As per the new CBA, Joel Embiis cannot miss more than 6 games for the rest of the season. Each game he does play, he needs to be on the floor for 20 minutes as per the new CBA so it’s not like he can start games and then sub himself out asap.

Embiid actually does get injured but the pattern of his misses seem to be games on the road and against top teams.
Do ya’ll think he’ll grind it out to reach the minimum?

No. Your favorite player can win it. Rejoice and stop spreading hate
He kinda owes us a 1v1 game with Jokic.
You guys will hate no matter what. If he played last game and dropped 50, it’s just the regular season and he has to do it in the playoffs. If he opts to maintain his health in preparation of the playoffs, you will similarly crucify him. He cannot win.
It doesn’t matter anymore his stunt in Denver is 100% gonna affect voters opinion.
I wonder how much the Vegas odds changed in the last week
Wow I’m sure you will get this post upvoted into thousands. What a smart and brave move by such a smart guy!!!!
Embiid suffers from the same issue that Trae Young does on here: his contemporary is loved here.
Either Jokic & Luka are in probably 95% of this forums top 3 favorite players.
38 Games left, gonna be close
He inly cares about being healthy for the playoffs
OP: **(active in these communities)** r/denvernuggets
The math checks out.
I mean I rather he stay healthy for playoffs than force himself to not miss any more games
I think the rule is fair, cause you need to play in the season to be the mvp for it.
He is a dominant as someone can be for a center but having 10 less games than other candidates and those 10 games are vs elite teams should be accounted for his case.
He has amazing stats across the board but on a smaller game sample size and versus weaker teams that at most will be in play ins.
He’s lucky they don’t play Denver 7 more times this regular season
How many against Denver though. The will be sure misses
Only way he doesnt if he sustains a serious injury imo. Playing 32/38 shouldnt be too hard esp w all star break coming up.
He misses road games againt tough teams because those are the toughest matchups and it would be dumb to play them while already injured.
Some of those may require him to play over 35 minutes so i doubt the Sixers medical staff would agree to him playing those games when he needs to recover.
Look whether he plays those or not isnt really important. Its if he is healthy for the playoffs.
If that knee injury is serious enough that he misses this b2b I really doubt he’ll reach the minimum.
Imagine how much better other star players per game numbers would be if they took off more time. The games clause levels the playing field. Regardless, I think totals are more meaningful than per game numbers and should be weighted more heavily in end of season awards. The games missed limit is a good step towards making the criteria more clear.
Nothing Joel Embiid does in the regular season matters because he needs to perform in the playoffs.
He also only stat pads and plays against bad teams so he can win the MVP.
He also won’t win the MVP because he ducks bad teams and keeps missing games on purpose.
I think the narrative is kinda dumb that he’s intentionally ducking good teams on the road. Embiid is still injury prone tho, so if he doesn’t meet the minimum games requirement it’d be because he’s hurt.
65 games isn’t even that much. When the fans pay to watch you wheather with subscription or tickets there should be some incentive for players to show up. It’s not like they don’t get paid if they don’t play so there’s got to be some give and take. And if you’re not showing up but someone else is it’s only fair for the other person to receive the award.
I’m confused, is he actually ducking big match ups or is it just a haters talking point?
No.
Are the sixers willing to throw some games by letting embiid sit on the floor for 20 minutes a couple times?
you fuckers need to seek help lol. This is next level virginity
Nuggets fans are obsessed
He is 100% gonna do the tip and then check out for a game.
Nuggets are 1-3 against the rockets this season… sch means everything though LMFAO.
You would think 76ers were the ones that won the chip last year. I’ve never seen a fan base this salty about anything it’s absolutely hilarious.
The real problem is that the NBA is the only league where we look at per game averages rather than season totals. Lamar Jackson would never win mvp if he missed 4-5 games. If you look at total, Embiid is 5th in pts and 18th in rebounds.
Can we please just stop talking about this dude? He won’t be playing in the conference finals of the NBA finals, so what’s the point of even speaking about him honestly lol let the man get his little awards
He got the pitty mvp last year so I don’t think he cares about it as much.
No one really cares at this point, including him.
And please stop with the whole “ducking” crap. The top-team-road games he’s missed this season? Three, and we know the reasons for all three.
1. 11/22/23 @ MIN – 2nd half of a B2B road trip where he played his most minutes this season in an OT game. I don’t remember if he aggravated his knee that game or not, but I do remember he wasn’t dogging it.
2. 12/1/23 @ BOS – Second game out with an illness. Check BBref for his stool consistency.
3. 1/27/24 @ DEN – Banged his surgically repaired knee the previous game pretty bad, it swelled up afterwards, not for the first time. He was still a GTD then, and he’ll be a GTD until the trainers are OK with how he handles putting weight on it and turning.
None of the games were “ducked” because he didn’t want to play a good team on the road. He misses the same percentage of games against good teams as bad; he misses road games more because all players miss road games more (they tend to stay home and rest/recover, also road trips allow for less recovery time in general, especially B2Bs).
The guy just gets injured a lot, and gets sick like everyone else. We just perceive it differently because of our anticipation and bias. Missed games against top-4 in each conference = 3/11 total games = 27.3%. 8 top teams/30 total teams = 26.67%. Gasp.
He’s a bum so it doesn’t matter. Bums can’t be mvp
I’m glad this new rule is a thing because how can you be the MVP of your team if you missed significant games?
Shouldn’t r/NBA be glad when Embiid sits. At least then the Sixers aren’t unwatchable with Embiid on the floor.
