Speculation of possible moves and we’ll touch upon that in a second but before we do we I do want to address a few other smaller things before we touch upon some of the trade ideas that this here Nets boy have come up with okay so the first thing I want to

Quickly discuss or address is um the fact that Nets actually won a couple games this last stretch um they had a very frustrating and stressful victory over the Houston Rockets in which they blew I don’t remember now was like a 28o lead and barely held on to win by two

And the rocket had a chance to actually tie the game and set into overtime but luckily Mr whammy on his birthday caused you know seun to miss the free throws I mean only this Nets team could that happen to like it’s just H but we shouldn’t be surprised because

We as we know this Nets team sucks so um but they they beat the Rockets So win is a win at the end of the day and then they followed that up with a win against the Utah Jazz which might have been one of the best games I’ve seen this net

Team play in a long time and that’s might be because it was the return of Ben the useless Simmons um out of the blue he was back and he played 18 minutes and he looked unbelievably sharp I mean he didn’t look Flawless but the guy almost had a triple double in 18 minutes

He was two rebounds away from a triple double he was pushing the tempo he was finding the open man he was making the right plays he was doing what we expect Ben Simmons to do when he’s out there and it was just really good to see I mean considering the guy hasn’t played

Since October it it was impressive to see him and then of course he goes and lands awkwardly in the last play that he was out there and has a knee contusion and ends up missing the next game I mean go go figure with this guy I mean this is why he’s been

The useless Simmons because the guy finally came back after missing two and a half months three months of of B of of of basketball comes back looks good and it immediately gets hurt again I mean come on but uh luckily they just say it’s a knee contusion and that he hopefully

Shouldn’t miss a lot of time but I don’t think he’s going to be back the next game because it’s at Philly and we all know how Ben Simmons and uh Philadelphia how you know so I don’t actually think Ben Simmons is coming back for that game I think he’s magically still gonna have

Some swelling on his knee for that game and he’ll come back the game after that that’s my prediction but uh but the positive is the Nets looks really good with Ben Simmons out there even though he was only out there for 18 minutes and got you kind of excited for what could

Happen though I doubt it if he stayed healthy with this net team so that’s the other thing I wanted to address um I also want to address some of the other injuries uh you know uh Dorian FY Smith ankle injury he’s uh hopefully gon to be back sooner rather than later and then

Uh DQ Whitehead unfortunately had season ending surgery to help with a stress fracture that had um little disappointing about Tariq I mean I really wanted to see this kid like of all the rookies the Nets had the three rookies he was the one that I was the most intrigued with because he was

The one that probably has the biggest upside and the highest potential but I guess we have to wait for next year for that so uh yeah so that’s kind of the biggest things I’m taking away from uh these last couple games that I want to just address real fast before I get into

The whole what moves the Nets should make so um but there is one more thing I want to quickly go over and address before I talk about the trades the return of Kevin Durant to Brooklyn now um look we all know how it ended all right we don’t have to Hash

That out it was it was a disaster this this team imploded he asked for the trade again all all these things um but I feel like what happened in that game with the fans and everything just kind of reflects how us net fans feel I would

Say it was about 80% cheers 20% booze and and that’s the way I feel like we feel as net fans that’s the way I feel now you know most of me is thankful and appreciative of Kevin Durant like I know Kevin Durant you know

He he he you know he he uh you know put that I think it was uh you know he tweeted or xed is that what it’s called now I know it’s called X but do you prefer it as X whatever he messaged out you know um

You know what did I do to deserve a tribute video I didn’t accomplish anything and and and I and I get what he’s saying because you know they did it they never made it past the second round but the reality is the one thing Kevin Durant

Did uh uh do is he gave us hope he gave this organization and franchise a chance uh he gave us optimism which is something that this organization has not had since when the Nets traded for Vince Carter like that same type of excitement we had as net fans when that trade

Happened which also by the way never amounted to more than a second round exit as well um it gave us hope so that’s what I would say to Kevin Durant in response to you know him saying oh what did I ever do to deserve a tribute video you gave us optimism and

Hope and and and and and just for once in our Lies We felt good about being Brooklyn Net fans because that rarely happens so um I think it I think cheering them made a lot of sense but at the same time I also do like the fact he did get booed by

Some of the fans I mean because at the end of the day this Nets team would be in such a better situation if he just stayed I’m sorry I like I know we got Mel Bridges and and cam Johnson and draft picks but the reality is if you had this team the way

It is now with Durant and you know and den witty and and and cam Thomas the way he’s been playing which gotta give props to cam Thomas again he is looking a lot and lot better out there making the right plays making the right passes and and not

Forcing too much so Nets wasn’t very pleased with him but I digress I think this Nets team with Durant and cam Thomas and Claxton and and Finny Smith and den witty after the Kyrie trade I think that team is significantly better than what this team is now and I think

They would just be one piece away again whether it’s by a free agency or trade to become a championship caliber team again but it is what it is he left um but and at the end of the day he Durant got the finnal laugh he played great beat the

Nets whatever but I just I just wanted to tell everyone how I felt that that the way the fans responded is kind of the way I felt so the way I look at it is we’re at a point now where it’s kind of like we’re good like we’re you know

What I mean it’s like when you run into your ex like a year after you break up you’re still a little bitter and angry about it cuz you’re just like you things could been so much different if it wasn’t for you but at the same time

You’re just like I’m done with it I’m over it like let’s move on it’s how you doing it’s good to see you good luck to you that’s the kind of way I feel right now with Durant so there you have it um the Kevin Durant part uh because now we

Got to dive into the whole point of this episode a full almost 10 minutes in and that is some trade ideas that this here Nets boy had Okay so as alluded to earlier in this episode there’s been loads of speculations surrounding this Nets team and possible moves that they

Make might make and there’s good reason for that because the Nets are in a very interesting situation they’re nine games under 500 yet they’re one game out of the 10 seed which is the final playin spot but they don’t own any of their own draft picks so if they do sell players

And get worse it doesn’t help them yet they also though want to hold on to some of their assets and not just make a trade for the sake of trading to just get marginally better but they still want to be competitive and make the playoffs so they’re in this very interesting

Situation but the reality is there are some moves that I believe Shawn Marx could make that helps this Nets team now but doesn’t aect fect the flexibility of the future or the ability for them to improve in the future and so on so forth so the first trade is one that I touched

Upon a little bit at the end of my last net Bo episode and I’ve you know heard is a possibility and that is Spencer Den witty and two first round draft picks to the Hawks for Deonte Murray um this trade makes loads of sense on paper

Right the Hawks they said they want a expiring contract and some draft capital for Murray the Nets they could use another playmaker another shot Creator another guy that can facilitate and just just just score and be a go-to guy down the stretch and Murray is an All-Star

He’s been an All-Star he’s an All-Star caliber player he is like the perfect fit for this net team he’s 27 years old so he fits the same timetable as Bridges and Johnson and Claxton I just touched upon he’s a good playmaker shot Creator he can play on and off the ball so you

Can play him next to Ben Simmons if you need to yet you can also play in replace of Ben Simmons like he’s just he fits so well for this Nets team and the fact that the Nets have what the Hawks are looking for just it just seems so

Perfect yet I don’t think it’s gonna happen and that’s because of one thing the Nets have made it clear that they’re trying to keep as little salary on the books beyond the end of next season as of right now only Mel Bridges and cam Johnson are the only two players signed

Through the end of next season or well at the end of next season the 2025 season um and Murray signed for four more years after this year so that doesn’t fit the time what Shawn marks is looking for contract wise you know with the new collective bargaining agreement they

Don’t want to go over that tax apron for the repeaters tax more than I think it’s it’s three times there’s restrictions and all this stuff Shawn marks doesn’t want to do that so he wants to keep the contracts on the books beyond the end of next season as little as possible and

Murray doesn’t fit that he doesn’t now now I would still do the trade because first of all Murray’s only expected to make about $36 million on average a season and I feel that’s very fair value for an All-Star caliber player and then second of all once again the fit and the

Timetable what the Nets are doing like I think you could trade for Murray and how have Murray Johnson and bridges and have a really good core and still build around that like I still think that could be done without going over the threat the tax threshold and the you

Know the apron that they don’t want to go over so I still think it’s doable but the reality is I just don’t see Shawn marks doing it I I really don’t I think he’s just he’s he had a plan sticking to this season and I don’t think he’s going to

Waiver from it so as much as that trade makes sense and I want it to happen I don’t think the Nets are going to do it however I do think the Nets will be involved in a trade for Deonte Murray another rumor out there is a three- team trade with Den witty

Going to the Hawks Murray going to the Lakers and D’Angelo Russell coming back home to the Nets now there’s other things that will have to be involved in a trade like that and this here Nets boy came up with it this is the three team

Trade that I came up with and a lot of it is based off of some of the things I’ve read and then some of the things I just kind of figured out on my own so the Hawks would get Spencer Den witty and the the 2027 76ers protected pick from the

Nets and the 29 29 2029 pick from the Lakers so the Hawks get den wt’s den witty expiring contract and the two picks yet it only comes at the expense of the Nets one pick the Lakers get the jonte Murray who they want and Royce O’Neal from the Nets

And the Nets get D’Angelo Russell torian Prince and Jaylen HUD grafo from the Lakers this is a win-win-win situation in my opinion for all three teams I feel like all three teams get exactly what they want Lakers get Murray their two-way combo guard that can play with

LeBron and AD and be a big help to the team they get Royce O’Neal the three and D guy that they’ve been looking for and try to help them make a make a run at the playoffs the Hawks get that expiring contract from Dy and two picks and the Nets get a

Playmaker who’s been here a fan favorite an All-Star caliber player a guy who can play on and off the ball so he can play next to Ben Simmons and D’Angelo Russell they get the replacement of of of Royce O’Neal and tan Prince someone who also been on this net team already who could

Just be plugged right into almost the same exact role as to as as Royce O’Neal and then you get a good young Prospect player in Jaylen hoods Cino who could become the point guard of your future and all you’re giving up if you’re the Nets is Den witty and a protected 27

Pick from the 76ers I think it makes loots of sense and that trade though I would still prefer Murray straight up I would take that trade because that would make the Nets team better now and set them up well for the future and D’Angelo Russell

He’s got a players option at the end of the season if he chooses to opt in great he’s there next year if he doesn’t he’s a free agent and I just once again gives the nexts the flexibility so that’s the trade of everything that I’m going to

Discuss that’s the trade that seems the most likely and the one that might actually happen and I’ll be for it so that’s one trade um there’s loads of little trades that could be done for just Dorian Smith or Royce O’Neal outright with draft picks and loads of teams are interested in

Them I could spend another 105 minutes just talk about those trades but I want to wrap up this episode talking about an out there trade that Nets boy came up with that is so out there I haven’t heard anyone discuss it it’s so out there that when you first

Hear it you’re going to say n boy what have you been smoking lately but the reality is when I explain it you’re gonna say whoa that makes loads of sense all right so the crazy trade that I came up with is a three- team trade between the Nets the Bulls and the Pelicans

In which the Bulls would receive Ben the useless Simmons and cam the black hole Thomas the Pelicans would receive Zack LaVine Dorian finny Smith and two maybe three of the Net’s draft picks that they have available to trade and the Nets would get Larry Nance Jr and Brandon Ingram

What what are you talking about n boy why what what do these why would e any of these teams involved consider this wh why would the Pelicans consider trading one of their best players in Brandon Ingram when they’re in the thick of the Western Conference playoff pitcher that

Doesn’t make sense why also he’s got loads of potential still even though he’s been in the league for six seasons he’s still 26 27 years old and is still cons still getting better like why would the Pelicans agree to this why would the Bulls agree what what what is your

Rationale I’ll tell you exactly what it is starting with the bulls the bulls have made it clear they want to get rid of Zack LaVine that that that they want to get out of his contract he’s signed for the next three seasons and and they just they almost want to start over

Fresh the Bulls they still want to be competitive this year but they’re looking at the situation with with with with you know vich and and and Demar d r Roan and LaVine like this this didn’t work out well Ben Simmons is a free agent at the end of next season

So kind of getting that money off the books right there and then cam Thomas well we all know a good young scorer he is so the blls would do this trade because they’re getting Zack LaVine off their books they’re getting a young scorer in cam Thomas who they can help

Build around and then they just they get another playmaker in Ben Simmons that let’s be honest look we’ve just touched upon it earlier in this episode when he plays he’s pretty good and with the uncertainty surrounding you know Lonzo ball he may never play again what’s the

Harm of having Ben Simmons on the team to maybe be another playmaker for the Bulls and if it doesn’t work out he’s a free agent at the end of next season so you still get out of lavine’s contract so that’s why the Bulls would do it and

I I think that’s something they might consider maybe you might have to throw a second round draft pick or something else in there maybe another young player like maybe Noah County which he’s looked you know the word is he’s been doing pretty well in the G league but maybe

You have to do something like that but I think that would be enough why the Nets would do the trade is I mean come on Brandon Ingram to me he’s he’s he’s a borderline top 15 player in the league definitely in my opinion top 20 I think he’s right around

There with his skill set his playmaking his scoring ability the fact that you know he’s a young player that fits the mold of of what the Nets are looking for you know 26 27 years old Fitz Bridges Fitz I mean it’s just so perfect of a

Fit yet again and then you know Larry n Jr he can be the third string or backup center that this Nets team needs we know that you know uh D Ron sharp should hopefully be back sooner rather than later but we saw this in this last game against the Suns that once

Without you know finny Smith and without you know uh uh Dron sharp the Nets had no signs especially with Ben Simmons not playing why not Larry n Jr he also can stretch the floor and shoot the three ball at a at a respectable rate so that’s why the Nets would do that trade

I mean yes it comes at the expense of losing cam Thomas we all love we love cam Thomas and but I mean come on to get a talent like Brandon Ingram you gotta try to do something like that and even if it means giving up Dorian fny Smith who’s a

Great two-way player and giving up draft Capital to try to make it done and and and and and give up cam Thomas and I guess Ben Simmons think about it you would do that if you’re the Nets to get a Tal like Brandon Ingram but the real question is why

Would the Pelicans do this why would the Pelicans agree to this trade what’s in it for them well it’s easy if you did some research about the off over the offseason you read that Brandon Ingram declined his to an extension that the Pelicans offered him

This off season he said that he wanted a chance to make all team MBA so he could then qualify for a super max contract compared to a regular Max so he did not sign his extension now that doesn’t mean that he’s not going to resign with the belans and he said that

He just wants to play out this year and next year and try to make first second or third all team NBA because that’s how you able to be eligible for those super max contracts and look I think that’s a good risk that Brandon’s trying to do because I do think he’s capable of

Making at least second or third Team all NBA that’s the type of skill he is and the Pelin said no problem you figure it out and you let us know when you’re ready but the reality is there’s still that uncertainty there’s still that uncertainty that Brandon still might

Just bull right like what if things go south after this season going to next season they start struggling or all these things and brand anger says you know know what forget it I’m just going to test free agency see what I see I can get out there and obviously the Pelicans would

Want to bring him back but just that uncertainty it’s got to be a little nerve-wracking for a franchise that I don’t know just what five years ago saw the Anthony Davis disaster Force his way out of there so maybe they say let’s get let trade him let’s bring

In a player who’s capable of covering his ability to score though he’s not as good but a player who’s capable of scoring in Zack LaVine because Zack LaVine is still a very good scoring guard in this league he can he can score 20 points in his very

Easily and let’s bring in a defensive minded player andorian finy Smith two-way player that could really help us defensively and heck let’s get some draft capital the deal as well you know what maybe we should do that maybe we should accept that trade because we’re trading away a player that hasn’t

Committed to us beyond the end of next season for a player who’s capable of scoring who is signed through two more years after this year so we already know what we’re in with our cap situation we get a defensive minded player infy Smith and draft capital

H you see where I’m going with this it works the Pelicans could do this trade and get the security of Zack LaVine and his scoring as well as defense and I mean that trait the Pelicans would still be very competitive in the west they wouldn’t be it might I don’t know if it

Would take a big step back because of what finny Smith can bring to the table but I just feel like if you’re the general manager of the Pelicans you have to at least I don’t know humor this like look into it and understand like maybe it’s worth it I don’t know I don’t

Know but there you have it that’s just look look the reality is that’s not going to happen okay it’s I wanted to tease you all with that because it works mathematically I I it works for the Bulls definitely and it definitely works for the Nets it’s just would why would

The H I’m just saying it works and maybe if there’s a few other second round draft picks or pick swaps or other draft picks involved to maybe discuss it this a trade I feel like benefits all three teams involved but it’s not gonna happen and in a

Fantasy world the Nets do this trade and then they still trade Den witty and two more other draft picks course then they will be almost completely out of all the draft Capital they have for Deonte Murray yeah like like this is some 2K stuff that net boy did no joke I did

This in 2K I did this exact trade in 2K which worked by the way and then I also did the den witty trade for Murray and my starting lineup was de jonte Murray Mel Bridges Brandon Ingram cam Johnson and and Nick Claxton like come on fantasy right anyway I sorry sorry that

That’s me getting excited like like that’s not gonna happen but just throwing it out there maybe Sean should call the Pelicans and the Bulls and just be like hey I watched this Nets boy guy I’m like one of like 20 people that watch his videos he came up with a pretty good
