From 3rd in rookie of the year voting to 14 minutes. Lol

Clarkson, thanks for all the fun memories. Thanks for breaking the triple double curse. You’ll be a Jazzman for life and get a standing ovation whenever you come to Delta.

But holy shit man. I’m done. He needs to be gone by the deadline.

  3. screeningnick

Calling it for what it is: Will Hardy disaster class.

  4. PhredXor

Well at least we had our mini streak. Back to sucking for us.

  5. KlythsbyTheJedi

Complain about the refs all you want, that’s on coach. Some absolutely baffling decisions down the stretch.

  6. Ridiculously_Named

I don’t understand it. Kessler needs to be on the floor for the last five minutes of that game at least.

  7. Jordan Clarkson, I appreciate all you’ve done for the Jazz.. but man, I really hope you get traded for virtually anything at the deadline.

This team is ready for the trade deadline. Fans desperately need a direction this season — are we making the play-in/playoffs or tanking?

    GAME NOTES:

Damn what a chippy game. The entire second half felt like a playoff game, very intense, very chippy, very physical.

Another solid team effort tonight, with 6 players in double figures. Very solid night by a few jazz men, of course highlighted by Lauri.

Gotta give the defensive props to Kris Dunn. Only 16 minutes tonight, but his defense in that third quarter especially was insane. [Like look at this insane play.](https://x.com/utahjazz/status/1753279394934829335?s=20) Offensively, only 3 points, 1-1 from 3, 0-3 from inside the arc, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, 1 turnover. In his 16 minutes, he was a +5. Gotta play Dunn more. TNT put up a stat in the second quarter that he holds his opponents to a league best 38% (minimum 5 shots guarded). That is absolutely unreal for a 6’3″ 205 lbs 29 year old PG. Solid playmaking as usual

Lauri had a very solid night offensively, a good bounceback after a poor night against NY. 28 points, 4-9 from 3, and a perfect 6-7 from inside the arc, 4-4 from the line, 10 rebounds (2 offensive), 3 assists, 1 steal. He mainly had Tobias Harris on him, who is a very, very solid defender, so it was impressive that he was able to get his shot. [He hit this nice shot in the fourth over Tobi that impressed me.](https://x.com/JazzLead/status/1753285404567257591?s=20) Last note on Lauri, he did a great job of defending without fouling. [But seriously, he was on fire tonight](https://x.com/pisounalinha/status/1753288817786691653?s=20) like look at [these](https://x.com/IsolationNBA/status/1753288985571389483?s=20) shots and [this poster.](https://x.com/BasketBballer/status/1753272380376723961?s=20) He was lighting it up in the fourth, scoring 13 and shooting 5-6 from the field in the final quarter.

John Collins is stringing together some solid games. His last 10 he is averaging 14 points 9 rebounds a night on 58% shooting. Tonight was much of the same, 15 points, 5-5 from inside the arc, 1-3 from 3, 2-3 from the line, 9 rebounds (3 offensive), 2 assists, 1 steal, 2 blocks. He did a great job on the glass and held down the paint fairly well with Markkanen tonight. He had a monster block at the rim with 15 seconds left that helped preserve our chance at life.

Collin Sexton was throat punched with 5:30 left in the 3rd, and didn’t play until 4:15 left in the fourth. However, that didn’t stop him from scoring 22 on 8-14 shooting, 6 assists, 1 rebound, 1 steal, 1 block, but he did have 3 turnovers. The 76ers were very physical with our ball handlers, constantly blitzing them and putting a lot of pressure on them. I think Sexton just got ahead of himself a few times and lost the ball. When he came in late in the fourth he immediately made an impact defensively on Maxey, and got two layups pretty quickly.

Kelly Olynyk is such a foul-baiter and I love it. At the end of the third he patiently waited for his defender to get into the air to get 3 free free-throw attempts, knocking down all 3. He shot a team high 7 free throw attempts, making all 7. He finished with 14 points on 3-4 shooting, 1-2 from 3, 7-7 from the line, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 0 turnovers, and just 1 foul. His decision making was on point tonight. I tell you though, if he was on the opposing team I’d hate his guts lol he just has such an annoying playstyle. Absolute Klynyk tonight.

Walker Kessler played just 14 minutes (criminal), but damn did he make those 14 minutes count. 8 points on 4-4 shooting, 7 rebounds (3 offensive), 2 assists, 4 blocks, 1 turnover, and 2 fouls. Great game for him in his limited minutes. He showcased some great hands, hauling in a few lobs and tough passes, [including this nice snag from a Clarkson assist, put down by his signature reverse slam.](https://x.com/UtahJazzClips/status/1753264282064572830?s=20) He really, really, really, really, really, REALLY needs to be playing more.

Clarkson had a very iffy shooting night yet again, 5-15 from the field, 1-7 from 3, 5-5 from the line for 16 points, but damn he was our best playmaker. An absolutely unreal 10 assists to 1 turnover. [He did hit some tough floaters like this one here, which few guys in the league can consistently hit like he can.](https://x.com/camisa_23/status/1753279874410668403?s=20) Besides the poor shooting, I’d consider this a great Clarkson game. His playmaking was great. Just needs to clean up that shot selection.

Keyonte had a pretty good game off the bench, and hit some tough shots. 4-5 from inside the arc, but 1-4 from 3. 11 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 turnovers for him. [I want to showcase this unreal pass he had](https://x.com/Jazz_Cougars/status/1753270157756228012?s=20) and although it resulted in a turnover, I really think that he has the vision and the ability to make these sort of passes on the regular. Really solid game from our Rook.

Simone struggled with his shot tonight, 3-9, 1-6 from 3 for 7 points, but his defense was really good and kept him in the game. 4 rebounds (2 offensive), 2 assists, and just 2 fouls. Really need his shot to fall consistently again though. A team high +6 in his minutes tonight.

Damn I wanted to win that one. What a very chippy game, Maxey absolutely lit us up all night (thankfully cooled off a bit in the second half), and we were trying hard to keep pace with him. Our bench came in huge tonight, 49 points compared to Philly’s 20. Another key statistic was our assists. 36 assists on 45 made buckets, compared to Philly’s 27 assists on 47 made baskets.

We missed a ton of 3’s, but he made all but 1 free throw which is important. We have to make our freebies, and we did tonight, just couldn’t hit the one that mattered 🙁

We outrebounded Philly 43 to 39, and kept our turnovers down to just 11, but forced just 5. They doubled our points off turnovers, 18 to 9, but overall I’d say we won in all the major stats. It just shows how key turnovers are, and if we could’ve cleaned up a couple, or forced 1-2 more, the result could’ve looked very differently.

That last foul call was rough. I know Clarkson wasn’t in his shooting motion, but the whistle came late so it gave me hope he was getting 3 FTA. Makes sense why he didn’t, and it wouldn’t have mattered because he missed the first one, but damn I wanted it.

One last final note, Kessler should not have played the least amount of minutes of any Jazzman tonight. 14 minutes is absolutely criminal, especially the way he was impacting the game on both ends. I don’t think it’s coaching malpractice, Collins & Olynyk had great games too, but Kessler needs to play more than 14 minutes in a game where he had 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Come on. Hardy had some questionable decisions down the stretch. I disagree with playing Clarkson & Sexton together when Dunn & Keyonte were playing great tonight, and Clarkson was not shooting his best. I strongly disagree with Kessler, obviously, and I didn’t think our zone was the move. Tobias Harris is a mid range merchant, and we were giving him middy’s all day.

No coach postgame notes as the game was on TNT.

    Damn. 24-26.

  10. sanchopanza84

Clarkson has been a good story for the Jazz these past few seasons but it feels about time to part ways TBH.

  11. brosephsmith21

Basketball is no fun this time of year.

  12. MadMadMad2018

Love Clarkson as a human being, but I don’t want him on this team come the deadline lol.

  13. MegaAltarianite

Kessler and Dunn kept Utah in this game with their defense. They were not on the court in the fourth quarter…

  14. DongBLAST

Does every NBA player ever have their career high against the jazz?

  15. No_Mode_3746

The fact that a team can foul to prevent another team from shooting a 3 point shot is so broken.

  16. mrcolty5

I used to be the optimist here but I genuinely hate the decisions that Will Hardy makes, not playing Kris Dunn or Walker Kessler the entire 4th literally cost you the game, watching Beverley get that corner 3 was literally the 2021 Jazz all over again and it could’ve been stopped.

I still believe in the team a lot, but at some point things have to change

  17. Farjon29

Is Will Hardy’s substitutions and rotations always been this suspect? Clarkson playing damn near the whole fourth, Kessler not playing in clutch time?

  18. brig_pudding

Kessler played 14 minutes. Dunn played 16 minutes. Will Hardy is either an idiot or is actively trying to not win basketball games.

  19. Shrimp_guy

This is a bad jazz team. This is the worst place to be in. Mediocre core that is just good enough to not get good lottery picks. This it the type of middling hell that is hard to get out of.

  20. MadMadMad2018

Are ya’ll ready for the 10th pick in the weakest draft class? Barf… Also why 14 minutes for Kessler? Incredible production when he was on the floor..

  21. munki_flip

Dunn and Kessler for a combined 30mins of play tonight (+7) This is coaching malpractice

  22. ExtraFirmPillow_

Hardy needs to play college hoops 2k8 legacy mode so he can learn how to properly allocate minutes for players

  23. DoubtsAndHopes

    #Justice for Walker Kessler

We’re alienating the development of our young talented defensive center for no reason.

  24. Im sorry Clarkson needs to go. That 3rd quarter by him was so bad. Constantly stopping the ball movement and forcing shots. I know he provides scoring and Utah needs it, but cant help to think having Dunn or George play more is better for this team in the long run.

  25. MeLlamo_Mayor927

Is Hardy a good coach or not? I have zero fucking clue. Just like this team has no clue what direction they are headed in. Are they tanking or trying to make the playoffs? These decisions need to be made before the season starts so we don’t end up stuck in mediocrity aka NBA purgatory. It happened last year and it did nothing but cost us a shot at a generational talent in the draft. Are we really going to go down the same road again this season?

  26. I’m not quick to blame Hardy until the trade deadline passes. If he’s still making these questionable decisions, then it’s time to start criticizing him.
