Kevin Durant: Please, no tribute video Wednesday at Barclays Center (NetsDaily)

Dude said he had more trade requests than playoff wins đź’€

I actually appreciate one of the quotes KD gave, which is mentioned in the NetsDaily article:

    >“What did I do to deserve that?” Durant said about a tribute video after Sunday’s loss.
    >
    >“Seriously, or is it because of my name? I’m just another player, man. I don’t deserve none of this extra attention, everybody looking at me when the game starts. The game is about all the players on the court. It ain’t about me. I was there for three years, four years and we didn’t accomplish anything worth being celebrated for. That’s just how I feel.”

It shows a remarkable sense of self-awareness. I’m certainly not a Durant fan anymore, but I appreciate him being so forthright and candid about his tenure with Brooklyn. He had high expectations, as did we all, and he didn’t reach them. They didn’t make it past the second round of the playoffs. The most impactful thing he did, frankly, was sign that extension to give himself trade value, which let the Nets recoup some of their losses.

My guess is there *will* be a video tribute for him, and I assume he’ll accept it graciously. He did make the team very exciting for ~~four three~~ two years, and I’ll begrudgingly admit that when times were good with him, it was great. But does he deserve one? Not really, no.

For Kyrie’s tribute video, it should just be his Media Day conference when he came in through Zoom. Have some classical music in the background.

    Would be hysterical.

Unfortunately knowing Joe tsai they probably will give a tribute video. That being said I hope fans boo. KDs lack of leadership cost us a title. There’s no reason he couldn’t have had a sit down with James harden in 2022 and got him to recommit before asking for a trade to Philly. Or sat down with kyrie and told him to chill with the antics and public drama. KD wants the praise of being a Jordan but never wants the responsibility that comes with it. And unfortunately for us as nets fans as long as the rockets own our picks the nasty taste in the mouth from that embarrassing era is going to linger around

They gave Harden one. The precident has been set. If any one of the big 3 deserves one it is KD.

I’d rather give Bruce Brown and DeAndre Jordan a tribute video congratulating them on winning a championship.
