Julius RANDLE INJURY UPDATE! What Should KNICKS Do? | Knicks vs Hornets Postgame Recap

Hello and welcome into the next verse my name is George and if this is your first time here or you’ve been here before but haven’t subscribed yet please do so and uh I want to thank all the 8,000 subscribers we crossed the 8,000 Mark uh over the weekend fantastic FC uh I I’m

Humbled uh by everyone’s support uh it’s been fabulous uh you know we’re doing this together uh that’s why your comments are so important so please drop your comments and hit the thumbs up button and share this video uh would I would love to hit 10,000 get into five

Digits uh this is the time to do it the Knicks are rolling they just won their seventh game in a row and they did it without Julius Randall they did it without OG anobi they did did it with Jaylen Brunson the Villanova guys and the rest of the squad and they went down

To Charlotte and just took over North Carolina they were chanting MVP while Brunson was at the free throw line the crowd was chenting dece deuce and Duce had a good game it was a really good game overall the first half was a little close uh it was only a three-point lead

Uh for the Knicks it was low scoring I think it was like 46 43 but they exploded that third quarter and they carried it into the fourth uh there was a moment there where they let the lead kind of dwindle down I think Charlotte may have gotten it down to 14 points but

There was no way that we were going to lose that game at that point uh and then actually Brunson did come back in and Brunson what a game that he have let’s get to it but first thing I want to talk about uh well we’re going to talk about

The game obviously going to recap the game but uh I tell you if you see right there Randall injury update we’re going to talk about that and what the Knicks should do how the Knicks should respond to this injury and what does the injury mean uh we’ve gotten some reports some

Of them are a little too vague for my taste so we’re going to get into that so we’re going to touch and I got highlights as well let’s get into it here we go 11392 uh the Knicks ended up winning by 21 they were up by 29 at one point and

Really this guy 32 points another 30 plus game for Mr Brunson seven assists four rebound of course picked up at least one charge call that I that I saw maybe a couple of them he’s leading the league in drawing charges I believe he’s at least he’s

Definitely up there one of the top two or three fantastic I mean this guy definitely definitely is if he continues this the MVP chants are going to get louder and louder and louder that’s how he’s playing and on Thursday we find out who are going to be the reserves for the

All-Star game now we as a fan base dropped the ball just going to say we dropped the ball we didn’t vote enough for them the coaches and the media had him as a starter but the fans dropped the ball now maybe we have too much to

Do in our lives our daily lives to vote every single day which I think is pretty ridiculous you have to vote every single day you know I mean people have lives people have to do so that aside let’s hope he’ll definitely be a reserve uh he he deserves it he

Deser he deserves to be a starter hope next season we all get it under control and get this guy to be a starter all right next thing right here this is the Knicks have won seven straight and this is what brunson’s been doing during that period averaging 32 points a game 4.1

Rebounds per game 6.7 almost seven assists per game on 54.4% field goal shooting shout out to SNY for putting this out beautiful this guy this is what I’m saying this this is MVP level right there and did I tell you he’s Unstoppable you know it you guys watch him he’s literally Unstoppable

Right now which brings me to the major Point here we cannot waste what this man is doing this season I don’t want to wait till next year I don’t want to like oh well you know we got the summer then we get whatever you know Sixers fail and

And bew no no no no no no we’re here right now and we have a trade deadline coming in about N9 days 11 days 10 days we got to do something because reports came out about Randall today and I’m going to get to that right now Adrien W Janowski tweeted out and he

Wrote a story about it but basically the gist of it is Nicks Julius Randall expected to be out weeks not months with dislocated shoulder that is good news good news however they didn’t reveal what kind of injury it was was it an anterior dislocation a posterior dislocation and inferior dislocation

They didn’t say anything about that uh they didn’t say if the uh the laam which is the soft tissue in the shoulder if there’s a tear and most likely when it pops out sometimes there’s tear actually most the time there’s a tear now there

Might be a degree of of uh how much of a tear maybe it’s very very slight so I have a lot of questions about that and I think we’re going to get some answers coming in the next few days hopefully but then W went on with Alan

Han and uh Han tweeted this out actually uh NBA New York New York basketball uh shout out to them they you know retweeted this thing uh not retweet it’s like whatever they call this thing aggregated uh W on Randall quote the hope is he can avoid surgery at at least during the

Season it turns out Julius declines SL delays surgery so he can continue this Nick’s run it would surprise no one who knows his commitment to being available especially for important games okay now those aren’t W’s words underneath that’s New York basketball underneath which is interesting because it does seem like it was julius’s

Decision to not get surgery he probably got a second and a third opinion uh which is why we didn’t get any information yesterday so if you got a second and third opinion they probably said you know kind of like what Steph’s situation was last year where he hurt

His uh uh his shoulder and he missed about 11 games uh and then some other doctors who tweeted out about this which I did uh cover in the previous recap when we found out about the injury uh well they said yeah you miss about you know four weeks with this kind of an

Injury if you don’t need surgery the problem is randle’s style of play is bang bang bang with that right shoulder cuz he’s a lefty so he’s dribbling with the left he likes to go right to left through the key and you know spin back around and he bumps with that right

Shoulder and then the right should he uses the right shoulder to protect the ball when he’s going up you know with force and then people are swiping down on that ball that’s going to be pressure on that right shoulder so this thing about weeks I’ve been thinking about it

And reading about it and I have a feeling it’s going to be longer than the four weeks that uh you know Steph was out you know he missed like 30 days last time or even I believe uh uh Dwayne Dwayne Wade had a similar injury and he

Also missed a similar amount of time about 30 I think it was like four or five weeks for him however Randall’s style of play is much more body much more body contact much more impact on his shoulders so if there is if he’s going to play through pain which it

Seems like that’s the idea if he’s going to play through pain he’s going to he’s going to heal as much as he can and get ready so he’s available to play but if he’s playing through pain that’s going to compromise his ability to be impactful on the court I would imagine

So if the Knicks are smart they tap they tack on an additional at least at least one week I would say two more weeks beyond the point that he feels good where if his shoulder can move without pain I would tack on an additional two weeks after that to just ensure that

When he comes back he can be himself cuz we we’ve seen what he’s like when he’s compromised the beginning of the Season you know the ankle surgery that he had over the summer he wasn’t quite quite ready and I think he might have been favoring or whatever he just it was in

His head and then last year remember he hurt his ankle they well the ankle pre pre-surgery which is the reason he had the surgery last year he missed the last five games of the season and he wasn’t quite himself in the postseason it compromised his ability to perform at

The level that we need him to at the level that he’s used to performing in the regular season so all that in mind then this happened today ogbi didn’t play because apparently he uh aggravated his uh elbow during warm-up I think that’s uh that’s BS because you can see

There in the Miami game he was already icing that right elbow OG was spotted icing that right elbow during the Miami Heat game a costly win for the Knicks when you factor in Julius randle’s injury who I expect will miss about 6 to8 weeks that’s my prediction let’s

Hope OG’s elbow only needs a few days of rest and treatment now tomorrow the next play again so in terms of a back toback I think it was a smart move move to rest him tonight and hopefully he will be able to go tomorrow he was out there in

Shooting uh warming up so it’s not like uh he couldn’t warm up but maybe the Knicks just played a little extra cautious uh because they knew they were going to have this back toback and to be honest Charlotte without lamelo ball was going to be a weak opponent and it

Turned out to be actually true uh so if we look at this 6 eight weeks let’s see let’s go ahead here’s where we are with the standings right now I don’t know how accurate this is at the up to date because I think the Cavs did win uh Miami

Lost uh so yeah I think the Bucks are they were the Bucks were losing I can’t remember exactly what’s happening but when I when I when I got the screen grab at the time the standings were in flux but the Knicks were not the Knicks got their 30th win today beautiful they are

13 games over 500 they have a 638 winning percentage they are only a half game back from third place so and really only two and a half games back from uh Milwaukee which is in second place and you never know look what we’re facing with

So how do we stay where we are and even in rise up because we don’t want to be in fourth because fourth means we play Boston in the second round we want to try and avoid Boston in that second round we want to meet Boston in the Eastern Conference Finals so that means

We have to be either third second uh third or second let’s just put it that way third or second to get there this is what’s happening here so today we played we beat Charlotte these are the games that Randall is expected to miss which is up until the All-Star

Game and then maybe the two games after the All-Star Game just to ensure that he’s okay but that would be only about four weeks only four weeks maybe about five weeks there that’s about five weeks which uh I don’t think that’s the way to go with this with his injury and

Then when you look at the remaining games right there if you look at six weeks puts them at about March 8th let’s say return March 10th uh or maybe yeah March 10th for the second game versus the Sixers cuz you want I mean we we’d

Love to have him back in time for that so the next play we do play the Sixers on February 22nd that most likely Randall will not be back in time for that so we’re going to miss him there and that’s going to be in in Philly it’s

Going to be a tough one and then we have right after that we have Boston so we we got some tough games coming up after we get through this uh I mean you Indiana’s playing very well so they’re going to be challenging uh Dallas we did lose to uh

The Lakers you know they’re feeling good right now so the next you know slate of games are not they’re not going to be easy but uh they’re definitely winnable but they’re not going to be easy however when it comes down to the bottom two those are going to be very very

Challenging without Randall or without significant additions to the roster that can help fill the holes and help just provide minutes on the floor positive minutes but that’s just best case scenario another I mean to me the best case scenario is that he returns this season at all so let’s just put it that

Way and I’m really happy to hear that he’s doing well you know that that not that he’s doing well but that he’s going to be he’s making an effort to come back this season I’m really happy because Sergey would have ended his chances this year the thing is you don’t want to

Bring Julius Randall back and waste his rehab and put have him play through pain if we have gone through a losing streak so let’s say you know uh we drop one of the two Indiana games uh let’s say you know we drop uh a couple of these other

Games the Lakers uh well the Lakers going to be at MSG G so we should be able to do it but you know we have a road trip here uh beginning February 12th uh and 14th uh right up to the all start break so Houston and Orlando you

Know Road games you know they’re challenging uh but they’re not backto backs thankfully but there’s a chance we don’t you know pick up those two we lose one of those two we lose one of the Indiana games the Dallas game is going to be interesting so we could suffer

Maybe up to four losses before we even get to the post all Allstar games which begins with the Sixers and let’s say we’re just you know lucky enough and we we split one of those two games so that’s five losses right there then we get Detroit Detroit we should take care

Of business though Detroit uh you know they beat OKC I think not that long ago uh then there’s New Orleans uh then we have Golden State uh who I’m sure by then they would have made some trades and they would have bolstered their roster to make another run uh then we

Have the Cavs uh who are you know we we we’re we’re one of the hottest teams we are the hottest team in the NBA except for the Cavs Cavs are even hotter than us right now which is amazing to think what what they’re doing without Garland

And Moy and who knows by then Garland and Moy one of those two might be back so then uh you know then we have the Hawks Orlando again then we have the backto backs with the Sixers but they’re both at MSG that’s where I would love

Randall to be back in time for now the problem with him is that he’s always a little Rusty uh when he comes back uh so it would be nice to be able to get him a couple of games before that maybe Atlanta and Orlando you know the home

Game’s there but we’ll see but there’s a possibility that he misses even more time and it goes all the way through March 23rd so at that point our 13 games over 500 might be we if if we’re lucky to stay you know play 500 ball from now until then then you

Know maybe we pick maybe just above 500 great we keep padding on to it however the way Cleveland has been playing actually so this yeah the way Cleveland’s been playing the way the Pacers are playing you know they’re going to get Halbert halberton back Orlando has struggled but maybe you know

Now they finally got France Vagner they went through some mid-season lows so they’re not going to be easy Miami is going to be looking to make another trade another move to bolster their uh postseason run uh and then we can you know we can ignore the rest but so

There’s no gu and then Atlanta Atlanta wants to do something so us staying up in the to even get up to third or second we may drop down we may end up like seventh or eighth which is the playin we don’t want that why bring Julius Randall

Back and have him suffer through pain where the best we end up is the seventh seed that’s not logical to me so that means Lon has to make a trade to bring another person in to help provide the type of game that Randall gave us now there’s not you’re not going to find

Anybody like that obviously but at least to have some kind of a simulation of it to eat some minutes up some so that we’re not negative minutes we’re not constantly losing those minutes when he’s on the court we need somebody definitely and we already needed somebody to handle the ball to run the

Offense for the second unit to begin with now Duce has been doing great offensively but he still struggles as actually initiating the offense and running the offense himself though I love how he’s been shooting I love he’s actually been a better two guard right now but he’s a great point of attack

Defender as well so maybe we could survive without that guy but I’d rather not I’d rather we make some moves let’s use some of those draft picks we use some second round picks we got 48’s contract uh let’s make some moves let’s make something happen let’s solidify

This roster so that we don’t slip down the standings while Randall is getting better and healing enough so that he can play and be his Randall self all right those are my thoughts about the whole Randall situation now let’s get into this game let’s get into it here we go

Let’s uh go to the highlights here we go uh the game as I mentioned the game got off to a slightly little rocky start but the Knicks ended up taking over the lead 10 to nine uh sorry if my voice is kind of all over the place right

Now uh I see that was a lot a big mouthful that before uh where did this go I’m looking for here we go here we go uh so yeah the first quarter like I mentioned uh was kind of anemic offensively uh the Knicks uh we put up

26 points uh they put up 25 uh but uh Dante dienzo he was the high scorer in the first quarter 10 points for him and ran and uh Brunson came up with with eight points but didn’t hit any three-pointers the Knicks only were two of 11 from the three-point line in that

First quarter which is why the they allowed the Charlotte Hornets to hang around uh they shot only 18.2% from that and but the beautiful thing is they protected the ball they only committed one turnover in that first quarter and then Brunson did some moves like this

Look at that play I love that play by Dante beautiful Dante didn’t get fouled he put his arms up but he didn’t get fouled there uh Sims look at him boom beautiful beautiful uh very happy with the way Sims played today uh that was only bucket in that first quarter now

Here we are in the second quarter now the second quarter was uh kind of a similar story uh the Knicks could only score 20 points in that second quarter however their defense was good enough to keep the Charlotte down to 18 points they Charlotte was held under 18 under 20 points themselves they

Only shot 34.8% overall from the field uh and didn’t go to the free throw line at all the Knicks went four times hit all four uh but the Knicks did commit three turnovers in that second quarter and Charlotte committed only two so it was still pretty they protected the ball

Overall they finished the first half with just committing four turnovers which I’ll take that any day now the re rebounding was pretty even 12 AP piece uh not that many assists obviously because when teams aren’t scoring the Nicks the Knicks shot two of 10 in that second quarter from the three-point line

So we had a pretty anemic first half in terms of shooting uh 40.9% overall shot 19% from the three-point line uh but picked up 25 rebounds got 11 assists which is nothing exciting uh but again that’s due to the fact that we weren’t hitting buckets uh and as you

Can see here yeah 4643 and that’s how the first half ended but the third quarter began and then it just look at that beautiful nice little pass to uh iHeart from Brunson uh Brunson finished up with four assists in at quarter and 15 points and Dante The Big Ragu his

Villain NOA partner came through with 12 points himself and Josh Hart who started in place of well however you want to look at I guess he started in place of OG and preious aoua started in place of Randall and preious had a good game himself uh in that first half he had

Actually overall for the game Pressa only he finished with nine points but he was four of six and he hit his three-point he took one three-point shot he hit that uh he got five rebounds in 32 and a half minutes would have been nice for him to gotten a few more rebounds but

Uh the rebounding was provided by joshh Hart who is the best 6 foot4 and under rebounder in the MBA beautiful he he picked up 12 rebounds himself and seven dimes for Mr Josh Hart Who flings the ball into the SK into the stands he did pick up seven assists tonight so

Excellent for him uh let’s get back to this third quarter because in the third quarter the New York Knicks lit the Charlotte Hornets up for 44 points the most points in a quarter this season I believe and held the Hornets only to 24 points how demoralizing for that to

Happen to yourselves at your home court while you’re hearing chance for MVP you’re hearing chance for Deuce you know the the the guard Off the Bench rotation guy it must be really really depressing to be a Charlotte H Hornets player right now but like I mentioned they were

Without uh Hayward lamelo ball they had traded away uh Terry roier and uh I don’t think uh Lowry is even available to play yet I know I didn’t see him at all on the on the court look at that nice nice deucey dude that was his one

Three-point attempt that he hit in that third quarter and then here’s Grimes hitting one that was his one three-point attempt Grimes in some ways was uh a bit disappointing today I was hoping with OG being out and Randall being out that we’d see like Grimes would be the one

That steps up however it was tonight it was Dante you never know tomorrow tomorrow night you know the Nicks play tomorrow night it could be Grimes who does it that’s the beauty of having a team with multiple weapons and that’s what that’s what’s great because at any

Given night Dante can give you 20 Grimes can give you 20 uh Josh Hart can give you 20 and we know Jaylen Brunson can give you 50 if you need it uh here’s another one oh yeah beautiful beautiful that was the beginning of the

Fourth and they got the lead up to uh 29 Points in the fourth quarter uh but then they kind of stagnated a bit and then Charlotte started hitting a few buckets which is you know it’s to be expected it’s to be expected there uh let’s see what else is of

Note that was really interesting here uh Dante 28 points for him six rebounds five assists Brunson I told you him he got seven assists uh Jericho Sims played 23 almost 24 minutes uh he was three for three overall seven rebounds for him very productive game and uh precious

Atua finished with nine points as I mentioned but he was a plus 21 plus 24 for Dante plus 20 for Brunson plus 15 for Josh Hart all of the starters finish in double digits plus and plus minus beautiful beautiful and here we go I mean this game look at this now that

Was a good good good play there by PJ Washington BJ Washington is an interesting player but didn’t really I don’t know he’s he’s he’s a kind of a mystery he should be better he should be better for the tools he has he finished with 16 points but he needed 19 shot

Attempts for that however Brandon Miller who I in my draft video said he should be picked number two over scoot Henderson well I feel like I gave I feel like I I I was pretty on point with that that guy is turning out to be the player

That I thought he could play he could be he’s going to be a very effective player in the NBA for a very long time uh in his 38 minutes almost 39 minutes he shot 11 of 19 that’s 58% he hit three of six of his three-point shots 50% right there

Seven rebounds three dimes to finish with 29 Points for him uh and I think he that Tide is High which he had against the Knicks before yeah that happens all right we’re back to the first quarter ah here we go all right sorry this is a long one or maybe not so sorry

Maybe it’s a good one uh so here are the stats you can see them I know I rattled them off but brunson’s 32 points is just a Marvel he really is a Marvel and look at Dante 10 of 22 overall five of 15 from the three-point line uh he you know

Wasn’t that crazy efficient 33% uh but on 15 attempts you know when the team is struggling overall from the three-point line and we’re missing uh Julius Randle and OG then D somebody had to step up and it was Dante tonight so I applaud him definitely he gets uh he’s the

Second star of the game the first star of the game is obviously Jaylen Brunson and you Josh Hart as well for his 12 rebounds and and seven assists uh let’s see here the plus minus as I rattled off before uh plus 21 forua plus 10 for har

Isaiah Harin I didn’t even mention him uh he only played about 16 minutes tonight uh but you know 10 points in 16 minutes very effective for him I’m glad he didn’t he didn’t play him too much I’m talking about thibs didn’t play him too much because we have a back toback tomorrow

And uh let’s see here oh this is the Charlotte as you can see yeah Brenda Miller 29 Points uh miles Bridges who has been heavily rumored to be traded uh he shot 50% uh but he needed 20 shot attempts to give you 21 points uh he went through the free throw line only

Twice missed both one of six from the three-point line but he did finish with a double double uh not nothing to to write home about uh here are the uh team stats you can see the Nick shot overall 52 2.4% and that really is all the second

Half I’ll tell you cuz in the second half the New York Knicks shot 65% in the second half they shot 50% from the three-point line in the second half so all that is just pure dominance in the second half and I love when teams do that that’s good teams good teams do

That they just put their foot on the opponent’s throat and suffocate them and that’s what the Knicks did today in the third quarter and in most of the fourth quarter uh let’s see anything else of note here the rebounding was about the same uh but the points in the paint the

Knicks totally dominated that they were plus 16 62 points in the paint for the Knicks over 46 for uh Charlotte the Knicks were a plus oh 16 in the points off turnovers uh they got they lit uh the Hornets up up for 25 points off of their 14 turnovers which is pretty a

Pretty outstanding uh number right there you can see the largest lead was 29 Points largest lead for the Hornets was four points and that was only in the very very beginning of the game all right wo made it through made it through well the Knicks are a very interesting team right

Now everybody’s talking about them uh the uh Vegas odds have uh basically listed them as one of the contenders to win I think I think there’s like uh 10 different ones that you can uh put money on at the moment and the Nicks are right are are in there the odds aren’t that

Great but they’re in there uh so that just shows the opinion around the uh NBA world is the Knicks what they’re doing is real this is real this is something that people need to respect and they are starting to perk uh Kendrick Perkins uh he’s you know shouting you know hyping

The Knicks up left and right and especially Brunson he even mentioned him as a MVP candidate on NBA today uh today on ESPN so the opinions The Tide is turning this is why I also think leyon can capitalize and make a TR a shrewd trade or two right now I’m not talking

About the star I’m not talking about a star but someone who can come in and give you some really effective minutes that’s what we need to help us bridge the gap between now and when Randall is ready to ready to play like himself let’s hope he can do it all right thank

Thank you for watching this again my name is George Please Subscribe hit the thumbs up button drop your comments love the comments and thank you again everybody for subscribing we’re up over 8,000 I’m I’m I’m shocked and humbled uh and it’s a lot of it is just due to the excitement

Of what the team is doing they’re I mean they’re just amazing right now uh and I just hope it continues really hope it continues and every time you’re going to hit adversity but as coach Bruce Pearl said adversity reveals character and right now tonight’s win reveals the incredible character that this team has

Beautiful they’re winners all right I’ll see you around the Nickv

  1. Philly’s getting blown out by the Trailblazers so as of tonight we should be 3rd seed. And the Bucks lost too.

  2. I agree with you George. I'd like to see the Knicks make a deal for Bogdanovich and/or Burkes for Fournier and whoever else we need to trade. I'd definitely settle for Bogdanovich alone. We could give them our 2024 1st round pick and maybe a 2nd along with Fournier

  3. If the Knicks are smart, they'll keep the status of Randle's injury unwraps as much as possible. No need to let the other teams know just how serious the injury might be, which would only lead them to upping the asking price on any potential trade we might look to make.

  4. I would just say randle will be missing 3 to 4 weeks. Even if he doesn't so we dont give any trade partners an edge!!!

  5. I’ve seen OG tape his Elbow I think since he’s arrived. Not sure about before in Toronto but I Remember saying it’s a really cool tape job. I believe it’s his type of game style, being gritty and defensive can put your arms and body in compromising positions

  6. Who is out there? Give us some names because no one is close to Randle's caliber of play available right now. I say keep Randle safe no playing this season and hope they both can come back ready next season.

  7. Listen Mr, to yourself you think if he's in pain they would have let him play if has not heal
He have to be healed before they let him play
    So stop.

  8. George I think your being a nervous nelly. It said If it turns out that Julius declined surgery "If" It didnt say he required or was told he needed surgery and it said weeks not months months meaning over a month. weeks meaning a little less than a month if there was any significant tare surgery would def be required so that being said They would not risk they're investment on Randle for a finals run that was not possible until until after the summer when we try and acquire another star.

  9. They weren’t going to pursue anyone to fill the gap that people perceive in the second unit. They have Precious. They aren’t getting anyone else unless he’s gone for the season.

It makes no sense to grab a rental to fill in just to get dumped before the playoffs. The knee jerk reaction stuff needs to stop.
