Winners of four straight games and they are now 10 games above 500 now last night’s game was a big one for the Knicks because Jake I’m sure you saw the stat the New York Knicks are undefeated I believe 19 and0 against teams uh below 500 that tells me this Knicks team is

Taking care of business winning the games they’re supposed to win obviously the big storyline is though they have to learn how to beat the good teams but it’s definitely a good sign that in this current stretch of games they’re taking care of business and winning against the

Teams are supposed to be winning against no question that’s been the total opposite of what they have been for years right how many times have the Knicks kind of stubbed their toe and lost to a team they’re not supposed to lose to and it kind of derails a winning

Streak and it prolongs a losing streak uh it’s been it’s been awesome to see this team understand how to handle their business understand how to win games at home I mean they have not played a whole lot of home games this year they’re about to Embark they are currently

Embarking on a stretch where they’re at one point we’re going to play 10 of their next 12 at home even last night I know it was technically a road game felt like there were more Nick fans there than there were net fans as usual when they play and Brooklyn so this team

Continues to just be a breath of fresh air uh the way that they are built it’s the most complete well-rounded Knicks team we’ve had probably since that 54 win team with carmelo over a decade ago and they’re just fun to watch man you have two legitimate All-Star players and

Brunson who was playing like you know an all NBA player again and obviously uh Julius Randall in the regular season you can’t knock what he’s been able to do since he’s been a Nick and it’s just been unbelievable to see how quickly the ogan Noble Trade has benefited the

Knicks I mean their record since they acquired him has just been unbelievable and you know last night was a total team effort they didn’t play at their best but that’s kind of the NBA like if you’re a good team when you don’t play your aame you got to find a way to grind

Out a win and that’s what the Knicks were able to do last night with no hartenstein obviously they’re still without Mitchell Robinson it was a really nice win last night for this team it was a great win and you know you mentioned the the duo of Jaylen Brunson

And Julius Randall stepping up to the plate man both of them needs to be Allstars and if they’re not that’s a disgrace now I think they will be and I think the big discussion right now is Will Jaylen Brunson be an All-Star starter and I think he is on his way to

Do that I mean I feel like watching Jaylen Brunson play basketball is just a breath of fresh air it feels like a player that I’ve been waiting my entire Nicks fandom life to get a franchise point guard out here playing the level that he’s doing but like you said Jake

It ever since that trade the whole thing has changed the Knicks are 10- two since the trade and you can even go back to last year Jake and say when we traded for Josh Hart everything changed so for whatever reason Leon Rose makes these mid-season trades and it makes an

Immediate impact it’s not like they have to get an adjustment we have to see figure out okay chemistry no it feels like the chemistry is even better they’re playing together within each other and this Nicks team is playing their best basketball I’ve like ever seen in my life now I don’t know if

That’s stretch and I might be getting a little over the top here Jake but like help me out here when’s the last time we saw these Knicks play this good basketball on a consistent basis man I mean this well you probably have to go back to that 54 win team right I mean

The Knicks have had moments the last couple years but they have never been 10 games over 500 this early in a season since I saw last night that 2012 2013 season the 54 win year where they went all the way out of game six of the second round and and hindsight really

Should have probably beaten that Indiana team and played Miami in the Conference Finals that year and before that you got to go back to the 20002 one season so it has been a really long time uh since the Knicks have played like this and I think

The the the scary thing Richie is I don’t think they have even come close to reaching their true potential they add another scorer potentially by the trade deadline they improved their bench they get Mitchell Robinson back by the end of the regular season and this team is as

Dangerous as as really any team in the East probably minus what the Celtics I mean Milwaukee even with their record they fired their coach yesterday we know the Knicks have seemingly played Philadelphia tough they blew them out in their building when they played earlier this year so you know you look at the

East and the Knicks if they could stay healthy make a couple moves here or there I think they’re as good as some of the any as some of these quote-unquote contending teams in the conference and you know the way Brunson is it just exploded this year after what he did in

The playoffs you feel like he got a chance against anyone and it’s crazy to have these conversations about the Knicks right now it is crazy and the coolest thing about it is I mean I’ve been going wild on this channel Jake because every sing report has been linking the Knicks to every single

Player and I’ve been trying to make a video on all the reports to kind of break down the speculation okay the Knicks are interested in this player this player so it seems like the OG and Obi trade was phenomenal but they’re not done the trade deadlines right around

The corner and the Knicks feel like they want to add another piece to go on a run right now this isn’t a move to set them up in the future this is a move to set them up today and I feel like that’s something Nick’s fans have to really

Wrap their head around now there’s a lot of speculation whether it’s okay they might not be going after the BigTime star because maybe that’s the summer but it does feel like the Knicks are trending towards getting a bench player because since the OG and anob trade the

One negative I would say is definitely a lack of playmaking Off the Bench right that was Emanuel Quicky’s role and Eman quickley was thriving in that role you ship off IQ and RJ Barrett for OG anobi OG anobi fits in like a glove with that offense it gives Julius Randall and

Jayen Brunson more space to work with we’re seeing a different Julius Randall since that trade for being honest so where do you think the Knicks should go in terms of the trade market we’ve heard Bruce Brown’s name get brought up we’ve heard Jordan Clarkson Malcolm brogon

Demar D roen I mean there’s so many different names Jake if you were the Leon Rose you know organizing this Nick’s roster is there a specific player you’d really want them to bring in right now for the deadline I think they need certainly another scorer uh a guy for

That second unit I mean Jordan Clarkson would make a lot of sense I don’t think the Knicks are going to be able to pull off the deal with Danny Ang though it always feels like he’s the guy standing in the way asking for the Sun the moon

The stars the whole thing you know I’ve heard the name Alec Burks and I think he’s a guy that as we saw you know could be you know you know a quick bucket getter he has obviously experience playing uh with Tom tho and this Knicks

Team from a few years back so I wouldn’t hate that as kind of like a secondary option if you can’t get some of the bigger names the Knicks have been connected to I I just think the Knicks need to do something but they also got to be realistic and realize hey if the

Move’s not there Don’t Force It because it does feel like for the first time in a while when we talk about the Knicks actually getting that star to come play with the core they have currently in place it feels like this is the closest they’ve ever been to that actually

Happening and not being a pipe dream so you want to be smart with your resource allocation you don’t want to blow your load so to speak now when you know long term you don’t have to wait that much longer to maybe add that star in the off

Hart last year Dante d was a free agent signing this Summer that fits in like a glove and I think Jake my favorite thing about Leon Rose he’s bringing in the right guys for Tom diido and Tom diido system is established it’s a culture it’s a standard and I feel like Leon

Rose has been playing chess all along seeing this long-term vision and just like setting up his next move and I feel like we are seeing something special I don’t want to get over the top but I really do think we are another piece or two away from being a champ Championship

Contender so with that you know topic being talked about let’s go back into last night’s game in particular just to break down what the current state is of this New York Knicks team because I feel like the fact that we were on the road in a game where it felt like a home

Court and that’s not new I feel like every year it’s the same thing but the Knicks are really really good this season so it felt even more emphatic but the fact that they were losing pretty much the entire game and maau bridges was having a great great game we were

Out Isaiah hardenstein you know Jericho Sims is getting a lot of minutes precious saua is playing at the end of the game and the fact they will their way back I mean let’s talk about that sequence I mean you know what sequence I’m talking about I mean you talk about

New York the Knicks who have been a laughing stock for most of our lives are now right up there with any team in New York as far as the best well run operation that’s currently going Leon’s made a lot of smart trades he’s been patient as you brought up and eloquently

Stated he has found guys that fit the coach’s system there’s great symmetry uh you know symmetry I should say between GM and Coach it’s like everything you want right now like it’s uh it it’s exciting and that play where you have just tremendous defense by auua and OG

And Josh Hart these are all guys that were brought in by the GM for the coach and obviously we the Nick got a lot of heat when they signed Randall in that free agent Hall when it was supposed to be Durant and Kyrie and look at Randall’s growth and development under

Tom thibo and Brunson is probably the best bargain in the NBA right now forget talking about him as an All-Star I mean the guy’s a superstar who continues to get better and better that one play kind of encapsulates everything about this Knicks team that as you brought up has

Love I mean I I get it there are some things about Randall that can drive you crazy but like what he’s been doing this season and not even just this season his entire career with the Knicks and his just like trajectory when he first signed here that offseason where we’re

Supposed to get Durant supposed to get Kyrie like you just mentioned and to see where he’s at today he’s been an All-Star multiple times he’s been an allpro multiple times most improved player I mean what’s your overall assessment of Julius Randle are you coming to like appreciate him or are you

Still on that bandwagon of some mix fans like I don’t care what he does trade him away for someone better well I think You’ got to appreciate him especially because how many guys have had like the kind of seas saw career that he’s had and have been able to come out on the

Other side of it like the one guy I could think of that got booed and was able to respond and end up still being an All-Star level player again is like Edwin Diaz with a Mets like it’s very hard to go through what Randall’s been through and really go through it twice

Right his first year in New York he didn’t play well the team was terrible second year in the covid year he takes him to the playoffs has a bad playoff performance then the next year he has the thumbs down thing with the fans and people are saying get rid of this guy

Following year he comes back has a great season but he’s playing through an injury and he’s not good in the playoffs people are saying get rid of the guy and here the Knicks are being patient keeping him and look what he’s been able to do this year with Jaylen Brunson

Playing out of his mind next to him so he he’s an interesting guy to discuss because there’s Arguments for both sides I think he should be appreciated because doing what he’s doing in New York is not easy and I also think when you look at his career you got to understand he he’s

Been asked to be a one at times that’s not him I think he’s a two he’s a three they have the one now in Brunson so I don’t think you just like trade rle like you’re making yourself a worse team unless you tell me who you’re getting

Back that all being said I understand the Nick faner looks at Randall and says look he’s been great in the regular season we got to now see him come through in the playoffs Jaylen Brunson last year was unbelievable in the playoffs last year you can make the case

The reason why the Knicks couldn’t get past Miami was Randall and RJ Barrett were really really bad in games four five and six of that series Richie so I I think for Randy the next step is going to be one can he be healthy in the playoffs because last year he wasn’t and

Moves that Leon Rose has made I mean he’s been on a on an absolute like Bender as far as like free agent signings and really smart trades I mean the record last year after they got Hart was phenomenal and you know we gave the stat earlier 10- two since the OG trade

I mean Devon chenzo I think you gotta be thrilled from what you’ve seen so far if you’re a Knicks fan and then Duce McBride is an interesting player because he got an extension right after the trade went down and that extension kind of locked him up not only for the next

Three years but like he’s not eligible to be traded like right now he could be traded down the line but he’s not eligible to be traded I’m pretty sure at the deadline and that tells you all he need to know about the Nick’s you know thought process in dece big bride now

I’ve been very impressed with Deuce but I still believe they need to get an additional piece Off the Bench I don’t think he’s ready to go to be a primary ball handler and a scorer like an Emanuel quickley but when he was in there for Brunson when he was down with

The calf injury he put up a career high 19 then another career higher in 20 I feel like his offense has taken a step in the right direction his defense has showed signs as well what’s your your overall assessment been of the development of a guy like Duce McBride

We will be trading whoever we draft and develop and I think Grimes is that next met up to be traded what’s your overall thoughts of those three players in particular yeah look I I I I think Duce has unta potential and it was a smart

Idea to get him kind of locked in at a very low price you know given what his production could be I’ve curious how much better he could be with more playing time uh do they also maybe see him as someone who could play off the ball if they were to add another point

Guard because Duce could shoot like I think he’s a guy who could maybe play the two in certain lineups so I think that’s something the Knicks could consider as well I’ve liked what I’ve seen from him Grimes I had a lot of experience watching when I lived in

Houston for five years Richie because he played at University of Houston was one of the best players on some of those Houston Cougar teams under Kelvin Samson so you knew you were getting a tough-minded three and D player and you know it’s been up and

Down at times this year for GRS but I still think he’s a quality player it does feel like he could be used in the next kind of trade so you don’t get too attached as you brought up but I I I like what we have seen from him as well

The the Knicks have done a really nice job of drafting and developing like what a concept and uh that’s kind of what you’re looking for a a team that is not going to have like really high picks like can you hit on late ones can you find some diamond in the rough second

Round picks and a lot of this roster has been built through that and I think that’s another encouraging sign that you feel like you have competency in your front office for the first time in years and let’s not forget this Nick team was built through the draft and it doesn’t

Feel like that anymore because we’re trading away the players that we drafted and developed but still I mean obviously we’re winning in free agency both Julius Randle and Jaylen Brun are free agent acquisitions who are our two stars right now you’re bring in D chenzo free agency let’s not forget about Isaiah

Hardenstein who he brought in free agency and Mitchell Robinson I feel like everyone’s forgetting about obvious reasons he’s hurt but like I feel like people are forgetting about what Mitch was doing Jake Mitchell Robinson was having a breakout career year one of the best big defensive offensive rebounding

Big men in the league before he went down with an injury and there’s optimism that he could be back for the postseason what’s your level of optimism in that actually happening because the Knicks were denied that that exemption from the NBA which makes you believe Mitch could return so what’s your level of

Excitement with the potential of Mitchell Robinson and Isaiah hardenstein both healthy ready to go for the postseason you know I think given the fact that they were denied by the NBA for the exemption I would I would think that’s a good sign right like I’m not a

Doctor I guess I’ll pretend to be one on your YouTube show here Richie uh I would think that’s a positive uh you know indication that he’s going to be back I mean Stein you want to get him back as quickly as possible we’re not talking about something that is going to require

Surgery it sounds like they were being you know precautious with him you know last night so I expect him to be back relatively soon and by the way shout out to Jericho Sims for what he did last night great energy ton of blocks really good effort so uh he’s a nice find to

Have him but it does kind of feel like if they’re not gonna get the exemption they think Mitch is Gonna Come Back at some point which would be great but I’ll say this with the way hartenstein is played I I feel like Mitch should come

Off the bench when he comes back kind of let him get settled back in get his cardio back because I can’t say enough about iHeart that has been an unbelievable free agent signing that’s a guy you got to keep if you’re the Knicks I mean he’s gonna get a lot more money

Than he’s currently making but he’s a high energy defensive minded tough-nosed guy you gotta keep him he’s been great he’s a free agent this year he might get paid in the open market hopefully by the New York Knicks and I think I I don’t want to take any credit away from

Hardenstein but it’s hard not to go back to coach Tibido and his staff of the development of these players and just like when hardenstein first came here last year Jake he wasn’t playing good and I remember Nicks fans were frustrated with him early last year his

First few weeks as a Nick like okay hardenstein Off the Bench like you’re not good like I remember people getting frustrated with him but over time now you’re seeing what hardenstein can be as a full-time starter and I feel like hardenstein is good enough to be a

Full-time starter on another team so the Knicks do have a big decision to make this summer do they bring back hardenstein do they make a move with Mitchell Robinson because they’ll be really really hard to keep both of them this year and I think um our boy Isaiah

Hardenstein deserves a lot a lot of credit for what he’s been doing this year absolutely playing tremendous ball and we did miss him last night but a big shout out to Jericho Sims and even precious aoua for filling in at that big man spot now to finish off the show Jake

I wanted to get your thoughts of your overall expectations for the rest of the season and like what would be a win this year right like how far do this Knick’s team have to go in the playoffs in order for to feel comfortable we go to the

Second round last year and we lose to the Miami Heat right do we need to go back to the second round is it Easter Conference finals are you going all the way for the championship or bus like where are you where’s your mind at with this Nicks team Jake in terms of you

Know where you want where your expectations is rather that’s realistic of where this Nicks team could go in the Eastern Conference playoffs well isn’t it funny when you look at the standings as the Knicks are playing some of their best ball right now all the other teams

In the East are also on you know significant winning streaks right Cleveland’s won eight in a row the Sixers have won six straight Milwaukee even with firing their coaches won two in a row Celtics have won two in a row and they’re seven and three in their

Last 10 so look the the the the East is really really good and I think if in the right matchup the Knicks could definitely get to an Eastern Conference Final I think the minimum they have to do is win a Playoff round again I think

The easiest way to do that is to get at least the four of the five seed once again so you’re in that four five matchup in round one if you can get the four that’d be great to get home court but I don’t think that is totally

Necessary as we saw last year when they were the five and they beat the four in the Cleveland Cavaliers but look to me it’s it’s all matchup oriented and it’s also going to be contingent on what the Knicks potentially do by the trade deadline that all being said I think

Getting back to the second round at the minimum should be the goal and why not dream big for an Eastern Conference Finals but the way Randall is playing right now that carries over to the playoffs you know what you have in Brunson the rest of this team and

Continues to play like they’re playing why not you got coach with big game experience you got a core that has played together now for several years and some of the pieces they’ve added will will have like the entire rest of the way the gel with the core that’s

Already in place I think in the right matchup this team could definitely get to an Eastern Conference Finals and let’s just stop the narrative like we need a star to help because we have two stars on this niick team Jake okay one of them I’ll argue like you said earlier

Is a superstar Jaylen Brunson last year showed up and I always say Stars Are Born in the playoffs and Jaylen Brunson proved last year that he can step up in the big game and we already talked about Randle where he needs to wake up in the postseason and I think jayen Brunson is

Playing at a level where he can literally take over entire Series and win us single-handedly and now we don’t need to rely on that because of the supplement role players around him of the role players of Dante D venzo Josh Hart of course ogan and Obi camping out

In the corner knocking down Big Shots playing his defense and of course Julius Randall and I think the pedigree of this Knicks team and the togetherness of them and the OG anobi Edition we could beat anybody and I don’t want to get ahead of myself Jake I don’t want to say we’re

Goingon to go all the way to win the championship this year but it really does feel like this niick team can compete with anybody with the addition of an ogi because what did the nck what did this Nick team miss a guy that can shut down that next team’s best player I

Cannot wait to see what we look like against the Boston Celtics for example with this trade because OG is going to be matched up on Tatum we never had a Tatum you know we never had a Tatum stopper if you will and now we do and

His name is OG an anobi and now with the Philadelphia 76ers we saw what we did to them we beat them by like 35 Plus earlier in the year and of course the Milwaukee Bucks are a team that’s had our number but we did beat them on

Christmas so those are the two you know the three teams in the Eastern Conference that we’re looking up at say how can we beat them and then now you look at the Eastern Conference standings we might be on our way to a round one rematch against the Cleveland Cavaliers
