[Charania] The NBA will investigate Joel Embiid’s sudden absence against the Denver Nuggets.

Shams Charania said this on “[Run It Back](https://x.com/runitbackfdtv?s=21)” on FanDuel TV.

He said the NBA will look into Joel Embiid’s sudden absence against the Denver Nuggets. He went on to say that it was extra suspicious because he wasn’t on the injury report prior to the game and the scratch was made less than 10 minutes before tip-off.

Just saved money on the Doc contract. Bring on the fines

  2. Mrmdn333

Lavine can miss a month because the Bulls want to trade him, but a guy who banged knees a game before needs to be investigated. Classic Silver 🐍

  3. Nothing is gonna happen. Everyone saw him get injured against Indiana.

  4. ABagOfPopcorn

It’s on the medical team if anything

  5. Different-Mouse-8722

As an Adam Silver fanatic this news is cathartic. I thought he was starting to like the 76ers…

  6. Thegrandmistressofoz

Adam Silver might be stupid as hell if he actually does this. Embiid pretty clearly got injured against Indy, and the team probably just decided it wasn’t worth it since Tyrese only got ruled out a few hours before the game too. Probably was seeing how he felt in the opening shootaround

  7. ThereAreDozensOfUs

None of this matters as long as Joel is healthy

  8. FullPretzelAlchemist

I’m sure Joel was injured, I agree that it should be investigated though just in terms of how his status was reported. He should have been listed as questionable or doubtful.

I think that’s a valid criticism and I would have been livid if I paid elevated ticket prices for that. I’m sure ticket prices would have been much lower for that game if he had been listed doubtful.

End of the day maybe there’s some follow up from the league under the notion of supporting the fans, which would be a good thing, but we all know it’s just related to sports bets if anything happens

  9. We’re somehow gonna lose a 2nd round pick instead of being fined.

  10. WallOld615

Adam Silver and the league as a whole can suck a fat wiener.

  11. IKillZombies4Cash

The only reason any of this matters is because the NBA is affiliated with gambling now.

the sixers are idiots. the NBA has made it clear that they are pushing teams to be more transparent on injury reports. the sixers arent the only ones running risks here, but its so easily avoidable.

embiid should be listed as “questionable” on every single injury report for the rest of the season. then if he doesnt play, its fine, he was listed as questionable. any guy with any hint of an injury or ailment should be on the injury report. i think the heat have been doing this since they got in trouble, they list 7 or 8 guys on the injury report every day

  13. GOAT_SAMMY_DALEMBERT

It was dumb to not have him on the injury report.

  14. ChipKellysShoeStore

“I tweaked my knee during the shootout and didn’t want to risk an injury”

    Case closed.

  15. lilbismyfriend21

The NBA should investigate Shams relationship with FanDuel

  16. PessimistSixersFan

Should’ve just had him on the injury report as probable/questionable 🤷‍♂️

  17. TeachMeHowToTech

The NBA is always so quick to investigate the 76ers. This is so annoying

  18. IcyAd964

I don’t ever want to play or be connected to the nuggets ever again. Whether it’s months or a decade from now. Annoying ass fans and stans

  19. NoDamnIdea0324

I don’t expect anything to come of this. It is weird to me though that the Sixers didn’t put him on the injury report after Indiana. Like we’ve all seen this a bunch before. Embiid tweaks something in a game, finishes the game and seems fine but misses the next 1-3 games because it’s sore. Think we all figured it’d be possible he’d miss the Denver game after that Indiana game but they didn’t do anything until just before game time. It’s like they forgot to put him on it and then he goes thru walkthroughs, isn’t up for it, they look at Maxey and Harris already out and just say screw it. A weird look that is hard to defend if I look at it from another fanbase’s perspective.

  20. jloops03

Makes sense, Denver was unable to properly prepare for the Bball Paul game.

  21. ProcessTrust856

This is so dumb. So now people can’t get injured or have injuries become more worrisome without advance notice?

  22. McBrungus

The NBA should investigate licking my balls

  23. AllMyJalens7

    Deserved honestly. Fuck Silver.

    Go Sixers.

  24. Calcutta637

Like he’s fucking injured are you kidding me? What is this WWE bullshit

  25. No_Statistician9289

Screw the bettors that’s why it’s called gambling

  26. Icy_Comparison_5920

The sixers and embiid were wrong for that tbh he should’ve played and if he was injured he should’ve been on the report but for him to go out and warm up and then all of a sudden he’s out that’s wrong

  27. International-Dish95

They were treated to mid-range masterclass put on by Paul Reed with a 30 & 13 double-double on 67% shooting, if anything the league should be thanking embiid and his sore knee.

  28. economist_

Just report him as questionable on every report going forward. It’s not wrong.

Nuggets just reported their entire starting five as questionable in their away game. No problem.

  29. TruckinInStyle

More like the NBA should be investigated for antitrust practices same with many of these global conglomerates i.e livenation/ticketmaster. If players were willing to use their player’s union to continue to do this it would result in enough financial losses in which these people doing the rigging would no longer find it financially viable. Similar to the lockout season where they took a stand to negotiate contracts.

  30. ASAPHarambe

hes ducking hard atp ngl anyone that thinks otherwise is coping

  31. DraculasNutsack

Investigate all you want you goofy vampire fuck.

  32. sirgrotius

Timing sucks yes but historically aren’t we all inured to Joel being injured and missing time? He strikes me as wanting to play through discomfort but he’s just a really big guy with some injury history and probably a bit too many pounds on his particular frame tbh.
