Look at all these trades and figure out what the salary cap is and you know and this that and the other thing and it’s just unbelievable to me because it’s just all it is is a waste of time talking about things that you don’t have any great validity to them necessarily I

Mean why why would you waste your talk about something freaking meaningful I mean why do you want to talk about something that’s total and complete speculation just like I’m gonna come up with this great idea and some of the things are just absolutely asinine I mean it it’s just amazing what they do

In the World of Sports today hey God bless them somebody’s getting paid to do it and if somebody’s paying you to do it then by God go ahead and do it but yeah hey all of a sudden now all of a sudden kaming has got a whole different

Perspective about him now doesn’t he it’s amazing what happens if you actually get minutes and you get to play a little bit you get a little confidence in your game he’s got his teammates you know Draymond talking about hey he’s a this guy’s a stud he’s gonna be a star

Just like what he thought he would be hey you can I told this is you know you’ve heard me say this forever Cyrus you can only learn so much sitting and watching uhhuh absolutely absolutely to get into the game and you have to have a

Chance to play and this used to drive me nuts and with some coaches you watch a thing a guy makes a mistake he Yanks him out of the game how the hell are you supposed to play basketball if it’s a game of mistakes and you make a mistake

So how do you play you’re scared to do anything because oh my God if I make a mistake I’m coming out of the game I’m not going to get my minutes let the guys play through it just you know what I did to my guys when I coached

I oh you froze on me are you there sir oh no I lost the Hall of Famer hopefully you will unfreeze in just a minute oh boy man well hopefully we’ll Rick’s connection will uh I don’t know why I’m not I’m I’m back you’re back you’re back continue on Sir continue

This this is this was what think about what you’re doing okay just think about what you’re doing okay you did something you weren’t thinking you did something foolish now the whole thing is when I did that I didn’t do it a second time then somebody’s going to come in the

Game and take you out of the freaking game because you you lost your focus you didn’t do what you should have done you should have learned from that mistake don’t duplicate or replicate that mistake and that’s the whole thing every sport there is it’s about unforced

Errors like they say in tennis and all well it’s the same thing here it’s errors a Miss shot is an error a bad pass is an error I mean all a foul is an error those are all the mistakes that you make in a basketball game football T

Type of things off sides whatever it may be the team that generally makes the fewest number of mistakes in an athletic contest is normally the one that wins especially in a team situation so he’s getting his chance to play and to his credit he’s doing a hell of a job what

He get now seven games 20 points 20 points I think or something like that correct and uh and so I’m I’m happy for him I’ve always felt you know we talked about it when he first came into the league a number of years ago when watched him in the summer league for the

First time I said you know what he has something that I like he actually can see the floor he sees the game he was making some passes to people he wasn’t tunnel vision uh and starting to get a little bit of a feel but the thing is is

That you have to play more to be able to get a feel for a game that’s different than what you were playing on the other level because it’s a step up there’s more required of you the athletes are all better they’re all faster stronger quicker than the guys you play against

You might have played some great people in college but you hav’t played against the kind of guys you’re playing against in the NBA these are the best players in the freaking world so I’m happy for him uh you know I’m still I’m still optimistic because I’m the eternal

Optimist I’m still optimistic that this team will be able to put themselves together I I think they become one of those dangerous teams that I’ve talked about so often okay a team that could conceivably and maybe they have to do the playin I don’t know we’ll see

There’s plenty of time left but but if they’re an eight seed and I’m number one seed or I’m two and I’m playing seven and they’re seven I’m going to be a little scared about this team with the experience all that they have and it’s how you’re playing going into the

Playoffs that matters you could be playing great all along during stuff and all then when you get to the playoffs I mean you’ve see that happen all the time and look at look at the Philadelphia Eagles rolling along all of a sudden they were like nothing they like

Disappeared I mean so this is the type of stuff that can happen in sports and so I’m optimistic they’ll stay healthy get together find rotations that are working for them the guys that fit well together and you know reading now they think that you know that this has helped

Actually with kaminga doing his thing that he and wigs are starting to feel each other and playing a little bit better hey hey these guys they didn’t get to where they are because they don’t know how to play okay I mean seriously and so everybody goes through bad times

Everybody has a difficult time like you say normally it’s a two- we period that most teams even struggle during the course of a season doesn’t happen very often often that they don’t and players also I mean I was told by my coach in college Bruce Hil uh who was a former

Pro player great Pro Player said listen just remember when you get up there you’re going to probably have eight to 10 games where things just aren’t going to be working well for you don’t let that you know don’t let disrupt you don’t let that get you down you know

You’ll play through it but when that’s happening find something else to do to be productive don’t feel sorry for yourself if the outside shots not working drive to the basket get to the free throw line go get an offensive rebound get out on The Fast Break play

Tougher defense go get some rebounds do something productive when your offensive game as far as shooting the ball is concerned isn’t working well for you that’s what you have to learn how to do and that comes with what getting a chance to play absolutely you know Rick uh one of

The the polarizing players this season has been Andrew Wiggins who since Draymond Green came back you talked about Wiggins and kaminga playing together Draymond seems to be the glue that’s holding that together um over the last five games Wiggins is finally showing a semblance of his old self his

Scoring is up to 18 per game he’s grabbing rebounds his shooting’s up my biggest concern when he comes is is regarding Wiggins is what’s gonna happen when Moses Moody comes back you just spoke for a few minutes about Jonathan kaminga needing reps and you and I were

On the same page for that I remember Rick when we saw kaminga his rookie year in summer league both of us were like wow wow like this kid has a left he looks big out there and I even though Moody I don’t think has the same ceiling

As kaminga I think he’s going to be a great player but if Wiggins is there I don’t know if he gets the minutes what are your thoughts on that are you okay with Moody you know just sitting there rotting away so we can see when he’s gotten the chance he’s played well yes

Agree you know I mean so he he’s shown so signs of of being a productive player on a fairly consistent basis you know a better outside shooter than kaminga right now obviously doesn’t have the same athleticism that kaminga has but he’s still an athletic player and is

Still a very nice player for this team for the future so they they have some serious things to decide as to what they want to do uh you know I keep reading and hearing things about that they’re out shopping and actually talking to people possibly about clay I mean it’d

Be a shame for him not to be able to finish his career as a as a Golden State Warrior with all he’s brought to the team and the great player that he has been um and still is you know a top-notch player I mean he’s still

Better than a whole bunch of guys in the league still can shoot the hell out of the ball and he’s always been a fairly streaky shooter in some respects and but he’s what he’s on he’s he’s he’s ludicrous I me it’s crazy but you know I don’t see where

Moody gets a lot of time when you still have Clay around I mean seriously because to be honest with if and especially if kaminga works on his shot which he should do okay and he starts to become his goal should be to if I were him I want to be

A 40% three-point shooter and I’m going to work my butt off I’m going to grab clay I’m going to grab Steph I’m going to work with them look at my shots see what’s happen go out and put in thousands of shots and just get to the point where you feel comfortable and

Have that confidence to knock down that open three or even the challenge threes be able to make be a 40% guy is what your goal should be now that’s exceptional shooting okay don’t get me wrong I mean 30% is passable 33 is 50% from two

So so at worst if you shoot for 40 and you come up short you get 35 36 or something that’s still really good shooting yep and you can live with that absolutely and so if he gets to the point where he’s shooting well with his

Size and all now you can go you know get some you know six seven athletic guy out there playing the two then you still have the three I mean because Moody fits into that same year they got a lot of guys that are fairly similar and it’s

Hard and I I don’t envy Steve having to figure out you know who can I play who’s playing well how is this going to work I don’t know Moody might be one of those guys especially with kaminga coming on like he is if they decide they’re going

To keep clay and give him an extension uh it may very well be that he’d be one of the guys that I would think another team would be very interested in him as a that’s why I keep saying I look I logically speaking and and I don’t know

If you agree or not but I feel like if there’s going to be an odd if there is an odd piece here it’s Clay I mean when you look at his productivity it’s dipped defensively is where I really am concerned with Clay’s uh play in this

Modern era is he’s getting beat left and right I don’t know what his proper fit is defensively when he plays uh when he uh plays guards defensively they beat him when he plays bigs defensively they’re just backing him down and shooting over him I I don’t know what

The answer is there but at the same time like you said I think a lot of people want Klay to finish his career with the Warriors that’s why I keep looking back to Wiggins as being the piece that you kind of have to move on from I I don’t

Ball in the current Incarnation well small ball can work at times depending upon who the small guys are and who the complimentary people are but you are going to give up something to a team I like I was always shocked when I watched with you know as the

Warrior the Warriors not just the Warriors but the league and self for copycats right so when the little guys the Spud webs and the mesy BS as the world came in everybody’s trying the little guy to do it I said I told there’s not a chance in hell that any

Team’s gonna win a championship with one of those guys being a starting point guard okay and when they would bring him into the game the whole thing is you bring him in the game to hold the disrupt things get them P moving quick all the stuff they do why you didn’t

Abuse him I remember one time I think it was might have been Mugsy coming in and my son Brent was playing on one of the teams he was on and Mugsy’s coming Mugsy’s guarding my son my son’s 67 with a freaking wingspan reaches higher than I reach it’s ridiculous post up he can

Do all this stuff they never posted him I mean the first thing I would do when that little guy come in game I take him and I abuse him absolutely Abus so the same thing here if I’m playing and I’m coaching against the Warriors and they got that small lineup I’m taking their

Smallest guy because everybody thinks it’s a post big man you don’t have to be a big man when I coached in the minor leagues I would post up a 62 63 guys I had that were absolute beasts in the post right and say hey I’m gonna post

Him up but especially if you got a big guy that can shoot the ball a little bit I mean my God why would you do that but if I’m against the Warriors I’m going to post those guys up I’m going to make them pay a deer price for putting such a

Small lineup in the game and try to make them pay that deer price and the way you do that and they are and they are that’s why the Warriors defense is awful so what do you think is going through Kerr’s mind here I know I know you don’t

Like uh criticizing Kerr I get it but you know this is it could be any coach if any coach is doing this what is the rationale what is What is the if you’re winning if you’re winning it’s good but if you’re not winning then obviously you got to make a change I

Mean yeah you it’s what what Einstein said right you know I mean yes absolutely it’s it’s ignorant it’s it’s absolutely ignorant makes no damn sense oh and it blows and it blows my mind yeah that wasn’t he wasn’t James Bond in that one so I don’t like that

Uh I got all my sound bites back so make a change you have to change What’s happen just like a game plan is only good if it’s working you start out and you try to do it you have to be willing to make changes on the

Adjustment I mean on on the move I mean if something happens you have to change it if something’s working you go for it that’s why I don’t understand either sometimes the coaches something’s going good for them and they don’t keep milking it until the other team figures

Out a way to stop it I mean you see that happen a lot I watched that over the years and that’s very hard to Fathom as well because I don’t think a lot of this stuff is not very complicated it just makes Common Sense yep I absolutely am makes no damn sense

Can I do to help this team you need to put me on the bench let’s do it fight move and then when you come in the game go to him you know I would I tried to tell Calvin Murphy when I was there with him Calvin why don’t you just stay come

A little defense to get on the guy to try to not that he’s going to shut him down but he can make them work harder maybe make it a little bit difficult screw up their offensive continuity somewhat those are the kind of things and decisions you have to kind of make

That well the Cavaliers are playing well by the way we gotta watch the are and your old teammate Clifford Ray was on the show a couple weeks ago saying someone in the chat was bringing up Jared Allen sorry he’s not available they’re not trading him so yeah the the

Cavaliers are doing playing fantastic ball correct s interrup good would you have thought that the that the Dallas Mavericks would have lost by 34 points to Minnesota I can so oh they need to make some trades here do well Warriors haven’t lost the game that badly all

Season so I’m just saying this stuff happens you know another team you got to watch right now is the suns are starting to starting playing they are good basketball they just crushed crushed the Nets in their game not that the Nets are anything special but I I watched a

Little bit of their stuff they’re they’re playing a lot better basketball but no I I I would agree that I think in this situation this is like you get somebody and have guaranteed success and you may have to give up some potential for the future you can just do a full

Evaluation for the rest of the season hope everybody stays healthy things seem to be getting a little bit better right now see what happens with Gary coming back in I still don’t I don’t envy I don’t envy Steve at all with the decisions he’s got to make because it’s

Not like you have a 12-man roster back in our day 12-man roster and the deepest they usually ever went was eight okay now they got a 15-man roster in the G League two-way guys and stuff three two-way guys they got so many guys that are really close in abilities that can
