve seen way worse egregious calls on higher profile players. Also why would they want a +1 win to their record in a tank year lmfao

  29. Legitimate-Angle9861

WALK OUT. Unless entire teams start walking out after such ridiculous calls the refs and NBA wouldn’t. Why even play if Refs decide who wins. Like literally – calling random fouls, not calling fouls, even reviews going wrong, give techs for no reason – it’s become a joke at this point.

  30. Andy_Wiggins

Yesterday’s Wolves-Hornets debacle coupled with tonight’s disaster could legitimately swing the NBA playoffs. You can’t be fucking up that bad.

  31. Sartheking

I’m glad more people are calling out how horrible the reffing has been. Refs make mistakes every year but it just seems to get worse.

  32. What’s the point? It’s not like the Blazers are fighting for a playoff spot.

  33. ZoidbergSaysWoop

The easy answer to all of this is to finally update the refereeing and have a fourth referee on the floor instead of the outmoded lead, center, trail refereeing system.

There should be a referee on each side of the floor, one on each corner.

There’s no excuse to miss a timeout in that spot.

  34. MavetheGreat

But had Brogdon even reported as eligible?

  35. Kokopolol

This was one of the most egregious officiating mistakes I’ve ever seen and they kept piling one bad call on top of another.

  36. delirdinmi88

Fuck okc and their disgusting preferential treatment
