Theres just too much smoke for the Houston deal not to happen. I think the holdup is The Rockets want to hold on to the Swaps and instead offer their picks. In The Shams article it was noted The Rockets want to use The Nets Picks ‘24 & ‘26 and their own ‘28 & ‘30 to trade.

Mikal Bridges is not worth five first rounders. What world are we living in? It feels like the article is insinuating that maybe the Nets are leaking to see if they could theoretically drive the price up?

It’s a catch 22 because we could trade him for a ton of assets, but if it’s not in a trade with Houston to get our picks back it makes no sense to tank. And because of that Houston has no reason to overpay and sell the farm because there’s no threat of trading him elsewhere. Really weird spot

I think the Nets standpoint is super simple. If the Pelicans offer us like 3 firsts and Daniels and Ingram or something. Ok great! Or the Rockets give us Green and literally all our capital back. Ok great!

But other than our socks being knocked off I think we are comfy to keep Mikal as our best player right now, which is fine!

A team that is supposedly trying to make a playoff run, presumably for multiple years, changes its offer because of short term changes in their record? Meh Houston isn’t serious enough imo. If we trading Mikal, I want someone to bleed for it.

We dont want zesty teammate humping jalen green give us picks and filler

I also find it odd that Nets are advertising the five picks. I think if an offer blew them away, they would trade Bridges. I just don’t know if a team will make such an offer. I do think Houston could if they wanted to. I think the Pelicans could also make an offer the Nets couldn’t refuse if they wanted to.

I also wonder if Mikal is happy in Brooklyn. Could it be that he, behind-the-scenes, asked out?

The pelicans have a bunch of pieces I would love. That sharpshooter rookie, Alvarado, Dyson Daniels, herb jones

  10. TheMoorNextDoor

If we trading him to Pelicans please get Herbert please please please.

If not him then Dyson and hella picks

Houston makes sense I would do 3 picks and Whitmore today, they have so many young players with upside. Smith Jr, Eason, Thompson.

Get this done. This is the only way to properly rebuild the team.

Adding someone like Dejounte does NOTHING for us. Still a middling play-in team.

Waiting and hoping for stars to join the team in the summer of 25 is NOT a solution.

For the love of God, just build this thing properly.

I do wonder if you offered Houston their choice of Bridges, Cam Johnson, DFS, Royce Dinwiddie would they feel they would be competing for a championship? if so, you would think you could pry away some of their young talent.

  14. I love Mikal and I’d love if he was part of the next contending Nets team but even factoring in protections and some being swaps, I don’t know how you pass up five first rounders. That’s a superstar-level haul.

They better know what they’re doing.

I’ve been a Marks fan for a while now, but I would be pretty angry if it turns out he passed on an opportunity to get most of our picks back.

Don’t know if there’s a better get out of jail free card.

  17. Sweetbeansmcgee

If they can sell high on green to get bridges I think that’s a great move for them

  18. mambamode

Getting your own picks back is like a get-out-of-jail-free card. Make sure you get all of them back and then just ship him out. Not worth keeping Mikal in a losing environment. Do right by him

  19. spitz1674

It’s Rockets or keep him. There’s 0 reason to entertain anyone else’s first round picks over our own when we’re giving away our best player on an already mediocre-bad team. They either take that or better have a backup plan that acquires somebody like Murray.

  20. Supreme_God_Bunny

Pelicans have a lot of juicy picks from Lakers and bucks

  21. holygrail22

I love Mikal. I don’t want to move him. But Jalen Green and 2 of our picks back could kickstart the rebuild the franchise needs

We are going nowhere fast without a major move in either direction… I do feel something is necessary, whether it is trading Bridges away or trading for someone else (can be offseason, doesn’t need to be now)

  22. DisasterOne1365

The Filipino community would love to have Jalen Green here at Brooklyn. They would fill up the arena.

  23. monkeyhighrtd

imma be really sad if mikal gets traded. Was not a fan of the nets till he came to brooklyn

  24. lionsgatewatcher

I would lose all faith in Houston if they trade your picks back + one of our young guys for Mikal Bridges. The fuck has Mikal even done this season?
