By all means a bad shooting night for Dame, no excuses as he is the one choosing to take these difficult shots, but just in context, he hits those 3 easier shots (italics) hes 6/13 on the night and no one is talking about him missing “wide opens”. I’m going to start tracking these as I myself thought a lot of these were wide open until i pulled them up on [NBA.com](https://NBA.com) and looked at them again.
#1 – running off a screen turn around catch and shoot / contested / miss
#2 – near the logo deep shot / contested / miss
**#3 – near the logo deep shot / contested / make**
***#4 – deep curl off a screen / weak contest from trailer / miss***
#5 – screen into a step back / contested / miss
**#6 – step back / contested / make**
***#7 – transition catch and shoot / wide open / miss***
***#8 – off a screen / weak contest from trailer / miss***
#9 – sidestep from defender #1 / contested from defender #2 / miss
**#10 – transition into stepback corner logo / contested / make**
*#11 – tipped pass from a rebound catch and shoot deep shot / contested / miss*
#12 – near the logo deep shot from behind a screen / contested / miss
#13 – running catch and shoot while G slips (guarded by Camara with DA helping) / contested / miss

Most of this are tough, tough shots. The team has to find a way to generate him easier looks.

FYI, the NBA counts “wide open” as the nearest defender being 6 or more feet away. “Open” is 4-6 feet “Tight” is 2-4 feet “Very tight” is 0-2 feet
As of Feb. 1:
Lillard gets 2.6 “wide open” threes per game (46-117), and is making 39.3% of those. Only Brook Lopez has had more (148).
Lillard gets 3.6 “open” threes per game, the most on the team, and is making 33.7% of those (55-163). Beasley is No. 2 with 125 open threes.
Lillard shoots 2.2 “tight” threes per game, making 27.3% (27-99)
He is 5-8 on “very tight” threes – 62.5%

He’s never gonna get open looks, he’s Damian lillard. These are shots he has been nailing for 4 years. This is his shot diet, he has to hit them but right now everything’s off. He’s mechanics are off, his lift is worse, his separation on step backs is worse, his speed and rhythm getting into his shot motion off a screen is worse, it’s all off.
