Would you rather start a team with De’Aaron Fox or Tyrese Haliburton?

Uh I would prefer to start a team today with Tyrese halberton over dearin Fox Dave 60 seconds on the clock well this one is a unfortunately a little bit of a no-brainer as much as I appreciate Darren Fox I do think he’s a guy who as long as the Kings continue to improve

Will be in MVP conversations especially with his clutch play I think that when you look at what tyes halberton was doing this year already he is an MVP candidate currently he’s just slightly ahead of dearn fox a little bit younger I just think he’s a guy that you can

More easily build around because he makes the players that he plays with so much better dear Fox on his own excellent score gets downhill does create shots for others but not in the same way that Tyrese halberton does halton’s got an opportunity he could be

A 30o a game night and like a 12 assist a night guy I mean he’s that level of offensive player you worry about the defensive end with him and I this is where I give Darren Fox so much credit cuz I do like him so much as a player

But as long as Indiana I mean when you look at what they’ve been doing they’re building a team that’s time time Jay 60 seconds on the clock Fox is just a better score fox has more to his offensive game he’s a better driver he he’s he’s able to get into the

Paint and finish in a way that Tyrese halberton just isn’t now Tyrese halberton one of the most gifted passers in the league he has led the know the best offense this season Fox did the same thing last year in Sacramento he he was the driving force of that he was the

Guy pushing the pace he was the guy fighting everybody that Sacramento team wasn’t particularly talented and fox LED them to the best offensive rating in NBA history he just he’s added the three-point shot to his game in a way that has just opened up everything for him open up everything will open up

Everything for his team he’s shooting like eight threes a game he’s gotten to the level of halberton as a three-point shooter and to me he just has more stuff to his game as a score than halber and I I know the the EPM and all the the on

Court metrics Su Jess halberg time time uh to start this one off um can I ask Jay a question real quick for sure you mentioned you mentioned highest ever offensive rating last year um until this year and who’s leading the number one off ever TJ McConnell you’re right MVP candidate TJ mcconn is

Correcty DJ McConnell Aaron n Smith I mean I hate to use your own Point against you but it does seem like um Tyrese halberton is the superior offensive player scoring is only one part of playing offense and also tyes halberton can really score but the way that he sets up his teammates creates

Look for other people and just the creativity of some of the passes that he throws I mean I just think that that sets him at a whole another level as a lead ball handler lead playmaker to to dearon Fox to me he’s a two-level scorer he he’s an incredible three-point

Shooter he can get to the rim the in between game is where Fox can really Thrive where he can put you on your heels we’ve seen him against Golden State in the playoffs stay at that super high level and and I haven’t seen halberton do that have you seen halberton in the playoffs

Nope nope well I I will say this made it there I Alberton though in he did win an inseason tournament congrats to him for for winning made finical tournament that they they created out of thin air thisas he beat the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks on the way there I mean

The the two supposed favorites in the East so I mean I I just think we’ve seen this guy in high pressure situations and he’s performed very well so you know making the playoffs it’s a team sport you know one guy this young guy hasn’t had a chance to to really do that yet

But they’re going to make the playoffs this year so we’re gonna see it this year um I think Pascal cakam again perfect running mate for Tyrese halberton we’re about to see his game expand even further and this guy was already an MVP candidate this year so

He’s putting up fake stats in a system that is designed to just run and Gun the Pacers play a different style than anyone else in the League this year they are flying up and down the court their stats are totally fake and this sounds like what the Kings haters were saying

About the Kings last year sounds very similar to what they were saying it’s it’s a new year and and I can only go on on what this year is telling me and that’s telling me that that halberton stats are fake the Pacers play A gimmicky system that won’t hold

Up in the playoffs Fox will he’s going to be the one who when the game slows down he’s going to be able to get you a bucket he’s going to be able to get you into what you need he’s a fourth quarter monster has been for a long time and and

To me that’s what I want out of my point guard would the Kings be better if they kept Tyrese instead of getting sabonis and if so how much better that never would have worked I I I I would have loved for it to work but and and we go

Back to the Rings or bus thing they could have been awesome they could have scored a ton of points they could have been super running gun they should have been one of the most fun teams to watch with that back court but when you have two guys that are not just small but

Also kind of thin frailer guys for NBA relative to the rest of the NBA I just don’t think you’re you would have been able to to Cobble together enough def defensive Firepower around those guys I would have loved to see him try it but but that duo long term each of those

Guys flourished as soon as they got away from each other and I don’t think that’s at all um a coincidence I I just want to point out you know you brought up halberton and haven’t seen him in the playoffs and we did see dearen Fox but

Would I have traded him for sabonis I don’t know well yeah there you go I now I pulled up the stats here from last year’s playoffs and and while yeah he did score 42% from the field 33% from three this is high volume and what did do for

Dearen Fox what did halberton do he’s also a much better three-point shooter now than he was last year that 33% was right around what he was for the regular season now he’s added the three ball to his game and he’s that’s going to open up everything else for him too and you

Have to respect him now he’s not just shooting 38.6% from three he’s doing it on high volume about 8 threes per game this this is you used to teams used to beg him to shoot to try to take away his drive now you have to be up on him and

And that’s a huge difference now between Fox he’s really improved a ton as a shooter one of the most improved Shooters in the league just so we get a little bit more clarity on each of your answers to this are the Kings better suited or do they

Have a better chance at winning a ring with sabonis or with halberton on that team I mean halberton I I just think when you have talent like having more Talent is the thing that matters the most right dear dearen Fox and tyres halberton combined Talent is better than halberton

And sabonis or Fox and sabonis because both of those guys are better players than damus sabonis uh I would rather have those two guys and any other combination of three guys to fill out the rest of the the the line line up than sabonis Jay do you agree yeah yes yeah yeah especially

Because to to me where they screwed up there was was was not splitting up that back cour because that back court at some point was going to be split did they take the wrong guy no no because no they did not they did not trade the fox is better he’s

Better to to build around he’s he’s more to to me he he’s just uh he has more to his game as a score and I think if you can get halberton in the half court if you can be physical with him if you can take away his air space and that’s

Really really hard to do you can guard him I don’t think you can take away Fox’s airspace because he’s one of the fastest craftiest drivers in the league and and that’s the difference to me um but but with regard to the sabonis trade I would have just pursued somebody else

The league had such a high opinion of halberton and rightfully so that you didn’t have to confine yourself you didn’t have to be so aggressive going after you know somebody who who’s limited and sabonis has been great he’s been fantastic he’s transformed the Kings he’s fit really well with Fox

Offensively he was one of the reasons that that team was number one in offense last year but but to me I I just would have wanted a different type of player than sabonis with his limitations if I’m going to move such a crown jewel of a trade asset

  1. Im still of the belief that they should've had a backcourt with both guys and added complimentary two way players around them. Dont get me wrong I like the kings but haliburtons ceiling is way higher than sabonis and even fox's.

  2. As a Kings fan I can agree you should start a team with Haliburton, however both of them would not have worked, they both need the ball in order to be the players they are today. In Sacramento’s situation of not making the playoffs in almost 2 decades, the trade was the right move. I don’t see any other player providing what Sabonis does and while impacting winning so quickly. Otherwise, it would be a constant rebuild without making the playoffs.Kings are set for the next few years, they just need to continue making moves

  3. It's Fox all day! His balls are smoother. You can tell by how fast he is, no wind resistance!

  4. Are you watching Sabonis play? You’re crazy to say that Fox and Hali are better. He’s averaging 20-13-8 this season first players since wilt chamberlain to have that stat line.

  5. Why does everyone think Sabonis is a joke? Dude is so disrespected. Leads league in rebounding and double doubles.

  6. This whole debate is strange. Who you'd rather start a team with, entirely depends on who's on your team, or how you're building your team. If Sabonis is on your team, then you don't want Haliburton, because your offense will run through Sabonis.  If you don't have Sabonis, then you want Haliburton to facilitate your offense.

Fox+Sabonis > Fox+Haliburton. That's the choice the Kings were facing.

This guy's talking about Sabonis's limitation? What limitations? He's averaging 20, 13 and 8. I mean, I guess you could improve if you can trade Haliburton for Joker…but come on. What is he talking about?

  7. Wait. The pacers offense this year is nothing like the kings offense. Pacers play with such a frenetic pace with more chaos than any other team. Definitely hard to defend thus why they have such a high ppg. The kings on the other hand is actually extremely structured in the half court. Its quite different. An argument that kings players' offensive stats are inflated is not even close to being valid lol.

  8. Fox actually plays defense. Ty is a horrible defender. Fox is a true scorer. I'll take Fox over Hali any day.

  9. Shut TH up with this for the umpteenth time. Indiana got a player. The Kings got an all-star center currently ranked 7th in the MVP race, the emergence of a solid 2-way all-star, which led to drafting a now 2nd year forward who's a good perimeter shooter, has added a midrange shot to his game and plays solid defense. They also got rid of a bloated contract and the player attached to it. The hyping of Halliburton at the Kings expense is so dated and tacky. Let. This. Go. 🦊

  10. Haliburton is just easier to build around. He's an efficient 3-level scorer with league-topping facilitation. The trade was certainly a win-win but that was because Sabonis as a point-5 is a perfect fit for Fox.

  11. Sabonis is doing stuff no one in NBA history has ever done besides Wilt this season so idk why people continue to downplay him.

  12. Fox a better scorer and defender. Haliburton a better playmaker. Kings get the same playmaking with Domas + rebounding. Also, Haliburton only 2 years younger than Fox. Media hyping Haliburton every chance they get
