If this were true at all, the main issue is trying to make a fair trade for LeBron. The Lakers would presumably be leaning into a youth movement, because you’re not getting equal talent back for LeBron.
On the other side, young teams won’t really be bullish on trading young prospects for a potential have year rental. Maybe something like Cleveland tries to get him back, moves Jarrett Allen to a third team who then sends young assets for him? But who knows.
All jokes aside, clearly the talent is there with LBJ. I just don’t know that I’d ever want that sort of presence on my team. Considering the vitriol LAL fans directed at LBJ during the Kobe days, it was a strange thing seeing them accept him as one of their own.
It’s more fun for me as a basketball fan to see the LBJ drama happen on other teams.
